How to whip the end of your lines

In the inland Towboating world we call this serving a line. We use strands of lock line known as Cow tail in the place of what you're calling whipping line. This is actually becoming a lost art amongst mariners as the youngsters don't have the patience for the old ways and usually just use electrical or duct tape. Thanks for putting this out there, maybe it will help the traditional knowledge live on.
