I'm a beginning wing foiler, but your videos have helped me tremendously to get up on foil easily. The skateboard ollie analogy, putting emphasis on pumping the foil and also the wing helped me foil yesterday on a 6 wing when others couldnt on 8's. I was blown away how little wind it took to get up on foil even with my mast back in the track because I'm a beginner. Thank you!

Robby Naish is the best in many aspects. And great instructor. I watched his videos, all my anxiety about the sport was gone. Because he is calm and makes it all simple, not intimidating like many others. I'll make sure I buy from his brand, no other. His daughter, needless to say, makes it all looks possible to anyone.

Best explanation ever from the Master, I wish I had of watched this the other day instead of blaming the wind, obviously there was enough but my technique was all wrong. Thanks Robby!

Hi Robby Thank you for this video,now I understand that the foil pumping is so important.Do I have to combine with wing pumping at the same time or it works also without pumping the wing . N.Ebert

Ok, I think I see it now. The wing is strapped to the arm, and the board is connected to the board yes?

I lifted off today the first time in some heavy winds and crashed. Unfortunately my frontfoot was to deep in the strap and i injured my self a little. Do i need to use the straps when i'm doing no jumps?

In lima there is low wind. Does anybody know what would be the ideal low speed of the wind, or the minimun speed recomended

Thanks! Questions from a never have wing foil person??? The numbers you noted (2000, 2450...). Are they referring to surface area in square centimeters? Wings of the same surface area, but different aspects. Which are more efficient in generating lift? What is the preferred wing fuselage length.
@kshred3043
@kshred3043 3 года назад
They are the areas of the foil in cm^2 although sometimes specified as the actual surface area (one side) and other times , because the wing is not flat, specified as the area as vertically projected onto a flat surface. The latter will always be a smaller number. Thankfully, manufacturers are beginning to specify both numbers (and even more). Can't help you with aspect ratio as I am still learning myself. As I understand it, a longer fuselage is more stable / easier to control / better suited for a beginner with the downside of being less responsive for turning. Hope that helps.

You've probably figured it out by yourself by now but just in case: low to medium aspect wings with large surface areas produce the biggest lift but also drop the fastest due to the drag produced by said surface. High aspect wings (aspect ratio of 8 and upwards) need a bit higher speed to get going but will glide better through the lulls. Think of a sailplane - it has wings with a very wide span but a super small chord. Because of the reduced drag it can fly forever. I should note that lower aspect foils are easier to turn though...

Well maybe for guys from Hawaii that`s light wind, but in my country you have to deal with much less wind;)
