@@MohamedMostafa-my4qf dude this guy is trying to sell you a dream that is not realistic. literally look up any GME fellowship and tell me how many IMGs without US residency you see there. I will wait here for your reply
@@thegoose9356 i ve seen quite a few especially in Infectious diseases, nephrologg and subspecialties of neurology.. I know several people from my own school who did fellowship in the US without repeating residency one of them did Nephrologt at the university of Ohio, one did neurooncology at Harvard and one did epilepsy fellowship in Baylor
Sir Salam I have MD degree from sheikh zayed university Afghanistan and post graduate diploma in Tb and chest disease from khyber medical university Pakistan so can I do fellowship in USA please give me advice thank you
Very Informative Video Doctor , i had some queries regarding this and i hope you would answer that , so firstly as you have mentioned that in general surgery, radiology and orthopedics board a person can get board certified without doing residency in US, what about in the fields of internal medicine and cardiology (i guess both come under ABIM board) do doctors in these fields have this US residency exemption option or is it mandatory for them to do residency in US in order to get board certified from ABIM. Secondly with regards to recent changes made by some states in US like tennessee etc where they have allowed IMG to directly get state license and work under clinical supervision so even though they can work in US legally with state medical license but how will their job sustain for long time without board certification because i heard its extremely difficult to get malpractice insurance without board certification and its difficult for those doctors who are not board certified to bill patients who are doing payment via insurance . so even though img may come via these routes , but will they be able to sustain jobs in the hospital in future providing some speciality boards are hellbent on giving board certification to only those doctors who did US residency.
Can you please list the specialties that are eligible to get the board certification without residency? If a cardiologist finished his residency in Germany will he be eligible to get board certified if he did a fellowship?
We aim to connect IMGs interested in practicing medicine in the U.S. without completing a U.S. residency with job opportunities in states that allow this pathway. We will also keep you updated on relevant information related to this pathway and available jobs. After completing home country residency, are we going to apply through the Match or directly to the program?. Great effort once again. You are Indeed a blessing to the IMG community.
Thank you! It differs if you are applying to fellowships or jobs. You can schedule a consultation here to discuss that in detail thematchguy.com/work-doctor-usa-without-residency/
Thanks for the useful information. What about the expiration date of newly issued ECFMG certificates? Could that be a problem to fulfill the criteria of state licensure processes?
HELLO DEAR , PLEASE TELL ME, I AM MBBS GRADUATE WITH SPECIALITY IN ENDOCRINOLOGY AS WELL AS I COMPLETED SPORTS MEDICINE AND WORKING AS TEAM CHIEF PHYSICIAN IN RUSSIAN PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL- CAN I PRACTICE SPORTS MEDICINE IN UNITED STATES??? ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME
Hello sir, big fan.. thank you for these videos.. they help alot. But i missed one point. Currently i have done my 2 years residency in internal medicine and 3 years residency in Neurology but i have not yet cleared my Part 2 FCPS exam. Can i apply for postfellowship in neurology based on my training experience alone after clearing steps? Or clearing fcps is mandatory for post fellowship? Waiting for ur reply. Thanks alot.
Honestly, how easy is it to get a fellowship in general surgery subspecialties for me as a 5-year experienced general surgeon with master degree from my country and ECFMG certified
Thank you for this great informative video. I have a question though. What if you start your residency somewhere else and then decide to continue your medical career in the US without finishing that residency? Would your one or two years of residency help you match to your desired program? of course along with all other requirements. For example if you already started ENT residency outside the US but then two years later moved to the US and finished USMLE and did some US clinical experience, would your two years of residency in ENT help you match into an ENT residency in the US?

Hey man excellent video! May I ask if there’s an advantage for those who did Canadian residency over residency in another country such as home country or UK for eg? Thank you 🙏
Dr Asad , thanks for this informative session, would you mention which are non competitive fellowships and how to be able to fit for that when you have residency and clinical experience in another speciality as IMG
We actually have an advisor who did endo fellowship in the U.S. after residency outside the U.S. You can sign up for a consulting session here thematchguy.com/work-doctor-usa-without-residency/
Hello sir I have graduated from From medical faculty of Afghanistan and I want to pass usmla so the university that I graduated is registered but don’t has responsor note. Can you direct me what to need to do
I have a question; there's some sources that suggest or claim that you can match into research fellowship as IMG specialist, without being ECFMG certified. Is that true?
Yes, you don't need ECFMG certification to do research. Check out this course that will tell you the details of research positions thematchguy.com/research-positions-in-the-us/
Can i apply to fellowship if my residency isn’t from my home country? Like germany for example then do fellowship in usa Ps. Im Jordanian but a us citizen
Dear brother can you please tell me is it mandatory to Pass final exam of Residency or just have to complete 4 years training like Pakistani FCPS has 4 years training and 1 intermediate module theory and clinical exams then Final FCPS-2 theory and Clinical exam (Toacs, short cases, long case) then if some one passes all the exams he/she is awarded Diploma certificate/Degree. So what do you mean by completed residency? Some one with Degree or just completion certificate?

So are these fellowships paid? And can you share the list of states ans institute who actually accept the applications for non board certified applicants?
No state in the US will let you get the license to practice in its state without having residency. 2nd no employer will offer you a job also. If I'm the hiring hospital- why would I hire a person with a foreign degree without residency when I'm getting thousands of applications with MD + residency?
@@travelcamz Of cource, they will be working as Uber drivers(need a driver lisence), at Mc Donalds or may be as hospital attendents. Very few lucky ones may even be working as sugical tech, coding reviewers, or in Dr's office as NON-CLINICAL employee. I also know a few who are working at a "community Hospital" as "chart reviewers" for insurance coding (creative coding to up code) and one poor soul who is an Operating room tech : they can't even work as "physian assistants. PAs will need to pass their exam and be liscensed. Otherwise, long prison times, fines and deportation for you and heavy fines and prison time for those who employ you wil be the result (if you get caught). Don't fall in this guy's trap😥😥😥😥😪 A US surgical subspecialist.
@@travelcamz No, it is the reality. Without a US lisence , you can't examine a patient .For writing a Rx, you need NPI number and/or DEA number which you can't get without lisence. If you use someoneflse's numbers, it is fraud and will be in trouble with law enforcement. If you are lucky, you may get to work as a research asst, or office asst who can't get involved in patient care. Once, we had an Indian Dr with out a lisence (or USMLE/ECFMG), he worked as receptionist (front office), couldn't take a history let alone change a dressing. Another issue will be malpractise insurance for you and the "employer" If you are here on an institutional arrangement ( University to University for specialised training), then the host university will get you a limited liscence to work under them with insurance coverage as long as you are employed with them. With that, you can't work enywhere else. The "chart reviewer" and "surrgical tech" storry are TRUE , the surgical tech work under the operating room nurse to hand instuments . SO, buyers beware 😥😥😥😥😥😥🙏🙏
If we have done our master's in oncology in the foreign country, n an ecfmg, can i do my fellowship in the same and apply for jobs in US after clearing step 2 ??? Please reply

Either way it comes down to having a fellowship. Which means I’ll spend just as much time as an American, doing residency first, just not in the US. which means …… this advice is meant mainly for elder physicians.
Also for competitive specialties like Neurosurgery. Matching into NSGY might take 3-4 years which is the time to finish 3-4 fellowships and get a job for someone who completed residency outside the U.S.
Thanks for the info but i reality it is a blind end, unless you have EFMGC and did a residency , no fellowship program will accept your application. Both of the residency and the Fellowship program use the application through the ERAS. and it is also very competitive and offers one or two spot per year. Even with doing a strong research it does not guarantee to get in the program because still you do not fulfil the requirement to get into the program. Very few fellowship does not use the ERAS but still very to almost impossible to get in. In fact to work in medicine in USA you need to be a licensed board certified, unfortunately this is the only way.
That’s not true, I personally know an orthopedic surgeon who did residency in my country, graduated from it last year and is right now doing a fellowship in the USA. Don’t discourage people like that.

Nice video Asaad. I'm Pediatrician with MD from home country, Arab Board and MRCPCH-UK. Now I did first step and I sat for step 2ck a week ago and I applied for OET I want to have Pediatric Infectious diseases fellowship!
This doesn’t apply in most places that people like to live in . It’s in weird places that nobody wants to live . And if you get sued forget about it . If you are not board certified you’re done .
some universities will lose accreditation to take the steps. if I pass step 1 just before, can I take the other exams after my university loses accreditation? secondly , if I do a fellowship in interventional radiology right after my residency in my country, will they let me practice or should I wait until I get the license?

Thank you so much for putting all this information together! Question: doing fellowship prior to residency- would it sum up to the same level? I.e. Repr endo + then Ob&Gyn residency =IVF speciality?
This is funny because most hospital and clinics wont hire you if you're not board certified, that's the reason for BOARD CERTIFICATION. It's a STANDARD.

@@MalkeAsaad Fellowship is not a requirment for license, 1-2 years of "acccredited traing " is. Each state has its own reqiurments. You could get details of the requirments from the web sites of the Secretary of State of the respective states. Once you have a license in one state, you could get it in another state by receprocity (need to apply, payfee etc.) provided you meet that state's requirments. Some states requie aditional training as well (medical-legal, narcotics etc to my knoledge) Fellowships and residencies are two different animals..
@@Betelgeuse732 thank you for this addition Rad. May I ask you if one can get into private practice with the licence only? I mean fellowship without residency and board certification. Thank you in advance
@@allaboutlife3709 Short answe is YES (office based practice) if you have an unrestricted licence. You wont be able to get admitting previlleges in a hospital without TRUE board eligibility (First five yrs after residency) or board certification/ MOC as required. Most insurances won't include you in their panel, and you will have trouble getting mal-practice coverage. Even if you get coverage, God forbid that if you get sued; the pliintif's attornry will bave a field day and don't expect the jury will be sympathetic to you at all. You will end up in some remote places with Medicare (federal) and medicaid (State) patients (very poor reimbursement for medicaid, medicare is a little better) , un-insured patients or in an Indian Reservation! If your licence is provisional/ institutional (ie. restricted) you are limitedwithin the scope of those restrictions, (specefic institution , under supervision etc) and won't be allowed private practice. The Secretary of State in each state will have details for licence requirments, restrictions etc on their web sites.
