Man exactly the video I needed since I've just bought the h9 flow + Z73 Rgb + 7 duo fans. I've immediately ordered the fan controller v2 + an internal USB splitter. You saved me alot of frustration! I want to say those though that NZXT could have made some things alot easier. Daisy chaining those fans to start with + making the fan controller for at least 9 fans and 9 RGB devices.
As you may have noticed I changed my mind (because of the problems with nzxt products here, hardly anything is in stock atm) and am going for the Lian Li build with the H9 flow. Also the cable mess with Lian Li is going to be alot better than this nzxt setup. Either builds are from looking at your videos tho so thnx alot!
This is beyond NZXT fan reviews. Been figuring this out for too long for possible daisy chain connection on NZXT fans and AIO and you got it all down in a single video. The USB splitter is a big advice but I have been reading reviews on Reddit regarding to NZXT USB hub to be fried and burning so I'm hesitating to add that option to my system. I'm planning to change my back exhaust fan to an AER 140. Also thanks for pointing out the F120 RGB DUO fans to be a back to back RGB and I don't realized it to be like that until I watched this video and I'm definitely buying it because my intake fan is too boring. Legend. Thanks for showing the connection points. I don't know why NZXT won't just use standard connectors rather than their propietary argb ones. It would make life a lot easier! Other manufacturers use standard connectors and also provide you a hub. I 'm not sure what the issue is.
Dude this was sooo good, I needed this video n to explain in a way for the rbg cable n power cables if the multiple fans. Also an excellent explanation of the rgb n fan controllers. Another thing was the usb triple port extension which I never knew until now, might have to look into those
@@TheProvokedPrawn yes sir I did, again it really helped a lot, before this video I was confused on either having one or two rgb and fan controller but now seeing this ima just have one and also see if I have any of those usb cable headers so I can just stick with one n whatever extras left over just connect them to the mother board, plus I just got the h9 flow so it doesn’t come with a rgb and fan controller so I’d have to purchase one myself, plan was to have 7 120mm fans with rgb and as you know it’s alot of cable management, but I think I got it now. I ran into the problem of not having spare SATA power cables (NZXT requires 2x spare). I did have spare 4pin molex connectors. I found 4pin molex to SATA converter cables on Amzn, it had no problem powering the pump & radiator fans.

Awesome video! Just curious about the final connections for the RGB on the fan controller. It shows 6 RGB connections so you can plug in 6 rgb for 6 separate fans, but if you are running 9 fans do you need to use a splitter on the RGB connections or buy another RGB controller from NZXT?

well if u jsut get the one Nzxt controller with the RGB and fan hubs it also gives splitters and i have it in my case connected to all 10 fans :3 without a problem i have the H9 elite

are those triple splitters included with the box coming in the H9 Elite case? cause with that i could easily plan my fan setup for my new coming build. H9 Elite with 3x F120Duo fans on a kraken ("front") and 2x F140 Duo on the bottom as intake. and for outlet 3x F120 Duo on top and 1x F120 on the back. 3x AiO Fans plugged into the Pump and RGB into the Controller. 3x Fans in top plugged into the Controller via Splitter and RGB into the Controller. 2x 140 duo from the bottom and 1x 120 on the back into the Controller via splitter aswell and the RGB of those plugged into the small RGB Controller coming from the Duo Double Pack. That might Work If i got my maths right :D
Great tutorial/explanation! Question for you - I switched out the default fans that come with the Kraken like you did with the others. However my system is not wanting to register fan speed control (just the RGB). They are plugged into the pump cords and into the motherboard. Now the default fans are plugged into another controller and have zero issues being controlled. Any thoughts on what I can look into?
I’m so confused. So I have just bought the h9 elite and ordered the x73 and 3 more duo’s.. do the splitters come with the controller that comes with the h9 elite or do I need to buy those separately.. and will I still need to buy additional usb splitters? I have the same Nzxt motherboard you are using in the video..
Hey, little late of a response, but I just researched these fans as well. The Duo has the RGB ring on both sides of the fan, which lets you see the RGB regardless if the fan is for intake or exhaust. Non-duo is just on the “front”. The duo does have less individual RGBs with 10 on each side while the non-duo has 18, which theoretically means some RGB animations might not be as smooth. There’s also the original AER fans on the old kraken AIOs which only has 8 individual RGBs on their front side, and the new Krakens come with the new core fans where the entire center glows vs a ring. Hopefully you found your answer already, if not hope this was helpful.
Hey there. I will build my first tower using the H9 flow. So far i purchased only the new Kraken AIO (controller included). I also want to replace the side non RGB fans ( that come with the case) with a 3pack of “F120 RGB Core “ (controller included). So har i have 2 controllers that take 3 fans each. If i want to install 4 more fans(3 bottom, 1 rear do i need to purchase the controller that connects 6 fans ? Also what do you feel for having 3 controllers in your case?
Can you plug a splitter to the RGB port so i can have all 10 duo fans working from the NZXT Cam app or some of them have to plugged into the MB ports ?
My question is this please reply I plan to build a 10 fan rgb set up so the kraken 3, 3 on the front(6) three on the bottom(9) and one on the back(10) So 10 fans would this video help me with wiring all 10 fans with rgb ? And what parts do you recommend getting to accomplish that?
I'm planning on build a new PC without using Nzxt motherboard. Going to get 10 of the f120 fans 3 included in the H9flow elite. I'm just worried that if I buy a 3pack and 4 single fans there won't be enough ports for the fans to have rbg control. Would I have to get a controller from Nzxt if I wanna do this build?
Great Video, I am looking at upgrading to the H9 Flow with some duo fans, I use a MSI B550 Tomahawk motherboard and NZXT Kraken. Im a beginner with this sort of stuff. I have my original Aer fans daisy chained. So have used the 2 usb's at the bottom of the mother board. Am i going to need 2 fan controllers and potentially the usb extension? Thanks in advance
Nice video and guide sir. I am using H5 flow with msi motherboard. Currently i am using x2 of f140mn fans with x2 RGB port in used. If i want to add more fan, do i need to to but more controller to use RGB port or i can use spitter like FAN sys port?
I tried plugging in a solo 120 fan into the 4 pin LED at the top of a gigabyte x670e pro x and it only flickered a light occasionally. Is there a different place I should have put it into? I think there’s only one other 4 pin and I’m pretty sure the cable won’t reach. EDIT: just got to the part where you reference there may be problems if a mzxt mobo isn’t used. Time to return the fan lol

Question, I plan on getting 10 NZXT F120 fans (3 will go in the Kraken Radiator ). Should the NZXT fan controller be enough ports? I think I should have enough ports using the 3 way splitter for the fans, but for RGB would there be enough? I see 6 RGB ports on the controller.

Question: Why would you want to swap out the fans that are included with the Z73 for duo fans when one of the sides will ultimately be facing your radiator anyway? Also great video! I was confused as to why you couldn’t buy the fans independently from the controllers, now it makes sense that they’re worth using!
the fans that come with the kraken have that weird square-ish shape for the light ring as opposed to the circular halo shape that the duo fans have. Of course he could have used the non duo F fans also but maybe he had these already.
Sorry, but I don't understand the RGB Controller: so you can connect nine fans with the adapters but what about the six RGB ports? Is it possible or shouldn't be possible to connect all the nine fans also to the six RGB ports?
The hub controller has 6 RGB ports, and 3 fan power ports(power 9 fans if daisy chained 3 at each port). When buying the 3 pack of fans, they come with a RGB controller that has 3 RGB ports on it. So you’ll basically need the hub for 6 RGB ports and 9 fans powered. The remaining 3 fans not connected to RGB will use the included RGB controller.

I’m building my first pc and Im getting all the same things but the motherboard and was wondering since the h9 controller does both power and rgb like you said do I still have to plug the fans into the rgb ports on the controller?
How should I connect seven fans? So six of them into the connector and the last one to the motherboard? If I connect like that, can I still use the nzxtcam to control all seven of the rgbs?

NZXT H6 Flow RGB which comes with 3 NZXT RGB fans minus a controller 2. Deepcool LS520 240 AIO 3. NZXT F140mm RGB core twin pack which comes with a NZXT Controller 4. MSI Pro Z790 A Motherboard Im trying my best to get my head around this before i buy anything. Do you think i'll need the USB splitter or NZXT RGB fan controller? I have the NZXT 510 Flow. I just upgraded all fans to the RGB version so i have 1x 120mm, 3x 140mm and i got the nzxt under glow 200mm. 2 of my 140mm fans came with the 3 port controller (shown at 2 minutes into your video). I did not realize the on-fan daisy chain ports are no longer so I'm two ports short. I see they mention the cable splitter which does not come with the fan bundle. My question is, can i get the cable splitter for this controller and if so, where? I dont see it on on the nzxt site but see it referenced in the manual for their controller. Seems my options are to locate that 1 to 3 splitter or purchase the larger controller. 🤔
I have no idea why they scrapped those IN and OUT ports like on the AER RGB 2 fans. They made cable management considerably easier if you have a lot of fans and RGB stuff.

The krakenfans are controlled by the unit. But can only control 3 fans? What if you wanted to run the push pull method. Can it control 6? I’m confused about this part
I'm going to buy nzxt h9 elite and aio kraken elite and i want 10 rgb duo fans, 6 of them to the rgb controller which came with the case and 3 of them to the controller which came with the aio, and now there's one left! How does the duo look from the top through the Z73 rad? Is it worth getting a duo or just the regular single sided LED? I've never seen a picture from the top.
Dude amazing video man I just had a few questions. I’ve been looking at the “NZXT Aer RGB 140mm fans white” and was woundering how many RGB Fan controllers would I need to run 4 of them. I am gonna buy the new “NZXT N7 Z790 Motherboard alongside the NZXT H7 flow” so I didn’t know how many of those NZXT RGB and Fan Controllers I’d need to buy to be able to run 4 of em, three in front of case and one in The back near the cpu. And lastly I’m going for the “NZXT Z73 AIO 360mm Kraken cooler white” I’ve been told to get the 120mm version instead of the 140mm since the 120mm match my cooler fans. But I’ve heard the 140mm performs better. In your honest opinion man if I were to get 140mm even though the AIO coolers are 120mm would the 140mm fans look extremely out of place. I’d rather go for fans with better performance but I don’t want it to look weird visually in my case some fans being bigger then the others. So, if I want to have 10 fans (4 included with the box, 3 from the liquid refrigeration and 3 additional), is it enough with the controller that comes with nzxt h9 elite or do I need an additional controller? what is driving me crazy is how you have the display on the kraken as you do at 19 seconds :) I have a Z63 (so 280mm) but other than that i believe its the same series as yours. (not that i can figure out how many revisions of the Z series with the screen there have been). Your font where it says "liquid" is small in comparison to mine, and i cant get a solid ring on the outside, only the crescent type display with the dot plotting the temp. Don't suppose you could please clue me in could you? either way , great video and as usual great content - please keep it up.

Ok, so my question is...I have an Asus motherboard, Z790-H, and bought some NZXT CORE fans (7) , the single one didn't came with a controller, so I plugged the fan header into the motherboard fan pins and the RGB header into the motherboard 12V pins and yeah...after 3 seconds it was gone. And the question: The only way to connect a single fan (I mean the RGB header), is buying a controller?

Any noticeable difference between using the Duo fans vs the standard on the Rad? Can you see the lights from the top? I have the new elite and plan to to swap out the RGB core for the halo lights instead. Trying to decide if I should get the duo or the standard F series RGB. Is it possible to connect those 8 fans into one controller that I got within case and to use them all as rgb, or I need to buy extra fan controller?

A bit infuriated by NZXT as it's hard to get hold of the NZXT RGB Fan Controller in Canada... no sellers on Amazon, Canada Computers has zero in stock across the country, and if I go to the NZXT site it's $48CAD PLUS another $60 in SHIPPING!?! Very disappointed atm hoping to find a solution or I may buy and try to fit Lian Li Uni Sl-Infinity Fans (love their look and the fact they're daisy chain-able) into my NZXT H6 Flow for my first build. But I've seen people have trouble fitting any fans besides NZXT into the H6 Flow so I have my doubts...
I have a question. I plan to build my next pc in this case, will keep those three fans which comes with it, additionally want to install three more 120mm fans at the bottom, replacing that one fan at the back also with the same 120mm one and placing z73 AIO with same fans. WIll that hub with cables that comes with the case be enough for all those fans to be installed, or i'll need to buy additional hub/splitter/cables? Probably won't go for the nzxt motherboard from that video, for now my pick is strix z790-f if that matters. That will be my first time ever building pc all by myself, so I'm not really that knowledgeable yet.
The hub can power 9 fans but only 6 RGB. You can power the fans on the cooler via the cooler as I showed but you might need to use an RGB hub. So you'll likely need a USB splitter.
@@TheProvokedPrawn So if I understand you correctly, it should look something like this: connecting USB splitter to the motherboard, connecting hub that comes with the case to the splitter, connecting hub that comes with pack of fans to splitter, connecting fans accordingly, both rgb and power of cooler fans should be dealth with cooler itself. Is it correct?
So if I bought the h9 elite and plan to just add 3 more duo RGB fans I don't need to buy a second controller? I'm bringing the z73 RGB cooler but will be keeping the pre installed fans on that so I just have 3 slots to fill.
