How about a video to counter the lag. There are times that when your Pokemon dies and you switch to another Pokemon, there's a 3-5 seconds lag. After you move, you have less than half HP. I wonder how can I win in that situation. 😁
My guy, that was quite possibly the single greatest demo/guide to winning PvP matches in GBL I've ever seen on RU-vid. So clearly explained and everything... Great job dude, please keep it up! And everyone stay safe out there!
THIS! I've read alot of people complaining about everything hinging on the lead matchup but so glad you put out a video stressing the significance of having a SAFE SWITCH and knowing how to use it. Also, with everything happening so fast in pogo battles, I appreciate the pauses to explain the split second decisions that need to be made and the logic behind them. Quality content.
Awesome video. I learned a lot from this and your other vid about having the paper in front a little rock in the middle and a big rock. I used to switch right into my hard counter when I got an unfavorable lead, but ofcourse people are going to have a hard counter to the type(s) that counter their lead so then you just solidify their lead by being locked in a bad match up. So now I switch to a neutral or soft counter first and things usually get evened out if I can finesse the situation. Great stuff!
AWESOME video !!! Thank you SO much - and SO amazing runing into you at Go Fest Berlin !!! I ran into you by chance and you were so accommodating. Thank you for letting me get a picture and thank you so much for a short but great talk about pvp (I was the one running Obstagoon, Trevent and Talonflame in Ultra League) - Best regards and wishes :-D Pernille from Denmark
I loved the format of this video, slowing down the playback and explaining your process and decisions is really insightful into how to read a battle. Lots of tips to be learned here...
THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR i want to get better at pvp.what you did in this video made me learn lots of things in pvp. Please keep doing this reason-why-i -did-and-did-not-do-that in all your pvp videos. Thank you so much!
Very great video Zyonik. Been following your channel since BL started and it's been super helpful. While I knew most of the tips here, it was nice to have it be refreshed in a very organized and clear way. Keep up the great work!
That’s awesome, what would be even more interesting is worldwide regionals. Tropics would make a fine addition. I’d have to look into it but I think you could make a pretty damn good team with regionals!
Thanks for the advice man. I've seen some comments about this kind of strategy on Reddit but it makes a lot more sense with your safe switch approach to teambuilding. Really appreciate the informative videos!
Not bringing in ur best counter works because the opponent will nearly always assume that you've left ur worst counter on the bench, making them switch for a faceroll matchup in the backend. Genius, ty man.
Hi ZyoniK - you have some great content! Very much appreciated your response on my previous inquiry. However, this time I have a recent gripe of which you may have insight. Up until a few days ago I had a roughly 67% win rate. I ran Azumarill, Medicham, and Skarmory as my mains, among others, but wanted to invest in a recently acquired Registeel. The thinking is that, basically, it was a better Skarmory. After maxing out that #1-ranked mon, he was put into action the next day, where I promptly went a handful of (at best) 2/5 series. A very expensive disappointment. I would entertain the idea of a learning curve, but it was constantly being 1 move away from win or consistent disadvantages at beginning of matches - even after switching up order / entire teams. Two days later, the constant and immediate mismatches has grown to a furious level. It is almost as if PoGO "wants" me to lose - matching me up to teams with counters to every mon. Maybe the Curse of Registeel? It's very frustrating to say the least, and I have gone from lover of GL to a discontent. I don't know if you have had similar experiences (probably not), but I doubt this recent trend is my team management. I record my matches and reviewed that there's little I could've done to improve odds.
Zyonik! Please make a video on the best Pokemon to lucky trade for great and ultra league. I have two lucky trades with friends but I want the best PVP IV's but dont know what the best metarelivent Pokemon are when they have good IV's. Please help!!!
Had little practise with pvp before but i was preparing pokemon for it as i was expecting something like GBL to come out, although lag and glitches make for a terrible experience sometimes that cost you games i was losing match ups that i should be winning due to inexperience with the feature, subscribed recently to ZyoniK and Kieng watched some videos and now iam rank 8 going strong for rank 9, thanks so much for the useful and informative content
The problem with the "safe" switch is that either: (1) It goes as in the video and you win switch advantage back. (2) They have a counter to it and you're again at a switch disadvantage after it kills you and you revenge kill it. (3) Your safe switch is not bulky enough to win the neutral matchup because it has to win neutral against both his lead and his switch (if it doesn't it's basically the same as (2) except he has less health remaining at the end because it's not a true counter). And the majority of the time it's situation 2 or 3 (mostly 3) for me and I'm screwed. What to do?
great video zyonik! I've always felt mad that I can't switch into the direct counters so i mainly do a safe switch like an Umbreon as you have pointed out in the video!
Nice video I have a fun team well I use it and I love it so here : machamp to farm off shields Umbreon use it when the opponent use there first attack swap in Umbreon to save a shield because Umbreon is a tank (don’t use against grass type) and then rapidash because it’s effective to grass and flying type I never lost with this team
I often hesitates to switch in Umbreon in similar situations because Azumarill is so common and such a great counter to Umbreon... But I guess with a losing lead there is not much else to do but pray they don't have a perfect counter to your switch in.
Running with Shadow Victrebelll lead,A.Muk as safe switch and A.Sanslash in the back. It's pretty effective against the meta. Got wrecked by a fire fang Mawile tho.It ate my entire team with 4 pups
One of the big factor is lag, hope your opponent either switched late or can't attack for few seconds, that's the most important thing will help you win.
Great video Zyonik! Could you also make videos about losing the lead in ultra league and master league in future? I really struggle to win in those ultra league and master league battles after losing lead. It's like they always have a counter for my switch
Great video, I was implementing this sometimes from watching your previous videos but without knowing why. Mid game explanation is really helpful. I will be sure to check out the links too!
Oh man so glad I commented this a few days ago on the Haunter video and seeing now it has become a thing!! Good luck with your climbing and keep it up :D
@@maganhassan2627 level doesn't matter per se, as long as said Pokemon reaches 1500cp. Haunter is better because it has better moveset (even though Gengar has slightly better stats product under 1500cp), that's all. Namely it has a cheap charge move (Shadow Punch) allowing it to bait opponents and not worry about being KOed while having lots of energy, while every charge move Gengar has needs quite a lot of energy to throw
@@maganhassan2627 assuming optimal IVs for Great League, Haunter has: attack 159.7 defense 87 stamina 101 product = 1,404,074 Gengar: attack 153.9 defense 95.5 stamina 99 product = 1,455,047 Gengar's stats product is 3,6% better, so only slightly, like I said before. [source: pvpoke.com] So, yes, I'm serious. I'm not sure I want to talk with such ignorant person though, but heck, I'll give you a chance. What else do you want to talk about?
@@filipz5605 loool bruh......I am learning dude so you're telling me a gengar with the same level as haunter is better?? I mean when they are close to 1500CP because usually a prevolved form is better than their evolution so how can gengar be better than haunter??
I've watched all the videos and read a bunch of websites too, but I just can't seem to get good results on battle league! I only win two or three times out of five no matter what I do 😩. Thanks for all the help and advice though, it has helped 😊
Tq for this! People are asking for it all the time! I'm new to pvp and was doing terribly until I saw your videos. I am taking goldbat with poison fang / shadow ball, wigglytuff with ice beam / play rough and a lapras with water gun plus surf. I was thinking about swapping lapras with whiscash, maybe. Would you give me some advice for the team? Also I wonder who should lead the game?
Is a 18 win streak good enough? :-) I think I've still got the Footage for it. But som1 probably has a longer streak, now we can get a good start with new ranks?
After watching this video ended with 4 wins after a streak of a lot of loses. My problem was not taking a good leading Pokemon and making bad decision at switching. If I could I would give you 10 thumbs up!!! Thx!
This is definitely a strategy I picked up from your previous videos but it's nice to see it highlighted here. I appreciate all your uploads as it really helps me get a better feel of how certain matchups can play down. By the way, in case you can help me: I've been struggling with building my team for a while, my most successful one was altaria skarmory toxicroak but it became pretty weak once I started facing steel tanks and fairies/azumarill so I've been switching pokemon but to no avail, besides the ones mentioned I have a quagsire, azumarill and hypno, and I could also build a bastiodon from scratch. I've tried altaria+azu+quagsire but it was pretty weak to grass and especially a-raichu... Help! :)
Everyone discusses about the perfect Pokemon or the perfect team but it seems like the tactic and the knowledge about the opponents Pokemon is much more important to have a good chance to win. Very good Video!
The thing is that what you said is complete bullshit. The game is SUPER unbalanced to the point where a Venesaur can defeat a Charizard easily for example. To the people who play Pokemon in the Nintendo systems, stay away from this ridiculous battle league
@@josealmeida7181 Yes, that's true! I prefer playing the "static" battle system on Nintendo as well. But in the end you have to use good tactics in Pokemon GO pvp if you want to be successfull. That's what I wanted to say. But of course there is no comparison to the nintendo games in any ways
Man, I have watched your videos and I think I'm getting better. I'm rank 8, currently running Whiscash (the only with two attacks), Skarmory and Registeel. I don't have access to Deoxys, but I do have access to the other meta. Do you think this team is good enough? Or should I add some other pokemon to the mix.
Hi Zyonik! If you're reading this, try to make a set with recomended pokémons! I'm really having fun with those random teams and try to improvise in every Battle 😅
Im running this team 1° Altaria (lead) 2° Probopass 3° Umbreon Im winning like 4/5 matches all the time, what u guys think about this team ? Balanced or maybe change something ? Love ur videos btw Zyonik, ur helping me alot
I like the idea behind it but I think you'll have a tough time the higher you climb. Especially vs Azumarill and Registeel. But you got the coverage to dance it. Possibly look to swap Umbreon for a different safe switch that's not as weak to Azumarill.
@@ZyoniK yep im already having some tough fights, especially against azumarill. Can you recommend me another pokemon as safe switch to use on this team ? 🤔
You know, im from Brazil. You are the best teacher in PvP, im learning a lot. If possible, could you make a video with, umbreon, toxicroak e registeel. Thanks a lot.
What do you think about azumarill, alolan marowak and medicham as a team? im also thhinking about alolan raichu, skarmory and azumarill/swampert as another team
I would love to see a video of u using seismitoad with mud slap and earth power. It farms so quickly and wins almost very cmp tie. I went 9-1 with seismitoad, registeel, and medicham
Zyonik i have a challenge for you.I know you are a pro player at pvp battles. And here is my challenge.Try to play with pokemon that brock, misty and ash had in kanto and hoen region.(i wanna see the onix please)
No hate but ppl in the comments don’t use this strat bc a lot of ppl use skarmory and umbreon in there team so most of the time you’ll be facing the same Pokémon but this team I recommend highly it has one me 41 battles this season Hariyama, dragonite and Machamp once hariyam has his charge attack use it then switch to Machamp bc he has a fast charge up it will burn their sheields then when Machamp dies switch to dragonite if he doesn’t pull it off by then u still have hariyama
Medicham has: Counter (Fast move) Power-up-Punch & Ice Punch (Charged Move) Probopass has Thunderbolt and Rock Slide (Charged move) so they are usually not a problem
I'm running this team now 1.Registeel 2.Umbreon 3.Azumaril I'm at rank 8 now but I keep start with the hard counter opponent like Registeel versus Whiscash or Medicham.I want to know that is this team good?Keep losing really make me frustrated.(Not sure I spell the Pokemons' name right or not XD)
So I have 2 teams: The first in Umbreom as lead, Noctowl, and Whishcash. The second is Altaria as lead, Azumarill and Skarmory. What is the best? Or is there a better combination of these moms? Or maybe change the lead?
Is there a good way to beat a Pokémon that beats all 3 of mine? My team is whiscash, skarmory, a-raichu and the only Pokemon it loses to is umbreon, but I’ve still yet to win against a single team with umbreon.
sableye is a good lead and skarmory is a good safe switch. venusaur is a nice third wheel, but this team better watch out for those regis, azumarills, and altaria
Hi ZyoniK! I was wondering if you could try out my spicy team! Paper: Alolan Ninetales: Powder Snow/Dazzling Gleam (I cant afford a third move so ur choice) Little Rock: Alolan Graveler: Volt Switch/Stone Edge/Thunderbolt Big rock: Umbreon: Take one guess lol
very spicy! but i think that team will be in trouble if they encounter medicham/registeel, and they become quite common around rank 7 and above :( i might try it lol
RiscoDisco thanks, but I found that since my Umbreon has max hp IV and defense IV it can actually, believe it or not, go toe to toe with a Registeel in certain cases. It also takes down medicham, but not too easily, bc of focus blast and fighting type fast moves. Thank you for the feedback!
I’m running regi azumarill and cresselia. I have faced countless mirror regi lead matches, and azumarill closer matches. EVERY azumarill ive faces runs play rough. I almost never need my azumarill for registeel because I usually end up in the mirror if they have one. I’m soooo tempted to TM to play rough, but I know the second I do, I’ll face something else I need IB/HP for. If you were to run play rough, which other move would you keep/would you just not use play rough? I have lost about 5 of my last 30 matches going into an azumarill closer mirror match. Even with a shield I lose to play rough Azu.
I've lost a ton of matches since reaching rank 7 and it's because of my switching. I'm not the best PVPer, but I need to use my safe switches better I think.
@@thatdudewelove8498 Switching is what I'm trying to learn how to be more effective at. Like when or when not to, but utilizing my safe switches better, instead of just switching into my hard counter since opponents are usually expecting it
@@Ddgolem12 what i would do is screen record each battle, look back at the ones where you try to time your switch and learn from them so that next time you can prepare. its how i did it, like how football coaches would look at previous games to see what they can improve on.
I was rank 8 last season. This season I cannot get past rank 5. Something changed about the game and I still dont know what. I keep changing my team and I fight against people that have the perfect counters 90% of the time. Lost all interess in BL honestly
Thank u for the great advices! I have the 2nd team but my registeel doesn't know focus 2 moves cause I'm poor! Can I still use it or a skarmory as replace could work for lead?
Yeah I usually have bad leads & I need to think about the next part of my strategy & use pokemon that can handle the opponent with the right moves. Anyways thanks for the tip dude.
Hey zyonik. Today I hatched a shiny pichu and people are going crazy. They're even ready to give me a dialga or palkia just for pichu. Is it that rare ?
Try vigoroth and rack up 15 counters by coughing up a shield and it will legit take out azu alt skarmory and tons of other meta leads :) 🤭🤪 I went 21 before first loss
can you give us a replacement for Deoxys and regi?? i have been playing whit Primeape, Hypno and altaria, do you thing its a good team ? or should i replace some one ?
what if you switch and they still have hard counter. e.g. azumarill into venusaur without energy advanrage? you can land 1 ice beam and take a shield but they still remain switch advantage
