Hey thanks for making these videos. Your content has been very helpful. I do have a question that you may be able to help me with. I applied to the Foreign Service Consular Fellow program. This requires a level of fluency in a foreign language, one of them being Spanish, which I am a speaker. I am scheduled to take my CFPT test this month but I cannot really find much information about this test or this particular job. I would appreciate any info you may have on this particular career field. Thank you for everything!
Hey Dakota!! I don’t have any info on the Consular Fellows Program in regards to test prep. All I know is the Consular Fellows I’ve worked with have been pretty cool.
Hi Malachi! Thank you for watching! Those are great questions. I made a video about what diplomats do here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kx7KFvIJMTw.html There is also a book called, "Inside a U.S. Embassy." It goes into more detail. For internship info, please see: careers.state.gov/interns-fellows/
Hard to say. Once a foreign service officer does anything other than ignore emails and phone calls, we'll let you know but mostly conferences are the primary responsibility especially if they're catered. Free lunch.
The work of a diplomat is exhausting. Id say they do a whole lot more than “ignore phone calls and emails”. In many cases they are there to support citizens under distress. Its one of those positions where you wont even think about them until you need them. Then youll be thankful.
Thank you. I really want to work at the us embassy in Algeria. My husband is Algerian but I am from California and my studies is global studies. I am trying to figure out a way to get my foot in the door. I am only 25 and no job experience. I think I will start with internships.
Wow, your story is similar to mine. I am also from California, and soon moving to Morocco to join/marry my fiancé; I also hope to work at the US embassy/consulte. How is your process going… any luck yet?
Thank you for all this information, I’m us citizen I want to work with us ambassy us security guard so what’s the best website or way to apply for this position. Thank you
How long is the choosing process do you know...? I've applied and it's been 5 days since the deadline and I'm afraid to apply to other jobs if if might get this job >
You were so kind, respectful and complimenting of each position you spoke about. Your positivity is refreshing and I would imagine a representation of your everyday personality. Thank you for the information. ☺️☀️
Thanks for the video, really helpful.I am originally from eastern europe and speak the language, is there a job were I can get assigned to a specific country.
There is no specific degree to work as an FSO. But I studied BS - Sociology and History ; MA - Intercultural and International Communications. Thank you again for your question!
Hi Brianna! Thank you so much for watching! For salary information...it depends. Please see the link below: careers.state.gov/work/benefits/fso/#salary
Hello! I was a sociology major. In general, liberal arts majors are broad and you can do a ton with them. Just have to be strategic. Please see these videos I made here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gdG5UNFh-BQ.html. and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0zPyS9Xmoz0.html&t The advice in these videos can be applied to a Criminal Justice bachelor's if you're interested in this career field.
Hi, I'm intertional student what , i speak Arabic and good English , one year and. get the American citizenship. What first I study to work in US embassy please reply to my comment.
Hello! Thank you for the kind comment! This video is more directed to U.S. embassies. Other countries may have different ways to work at their embassies and consulates. One cool thing is there are job opportunities with US embassies and consulates in different countries for locally employed staff.
@@heymstraveler I'm fine for now. I was mostly interested in the consular fellow program. I realized that there are very little videos about that. Thank you.
the person narrating this is very distracting. All of these facial expressions, random smiles and voice modulations... this content is not about you. You don't need to be doing all of this as if you're actively in a conversation with someone. You don't even need to be *in* the video frame. It's actively distracting from the content. I didn't click through to see and watch *you*, so much as I did to learn about working in an embassy. Decided not to watch it through.
Great Video, that ks for making this kind of content. I recently applied for Consular Associate at my local consulate here in Brazil. Any tips or suggestions for how to land an interview or how to secure an offer would be greatly appreciated
Can I know about the EFM please, like it should be someone in my family who work there or what if its yes Can I apply for this work or not and there’s no any way
@@heymstraveler thank you so much, I already applied for a job offer for more than 2 weeks and there are no answers from the embassy what should I do, send an e-mail to them?
@@nourhafez5290 I am not in HR or apart of hiring, so I am not sure why. But it never hurts to follow up. I can tell you though to keep being consistent and persistent. Cheering you on!
I have a question, do you know someone who works for the foreign service who is Puerto Rican. I am Puerto Rican and I love your videos and hopefully one day I can become a foreign service person like you.
Hello! Thank you so much for watching. There are people from Puerto Rico who serve in the foreign service. Please see the link below. Wishing you all the best and cheering you on every step of the way! 2017-2021.state.gov/hispanic-heritage-month-2020/index.html
