DO NOT TRAIN AI ON MY CONTENT Relax, learn, sleep. Today we learn to win with black by analyzing Akiba Rubinstein's 'Immortal'.
You can support the channel on / asmrchess
Akiba Kiwelowicz Rubinstein (1 December 1880 - 14 March 1961) was a Polish chess player. He is considered to have been one of the greatest players never to have become World Chess Champion. Rubinstein was granted the title International Grandmaster in 1950, at its inauguration.
Rubinstein was the youngest of 12 children and born 12 October, 1882.
In his youth, he defeated top players José Raúl Capablanca and Carl Schlechter and was scheduled to play a match with Emanuel Lasker for the World Chess Championship in 1914, but it was cancelled due to the outbreak of World War I. He was unable to re-create consistently the same form after the war, and his later life was plagued by mental illness.
Here is the games annotated when it was played be top players Schlecter and Tartakower.

9.Bb2 O-O 10.Qd2 {? Schlechter: A very bad place for the
queen. The best continuation is 10.cxd5 exd5 11.Be2, followed
by O-O. *** Tartakower: Loss of time. The queen will soon have

My face when I realized what was happening 😱 I’m so glad I came across this channel. Not only is it relaxing as heck but it’s also very captivating in the way you go in depth about the moves without it getting boring - I think it has to do with the tone and passion behind what you’re doing. Amazing! I never got into chess (no negative reasons just had different passions so never really got to it), but I find these exciting to learn through. I’m excited to watch more of your videos and seeing more breakdowns of your favourite chess matches🖤

I think it is only fair to make an update on the tournament, there were 5 games and i had won 2 of them, while losing the three remaining. It may look bad but i am really happy as i only started studying on friday and today i had secured two wins, just like my advanced friend who i was afraid to play against. The next round is in 20 days. Wish me luck.

Of course rook to h3 is the coolest way, but rook on the second rank allows the same and I guess the only way to defend longer is with rook to g1 followed by a really cool smothered mate. Still rook h3 is probably the most stylish one. Great Video again

A truly random question - is this the DGT board with DGT Timeless pieces? Or a simple "Championship" style chess set? The setup is equally relaxing and pairs very well with your presentation style. Looks like a nice setup for study as well.

10. Qd2 Qe7! Schlechter says it's fine and that black has an attack, well, black has compensation after 11.cxd5 exd5 12.Nxd5? Nxd5 13.Qxd5 Rd8! but no attack, white can castle and is fine and a pawn up. There is an interesting knight sac. in that position (the engine prefers it), though, instead of Rd8, which gives white an advantage but leaves him with a very exposed king.

I think white should put the queen on C2 in the beginning that would seem to be the more logical move because that would put pressure on blacks King at the H7 pawn.
@misterjones2650

Great game. It seems like white lost the advantage right after the opening withthe premature bishop to d3. Imstead he should have taken on d5 with the pawn amd then again with the knight and queen to win material and place the bishop where he belongs on c4.

What happens at 27:11 if you play Rf2 as white? You would still win a bunch of material (first the h2 pawn, followed up by the queen, rook and bishop (all with tempe)), but it is not checkmate, right?

@timothylawrence8929
@timothylawrence8929 2 года назад
That’s E3 to E5, not E4 to E6. Either way it’s not a legal move. A pawn can only move two squares forward on its first move; that particular pawn was already moved to D3 from D2 so it can’t move two squares at once any more.

One note on his name, it should be pronounced more like “Akiva”, it’s a Hebrew name, not English. The sounds “b” and “v” are closely related (and in some languages even interchangeable) so I’m not surprised to see that those were the two different spellings of this name.

In the russian alphabet the letter "w" looks exactly as the latin letter "b". Maybe Akiba/Akiwa was lost in translation this way.
