Much of the information I had found was from physicsforum.com especially from a user named Jim Hardy. This is how I wired and got running the AC 2speed single phase AC motor that I salvaged from the washing machine. I am only a hobbyist and am open to being corrected on whatever potential errors I have made. It is a 7 wire motor that I understand to have 3 wires being start and 4 wires being run. Each from both groups have one wire connected to the capacitor in this case being purple and yellow. Then the other two start wires join with one blue or white being high speed or low speed as well as with the neutral power cable. The live power cable is finally connected with a thermal switch with orange and there you have a running washing machine motor. I hope to have helped.
Direct and to the point answer: Black,Red,White, and Neutral.(Blue added here if you want high speed). Purple and Yellow to Capacitor, Orange and Live wire to thermal switch.
Motor is 5KCP160FFA001S WH20X10019

Super Great job as it shed light on the color codes functions. As I understand it from other research; I can see that Blue =Hi Speed ; White = Low Speed; Orange =Neutral ; RED = Start Winding; Yellow =Capacitor; Purple/Wht = ( i'm guessing Agitate or Spin)?? I would like to ask What is Black? Was Black powered through Timer originally?? Pending Direction I imagine; Black,Red,White, and LIVE wire.(Blue added here if you want high speed). Purple and Yellow to Capacitor(I didnt know I could do that), Orange and Neutral wire to thermal switch GE is stingy with the diagrams; Any advice you provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Estaría mejor que se mostrará más claro y prartico mostrando todos los colores de cables, desde poquito más lejos para ver bien las condiciones, el jiro derecha, siquiera, para los que no somos muy tegnicos gracias

Good posting and just a side note. These are 1/2hp motors but if you wire them for low speed…. You lose a decent amount of power. I plan on wiring for high speed and then some pulley arrangements will slow down my rpm. Thanks again.
