@protomous What difficulty level are you on, mate? I've just played through on Legendary and it went exactly like the guide. Morghur attacked on T2 (always does), but he lost and then went for the follow-up next turn, because I was stood there pretending to offer support. Reason why I ask about difficulty is that if you're on a lower difficulty than Legendary, it's likely to buff up Morghur a bit against Estalia, because they're a shared enemy.

I heard another strat vs the beastmen at Margritta, is accept the battle then drop a doomrocket on the beastmen ie betray them in the battle itself. Not as efficient or sensible but very skaven.... Some great advice in this video, many thanks! As a noob I would have loved to have seen a bit more such as how to deal with armies like Bretonnia or Lizardmen that are fast and can get at the gun teams quicker and your mid and late game army comp.
@WarmasterMoloch
@WarmasterMoloch 4 месяца назад
I gave that strategy a few test runs while researching the video, including basically following Morghur's army after they inevitably win and hitting units with warp lightning. It did some solid damage, but the biggest issue was that the AI does not tend to group them up all that much, so there weren't as many wipe outs as I would like. Also it obviously did nothing to Morghur himself, or his hero. With regard to how I handle faster/less squishy opponents, you can see a bit of that in my Lord Skrolk guide. I may do a video about my optimal Skaven stack at some point, as it's probably the reason why I don't struggle with any Skaven campaigns (I use the same units with every Clan, because I'm boring like that!).

@WarmasterMoloch There was some slight variation from the video for me. Every time I had to attack one of the settlements, I had to fight either a full stack or half stack. Which was a fun challenge. Thanks again for the guide, I appreciate this strategy over Skavenblight cheese.

@@truekinggreed8051 My pleasure, mate. And yes, I too absolutely hate that Skavenblight cheese. The idea of abandoning my capital offends me on every level! Which difficulty level are you playing on? I ask because sometimes the other difficulties throw up different challenges (for example, the trick of letting the Beastmen walk onto a suckerpunch at Magritta usually doesn't work below Legendary).

What do you do if morghur wins? i tried this a couple of times now, and he wipes them every time (turn 2) If i declare war on him and attack his herdstone its an easy winnable battle, but the turn right after he will attack me. I'm completely new to Warhammer (not total war or grand strategy) and I've absolutely fell in love with the Skaven. For some reason the Beastmen and Wood Elf guy keep shutting me down hard. The Beastmen take Magritta as soon as turn 2 ends and then the pirates declare on me on turn 4. Not really sure what to do except try to get that first settlement to tier 3 for some stronger units to defend myself with. Repelling the pirates aren't that difficult at Skavenblight but I usually take enough losses to lose out to the Beastmen or Wood Elves. Not really sure what to do!

Whenever I play Skaven I hate how income is so low but building costs (especially for engineer hero cap) is very high. Should I use a separate army to go far away and create a ton of undercities? It feels like Skaven need 30-40 turns to get rolling while other factions can dominate from turn 10 or even earlier.
@WarmasterMoloch
@WarmasterMoloch 6 месяцев назад
If you want undercities I recommend using the rite-summoned engineers instead and creating one or two spreader buildings adjacent to good locations. Honestly though, I very often forget to even bother with undercities, as I fund my armies and growth through constant battle, sacking and conquest. Basically I put together very expensive armies (weapons teams, artillery and heroes) and go around mauling any armies that I can find for money and food. I also always sack cities, then loot-and-occupy them. This maximises money. Between that and using the instant city levelling, I actually find that the main reason why I sometimes feel poor is because I have so many things that I can build. A few conquered territories later and I'm feeling flush again. So essentially I recommend putting together a couple of powerful armies and then picking a lot of fights. Make the enemy pay for your buildings!

Hey, I'm playing in Hard difficulty, and everytime Magritta gets wiped out and the whole area becomes affected by chaos corruption, making my armies take damage whenever I try to walk on it, any idea of what might be happening?
@WarmasterMoloch
@WarmasterMoloch 4 месяца назад
So what's happening is that the game is changing its patterns due to the lowered difficulty. Because you start at war with Estalia, the AI is 'helping' you by having the Beastmen take out that enemy. However, that actually winds up leaving you with a tougher enemy in the form of the Beastmen. My recommendation is to either take Tobaro at Tier 2, build the Weapons Dump and recruit a bunch of Warpfire Throwers with which to take on the Beastmen, or try attacking the east first instead and then returning to Estalia when you're a little better equipped for taking on the goatboys.

@@WarmasterMoloch After I recruit plague catapults at turn 8, I don't get them then because Margritta is besieged
@WarmasterMoloch
@WarmasterMoloch 3 месяца назад
So for that I would recommend recruiting an extra lord to help support inside Magritta and if you have the chance, maybe recruit some extra Skavenslave slingers to help support (if the garrison has replenished enough to be viable). Then during the siege I would defend from the secondary point master point (as opposed to the final one) and save up enough supplies to get the strongest tower. However, if you're still not confident enough, forced march Ikit and his army over there.
@rex1buster
@rex1buster 2 месяца назад
I think I'm just unlucky I can't get them off that middle wall no matter what I do and they always keep putting some things over on the right side even tho I have nothing over there it also doesn't help that they lowered the unit sizes at some point after this video so that sucks it's kinda outdated
@WarmasterMoloch
@WarmasterMoloch 2 месяца назад
The unit sizes haven't changed, mate. Go to your graphics settings (before the campaign starts) and look at Unit Scale. I'm always on the largest. With regard to them sticking on the wall, something I did a lot in practice (but didn't need to in the final run) was putting Ikit up on the walls. That leads to the AI clumping units around you, so you can cast Brass Orb and Warp Lightning onto that and do huge multi-unit damage. That added bump should give you enough to thin out the mass. If you can't get the guns inside, once you've broken down the gate, use Ikit to lure enemies outside, while the guns stand outside the gate. Balequint can keep the towers occupied if they're active.

one of my fav things to do is play either sartosa or Skragg and sieging the shit out of skavenblight as soon as possible. fun as hell to try challenging myself to wipe them out. easier as sartosa if you manage to raise a mortar. IDK how ikit was complained of considering out of all the skaven hes the easiest. hardest one i could think would be between retch and pestilens. pestilens due to position against lizards and demons, wretch craventail for his assss dark elves with no magic or artillery to deal with it. queek is easy considering orks are no challenge when you mass up all them cheap armies to mash the horks
