The issues in 1992 1) Offensive Line - Glover/Andolsek and Brown were outstanding in 1991.....tragedy struck Andolsek and his family as he passed suddenly, Lions has absolutely no back up plan for him using a revolving door of journeymen to replace him and the other 2 - positions.....also add Glover was lost early in the season.....Lomas Brown was essentially a one man offensive line that year 2) The defense which seemed to step up in 1991, couldn't hold leads......this effected them right out of the gate losing on the last drive of the the game in the game opener vs. The Bears 3) Hiring Dan Henning as OC was a HUGE mistake, didn't get his offensive personnel at all.....also....FYI...the Lions did not "Trade" for Scott Mitchell, they signed him as a free agent.

Fantastic breakdown. Couldn't agree more with you. The o-line blunders this organization made really cost them. Remember the Pat Swilling trade in '93 that gave away picks that could have ended up in more talent up front? Also, the Mike Utley injury from the 91 season was another huge blow in this chain. And you are correct I mis-spoke on Mitchell, thank you for catching that, it was a free agent pick up. Dan Marino's backup who played 3/4 of a good season and the Lions overpaid...another great example of an era where many mistakes were made. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Are the Lions Super Bowl contenders in 2024?

Yes yes yes! We have more than just a shot at finally winning the Superbowl! The front office is doing all the right things to get the right players. Unlike from the 92 regime we as fans had to suffer from bad draft picks and unfortunate other things which like you said pushed us back. The lions ownership and management on down are so good that they inspire me everyday to keep pushing on in my life. The lions know what they're doing and they are on top because of it. Remember the trade for pat swilling? We sent our first Pic which would have been hall of famer lineman Willie roaf to the saints. This would've helped Barry A LOT. Sorry I don't know if you mentioned this on your video especially since it was during Scott Mitchell's era lol

Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Love the passion and I agree with you 100% they really have a shot. There were so many blunders throughout the 90s and 00s but your correct that Swilling move is mind boggling.

@@johnnygazsports and if you remember pat swilling was actually very good in every game he played for us. We needed players on defense and everywhere. Pat definitely filled a void for us but it still was a very bad decision. Can you imagine what would have been if roaf had been with us instead of the saints? Barry running behind lomas, Glover and roaf would have been almost identical to the Cowboys oline. And then there's my favorite where we drafted a good multi position player in terry fair instead of randy moss in 97-98 lol. But yes I to believe this is SUPERBOWL or bust for our beloved lions. Im eager to seeing what our coach and gm homes are planning for the draft. You know there's going to be trades in efforts to bring in thee best players here. Coach Campbell is extremely impactful in the decisions that Brad makes. So it's like we have two gms here who are fully responsible for the players we see on our team. I didn't know who dj reader was until his name started circulating before we signed him. Excellent pickup to say the least! I learned quickly how valuable reader is already by researching him and listening to you and others have observed and reported. I love 💖 the NFL and obviously the Lions. I'll be watching all your past vids and the wonderful work you've done. I just can't get enough of lions football 🏈. It feels soooo good to see our team do soo well now and be fully respected by everyone including our rival fan base. I love all the players we have. Our offense is very exciting to watch. We have thee best running back combo duo in monts and Jah. We have an improved offensive line just with the signing of the guy from Baltimore and you know we'll add more in this months draft. With Ben Johnson and coach Glenn returning you know it's serious. We was close to that title and facing KC. I Still have not gotten over that lose Frisco and I don't think our team did either. Our roster just improved greatly by these recent moves. We have unfinished business to take care of. I have full confidence and respect in coach dc and gm Brad. After the draft we should have the best roster in the NFL and prolly have right now.

The difference is not the offensive line. The difference is the QB. You need a QB to lead the team to a SB. Kramer and Pete are not anywhere close to what Goff is. The Lions are finding pieces for Goff to utilize. Let's be honest here, the 91 Lions were a nice story of a team having a great year. They were not a great team. They had 7 losing seasons, 1 great season and then another losing season.

I agree that without the QB they cannot win the big one. Goff is the Lions MVP for sure. But for Goff, more than most QB's, he HAS to be insulated to be successful. That oline is equally if not more important for this situation because he needs them to be the best version of himself.

@@johnnygazsports Name another successful QB that isn't insulated with players around them or a top defense? I believe people look at Goff and try to find reasons why he's played so well. They can't even entertain the idea that Goff is just an excellent QB. Goff's has never had a good defense in Detroit. Not even average. They traded away his TE who was the leading receiver and he succeeded. How many injuries to the offensive line over the last 2 years? He still puts up great numbers and wins. We don't even acknowledge that a lot of the success St. Brown and LaPorta has had is due to Goff's great play. People also want to give Ben most of the credit. Who is Ben Johnson if the Lions had traded for Teddy Bridgewater instead? I've never seen a goal post get moved more on a player than Goff. QB's get paid to control the offense and throw the ball. Two things Goff does better than almost any QB in the league. We then hear, he's not mobile enough. At some point its laughable. I call it the "Goff Standard". If he isn't absolutely perfect, then he's horrible.

I’m a huge Goff supporter. My videos prove that. Don’t agree with some of your reasoning (OC Ben Johnson might be the reason Goff is now playing at a higher level) but we are saying the same thing my guy. And it sounds like we both want him to succeed so the Lions and us fans can have the ultimate success. Love your passion! Go Goff and Go Lions!

@@johnnygazsports Who was Ben Johnson before Goff? Honestly, had you ever heard about him or how good of an offensive mind he was? Or did you just know he was the TE coach under the old regime. I think Ben owes Goff more than Goff owes Ben. I'm not trying to take credit away from Ben. I think the media tends to give him most of the credit for Goff playing well. Its not like Goff was a bad QB in LA.

@@mikeanderson3735I get your point. Again, I don’t have to agree but I understand the logic. Maybe they have both helped each other in more positive ways than negative ways. Can we agree on that at least lol!?
