Purple is my favourite colour!!! Violet is the colour of the crown chakra, associated with consciousness and mysticism. I adore purple and red together. Purple and yellow are a classic combo - think of beautiful irises.

According to Cakara Samhita of P.V. Sharma, the crown is white like a diamond and the Ajna chakra is violet, that's why it calms the mind, as the chakra rules all others.

My two favorite colors are green and purple, there are some shades of green I do not care for or like, but there is no shade of purple that I do not like. It is so beautiful. Thank you for doing this color.

I gave always loved purple and seem to be becoming more attracted to green than I used to be. The difficulty is finding clothes in the right shades for my skintone. As availability can vary from one year to the next, when I find something I need to buy it there and then as I have no idea when that colour will return to the shops.

Purple is my favorite color and I have purple in my decor and my wardrobe, so I'm very comfortable working with it. My favorite is to mix purples of varying shades (not just light and dark). I always say that purples like to live together. It's the only color I know that you can throw together with varying shades of the red side and blue side and it be harmonious, unlike greens or oranges, or yellows that aren't as easy to wear together.

I looooooove purple, but I prefer the darker shades. Lavender and lilac wash me out, but a royal purple, and anything with a strong blue-red (aubergine, mulberry, raspberry, plum, grape, sangria, dark fuchsia) makes my high-contrast skin/hair/eyes come alive!

I agree with your choices! I also think tans look really sophisticated with purple, where you match the depth and level of warmth. My favorites have been when the tan has a pattern on it (like an animal print or a plaid) 🤎💜.

fun fact: the dye that the Greeks and Romans used to make things purple smelled absolutely terrible because it was harvested from some kind of crab/shellfish. The smell of the dye would stick to the cloth, it never went away. (Modern researchers have replicated the dye process with the shellfish and the fabric still smelled like rotting shellfish ten years later). So all the fancy people in ancient Greece wearing purple, would have smelled terrible. The price of a status symbol. I love purple but only the very cool tones. Anything with too much red in it makes me look sickly.

It may make you look sickly as certain shades may not go hand in hand with your skin hair eye color and undertone of them. For example I am a deep autumn in color palette. Only deep aubergine shades work for me. Anything other than that makes me look extremely dull

It was in Ancient Phoenicia that the colour was produced. Phoenicians were even called the purple people due to the dye staining their skin.

Thanks Audrey for an interesting video. You mentioned so many beautiful combinations but forgot to mention purple and yellow. In Georgia, where I live, the flower beds in fall and winter are filled with purple and yellow pansies! And they look gorgeous next to each other 😍

Your sweater is beautiful on you. I like that shade. I used to wear purple a-lot during my young teen years, now I prefer blue, green, vanilla cream, teal, and black. Maybe one day I may have a need for purple…the color of royalty.

What a great video! My rule with purple is it has to be in a very high quality fabric, preferably something natural. If it's in a polyester or a less than beautiful fabric, it starts to look cheap. In a dark color, cheaper fabrics don't shout I'm cheap the way purples do. I love purple, but it has to be with either a classic outfit or combined with colors like you are showing. I mean that's just my taste.

The lavender sweater you have on looks beautiful with your skin and hair! I love the color purple. It’s actually my favorite color but I feel like I have a hard time finding purple clothing. Also, I have an aunt that is very dear to me and purple was her favorite color. She passed away several years ago but I still think about her often and especially when I see purple.

sooo happy to see purple back in! seeing what i’ve continued gravitating to even 4-5 yrs later helps me know what i don’t love just bc it’s a trend. the few purple pieces i’ve loved i’ve held onto so tightly so i’m so glad to see purple back in this year! i just picked up some lavender corduroy pants and love them! i also love your color styling videos! i gravitate to the same less common combinations… purple and grey i love! or purple and yellow :)

It has been a pleasure to see how we can add our wonderful spectrum of all colors to our neutrals- we have gone thru several years of pandemic burnout of dull, lifeless no- color that has altered our psychological boldness & personal expression of many colors which we are drawn to. In the past, my colors were bright, high contrast, & beautiful- but has faded in intensity. I feel inspired to bring that back in my wardrobe with a chic contemporary expression.

When you do a color focus video, and you suggest color pairings, I love the way you include pretty much all the colors - there are very few that you leave out. This allows us to look for ourselves in all the combinations and see how many color options there are when we start putting outfits together. Want to pair purple with green? Go for it. Purple with pink? Same. Your videos are accessible and make getting dressed fun.

What a great video! Looking at colors in nature is definitely my favorite way to think about color-mixing. The part that really got me thinking was your section on purple and brown. I've paired the two together, but usually through accessories or small details -- like a purple sweater with a brown leather bag or belt. Not sure I have ever color-blocked purple and brown together, so I will have to try it!
