One of the most common concerns I hear about from new riders is that their feet get cold. Next to your helmet and backcountry safety gear, boots are going to be one of the most important pieces of equipment you have on-and we're not talking about your fur-lined Sorels!
Feet get cold when they aren't being protected by the right gear. In this case, this means wearing warm, synthetic or wool socks, proper snowmobile boots, and pants that are designed to keep moisture out of your boots.
The goal of our new series-Wear + Care-is to show you methods for cleaning your gear and make sure you know how to get geared up for a great day on the mountain.
In this episode, you’ll learn that the boots you snowmobile with should have:
• a thick rubber sole
• ankle support, meaning the boot can be fastened
• waterproof materials
• insulation
We’ll also cover how the BOA lacing system works, and what to wear inside and outside of your boots so that you have warm, dry feet all day.
