Dylan. Thank you for nailing this tutorial video. No one includes what you do which is to start off small. This is literally missing from every other whip video I have watched. Nice job!

this ties as the best whip vid's ever!... because unlike another vid that explained how instigating the gyro to move from its plane, is also what makes it naturally go back to that plane again, and how the time that takes to happen is in how fast you twitch the bike on the jump face; but this vid explains something i've never heard elsewhere, and that is that we need to pull the front of the bike down near the apex of the jump arc. this appears to disturb the gyro yet again which enhances the rebound action for it to spring back. he is pulling or snapping the bike further into the whip at the peak of the jump, right when you want the bike to start coming out of the whip. this seems backwards so the only explanation is that by yanking the gyro out of plane for a second time (in the same direction), it creates a sudden "bounce back" effect that speeds up the gyro rebound and helps get the bike straight again faster. this really helps make sense of it. another key point from the other vid is you have to relax your body during the entire whip because if you freeze or tense up, it will lock the bike at that point and stop the gyro rotation cycle, leaving you stuck sideways. super good tip to know!

Slowish to throttle hard all the way off was a big tip that no one ever says on vids like this. Even though it’s more advanced it’s a huge step that I would’ve loved to hear a long time ago to at least have that in my head whether I’m good enough or not. Thank you!

Did you mean slow to hard throttle off the face? The comment I'm not sure if there was a typo or something
@kvlemark
@kvlemark 3 года назад
@@mattbuck9271 no lol slowish was on purpose. I’m confident he knew what I meant be that. You aren’t always just going to go slow to throw a big one. Slowish referred to that gray area of throttle control vs speed.

little confusing, let me explain. In the video going small you are turning your front wheel off the jump almost like a turn down. But in the larger jumps you are turning your front wheel on take off the opposite direction. Why are these different? and when would someone know when to switch?
@Indy_Dylan
@Indy_Dylan 2 года назад
Turning the handlebars doesn’t make a huge difference, you can do either in your whip it’s just another ‘style’ more then anything
@keepsyouincontrol
@keepsyouincontrol 2 года назад
@@Indy_Dylan thanks!, i was under the impression that turning the wheel was what helped pull the bike back from a whip due to the gyro affect. Can you explain to me what the best approach is once you have it leaned over to get it straight again?
@Indy_Dylan
@Indy_Dylan 2 года назад
@@keepsyouincontrol a whip is mainly about size of jump and timing with the wind you are riding into , once your whip is sideways you can feel the drag of the bike cutting into the air and you kind of almost use that to bring your whip back as well as pulling your body back like I said in the video, so if your whip starts in the air and not off the upramp then your going to land sideways because by the time your whip is out you’ll almost be landing, so starting to lean all the way off the upramp helps so much because a lot of your whip is done before you even get A quarter of the jump , I am pulling my body back up and bringing the whip back pretty much the whole time I’m in there air, most of the whip happens on the upramp… the harder/faster you lean going off the upramp - the bigger the whip - and the more you will be trying to pull it back the whole time your in the air, if you only lean a little bit off the upramp the more controlled the whip will be , once you are doing it yourself and you learn to lean off the upramp a little bit you’ll get the feeling of how the bike wants to come back straight a bit more in the air, if your already in the air and trying to whip the bike pretty much gets stuck sideways and won’t want to come back straight
@keepsyouincontrol
@keepsyouincontrol 2 года назад
@@Indy_Dylan Thanks!!! one more question. is there a minimum distance i should or should not be trying this on? i'm currently using a freshpark Ramp and jumping 25ft from it. i could jump a lot further from it but that means i'd have to hit it a lot faster and to much for my brain to process LOL
@Indy_Dylan
@Indy_Dylan 2 года назад
@@keepsyouincontrol you want to make sure you have a down ramp to land on , that will help heaps, I would honestly say 30ft - 50ft is a good size for medium sized whips
