another very informative and easy to digest video! I just subscribed to the diplomacy briefing and I look forward to tapping into the community finally

I wish they had talked about england's relationship to austria. i see them as a much more viable longterm ally than turkey. austria is rarely in a position to contest you in the med.
You sound like someone who makes it to the end game frequently. I personally find that England and Austria can indirectly help and influence each other in the early and mid game, but there usually isn't much direct contact until the late game.
For some reason, my students tell me that my British accent is quite terrible (they must all be mistaken), so I've stuck to the nasalized Canadian pronunciation. But I humbly accept that I'm butchering its pronunciation. I hope the tea didn't stain.
Lol. As Umble says, high level play can yield 50/50 guesses as players try to double bluff and outhink each other. I think I would have covered bre with my army and blocked Mao with the fleet. But then no naval build there for me. That's why Umble is the English pro and not me. He's a wily one!
I just got to play with umbletheheep in a recent tournament game on the diplomacy tournament I didn't know it was him until the end of the game where we all sat for a video chat. I was turkey and he was england, Russia and england both got 14 centers in the end but I got to live up to the draw with one center. The game ended with 6 of us drawing and Germany had completely gone.
Its odd to refer playing as UK as England - Whilst when the game came out geographical ignorance sometimes led to people forgetting England is just part of the UK - now it feels just an error.
The game also decided to call Austria-Hungary as just Austria, the Netherlands as Holland and Romania as "Rumania" (probably to avoid having the same abbreviation as Rome). There are some other odd choices as well.
Next: France with David Hood or Andrew Goff? or Russia with Peter Macnamara/Goff? or Turkey with Morgante/Goff? I guess I just want to hear you talk to Goffy at some point...
Ok we need to address this! England=🏴 Britain=🇬🇧 Its not Austria, it’s Austria-Hungary, and yes it’s very important to make the distinction. Turkey doesn’t exit yet! It’s the Ottoman Empire! It’s not Holand, it’s The Netherlands 🇳🇱 Britain needs more Mediterranean support, I.e Gibraltar, Malta! Add Bulgaria as well! It would be, very fun! 2 supply’s 1 army, 1 fleet. Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, provinces. Sofia and Varna are the supplys!
Sometimes I don't get a clean place to cut when I'm omitting the long winded and less relevant parts of the interview. That's an example of one of them.
I've started by viewing Austria Germany Italy It seems to me that all of the advice for Britain is the easiest to collapse under the moves that will likely happen following the other videos. *Austria and Italy both seem like they can reliably play for time by manipulating 1 German Army or more, perhaps tangling with each other, and even a RT Alliance shouldn't disrupt that idea, because as the most obvious threat on the board England and Germany will just plain believe it because it's true and help disrupt whatever goes on against Russia. Italy can talk to England and Austria can talk to Germany at least. Germany is the most advantaged Central Power for the early game and just has to fear too much success but they have lots of options. EG seems like a lot of problems get caused as soon as Germany makes its first fleet. Which why wouldn't it. EF isn't as scary as RT, but it's just as suspicious. Obviously the better you are at talking to people you can make lots of things work, but if I'm trying to figure out how to convince someone who begins paranoid, it seems like England is contained with France and Germany doing normal things. Italy isn't scary, Germany is, but France has 3 supply centers right? It just seems that bouncing off of England's fleets can easily be done while the real tension is Munich and Tyrolia which England can't offer doing much except start promising to stab people.
