Be mindfull of throw away opportunities Chance, a zero on ones (making up three on the upper is usually doable) and 4-of-kind . . . it's a variable score that can range from 6 - 29 points. If possible, put your four-of-a-kinds on the upper section - the 35 pt bonus is key

If you don't score a yahtzee is that called a "notzee"?

If I'm going to zero something, I check to see if my opponent has zeroed the Yahtzee. If he has, then you can zero that one too. I have taken a 1 or 2 in ones (or even zeroing ones); or 2 or 4 in twos, to avoid only putting down only 3 fives or 3 sixes. If my opponent has gotten a Yahtzee, I'll strive hard to get a yahtzee as well. Also, remember that if your opponent has gotten a Yahtzee; it's not over. That may be the luckiest thing they do for the whole game, and you can still beat them; so don't give up the game.

Sometimes i think, middle of the game, you get a yahtzee with 5s or 6s, you put them in the top section. Even if Yahtzee is open. Reason: its almost a guaranteed 35 bonus. So 25+35= 60 and 30+35=65. Either way youre scoring more than a single yahtzee and middle of the game, chances are you're not getting the bonus yahtzee. Of course you could throw another yahtzee then you've screwed yourself on getting an amazing score. But going by pure odds....and also either way you're gonna win unless the other players are having some quality games.

Ok... So, how many scoring opportunities do I get per "game"? Until I fill up all the boxes? Or is there a set limit? And do I just choose between upper and lower based throughout?

no tips and not tricks......and not a good player. Why would you take the 3 5s and apply it to 3 of a kind------but not take the 4 5s and apply it to 4 of a kind when 4 of a kind is hard to get?

I used to play Yahtzee since second grade as I was taught advanced math at an early age. Instead of symbols and smiley faces on the duds, my tip is to jot a "zero" instead of an "X" for professional terms. The upper section is called "multiples".
