shout out to your video! I'm a taiwanese medical graduate who has french C1 certificate, but was confused about my next steps because I do not fit into the indirect conditions, thank you for elaborating that the next step is to get my diploma registered.
its good to have my research on the matter confirmed like this since im still learning the language and some translations are weird. ill be going to germany first as it feels more secure than just diving straight into swiss. thank you so much for this! also, i have the exact same shirt hahaha
Without a recognised specialty you will be allowed to only work like a trainee doctor = under supervision! Only a fully recognised specialty would allow you to practice without supervision. Not ANY european University does it, only the ones in the EU do!
thank you for this update im glad you seem much more relaxed in this video! I found the cantons that accepted people were: - geneva and bern (they were the most accepting) - then some other smaller cantons also did - Zurich wasnt accepting probably because of higher dr supply Although its worth mentioning i've yet to hear a success story of someone with non-eu ties making it in switzerland because: 1. mebeko will not recognize your diploma (which hospital wants to hire sm like that) 2. hospitals will not take the risky move of making a visum for a non-eu dr. The swiss have stringent (ie. impossible) non-eu immigration laws. how do you find it in ch? i look forward to your next video!
Hello, thank you so much for such an informative video! Couple of questions though: 1. Do I have to be in Switzerland to apply for the registration of non-recognizable diploma? How long does this process usually take? 2. After getting my diplom registered, I can work in private sector right? So how easy is it to get a job in the private clinics? And is the salary good? 3. Do I have to have necessarily practiced in the country where I completed medical university OR my license to practice and experience from any country counts?
hi there :D some of your questions will be adressed in my next video :D 1. Being phisically in Switzerland is not a condition for the registration as far as I know 2. Yes, you can. It is not easy though.
Thank you so much for your generous explanations ! We really appreciate it =) i've been interested in Switzerland for a while and since i don't fit in the first 2 categories i'll have to follow the last option..so i was wondering wether they'd accept a specialist who completed the training in their home country or do they need some sort of evaluation/more training ? Thank you so much once again and have a great day =)
Thanks very much for your amazing video. I am wondering if I got diploma(approbation)from Germany. Can I directly use it to be a doctor in Switzerland.FYI, my nationality is not European.
Thank you so much for the information. My medical degree has already been registered since one year. I have studied medicine in Pakistan and now I’m living in Zurich. I haven’t applied for the residency (Weiterbildung) yet because I’m currently improving my language skills. My question is that for doctors it’s a necessary to work as Assistenzarzt first and after training we should give the federal exam? How can I good prepare for the exam I mean the book which I’ll read should also be in German? Thanks
Hi there, thanks for your comment I don't think that working as Assistenzarzt is a requirement to do the exam, although most people that do the exam are already Assistenzärzte. Honestly I believe that the everyday experience from working will provide you already with a lot of the knowledge needed for the exam.
Hello! I finished the university last year in romania and i’ve been looking for a job in suisse. I have my diploma recognised by mebeko, also a french b2 exam and ive been trying to get a job and i dont know why no one would hire me! Also today i got a call from medicalis saying i need to have the right to practice for the canton i wanna work in , and that will take more months and more money! What advice do you have for me? I plan to move next month and i can’t go and be jobless there with all my papers done and a doctor diploma. Thank you in advance!
But there are 4 years m.d programs that don't pass the maximum hours they require.. and if i'm not an EU citizen i basically can't work there? Damn why??? That's so not fair
Those MD Programms don't follow the European standards. It is what it is. 2. Not being a European citizen stops you from being recognized, not from working. You can always register the diploma and do the exam
Without a recognised specialty you will be allowed to only work like a trainee doctor = under supervision! Only a fully recognised specialty would allow you to practice without supervision. Not ANY european University does it, only the ones in the EU do!
Hello, I am a non-eu citizen and I graduated from a non-eu country, basically what I understood is that in order to complete my residency in Switzerland I should get my certificate registered then apply for the federal test? Then I can be able to do residency in switzerland? Also, is it true that if you passed the USMLEs/Plabs you can skip the certificate registeration thing? Thank you for the great video
Thanks! And congrats on this new chapter. I was wondering if I could ask you some questions. Im an EU - non-eu diploma holder, currently learning German to start my specialization in germany. medium term plan would be to move to Switzerland. Is there any other way of entering Switzerland, perhaps through some research, masters that then allows me to go into certain specializations? Would love to chat sometime.
Hello there :D Switzerland is very competitive depending on the specialty, and anything you do to become a more attractive doctor in your employer´s eyes will be welcomed. It wont, however guarantee anything. So Answering your question, I dont think that a masters or research can guarantee a position as a resident.
Hey, I'm a medical student from Italy but I'm studying in English. I'm non EU and will have EU degree. I watched your video and I see that I belong to direct one, right?
Thank you so much for the explanations! Just a quick question... Let's say you studied in a non EU country, and you have a citizenship of a EU country, does it still count if it's not you main citizenship?
Hi, great video! I have a small question which maybe you explained but I might not have got it. I am a non-Eu citizen from Canada with a EU medical diploma (recently finished my medical studies in Romania). I am curently in France studying French and I wish to work in Switzerland. From my knowledge in order for me to work in Switzerland with my diploma I must get a Apostile de Haga stamp. Now my question is which type of aprobation do I fall into since it is a bit of a tricky case seeing as I am not an EU citizen and have not yet started working?
As a non EU you don't qualify for direct or indirect ones. Because your diploma is from EU you also don't quite qualify for the registration. I haven't found a kind of recognition that fits you perfectly. Maybe you should email MEBEKO directly and ask them directly
hello eutopia. im a 2nd year med student and im seriously considering germany and switzerland for my medical residence. Do your work hours in germany count on your residency time in switzerland? also, if they do, and you spent your time in germany in a small hospital, can you work in switzerland only in b or a level hospitals? or do you still need to go through all three levels of hospitals??
The experience worked in germany can be recognized in Switzerland. When it comes to "where" you can work, you can work anywhere, just keep in mind that in order to become a specialist in Switzerland you need to spend some time in an A hospital. Normally as you transition from germany to Switzerland you go first o a C or B hospital because it´s easier and as you get used to the new country eventually you apply to an A in order to finish the specialty
Hi Eutopia. Thanks for your videos. Just one a little bit strage question. I am a specialist from Greece with a specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In the Weiterbildung form i can see that there is no option for this specialty. Is it not a recogisable specialty in Switzerland? Is there any way to go there as a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation?
I dont know much about your specific case, but it does come often that some specialties are not recognized in Switzerland. For example Intensive Care in Germany is not recognized in Switzerland
Hello, thank you a lot for your video but I didn’t understood something for the direkt Approbation, If I have a EU nationality and a EU diploma but I’m born outside from europe I’m directly out ? Like the country where you are born matters or just the citizenship is important ?
Hello, do you know if to prove your language, the mebeko accepts a course certificate as prove of knowledge or do the certificate must be of one of the international exam
Hi Doc! Really thank you for your videos. I am a Swiss citizen, but I’m currently studying medicine in a no-EU country. Which of the diploma recognition options should I apply? Thank you in advance for your reply!!!
Hello, i know this is not an online consultation but i am gonna try... while waiting(improving languge to do FSP in Germany) can u already work ? did u work in a hospital? or u apply from home, cuz i am seeing almost all "Stelleangebote" already wanting FSP and i dont know if its possible to work there while working on it.. if they accept u somewhere (thank you very much for the vids!)
Hey there :) If you don't pass the FSP you can't work as a doctor in Germany. It is possible to apply for a Praktikum, but you don't get paid as a Praktikant.
Thank you for your video. Since i was born in Africa and did my studies outside of EU, is it possible to do my Medical residency just by registration of my diploma ? Or Should I pass the Federal exam to have possibility to continue for residency ?
Hallo ! Eutopia ( oder jeder, der helfen will ) was weist du ueber die Anerkenung der Weiterbildungszeit, wenn man von der Schweiz nach Deutschland zieht ? Du sagtest in die Kommentaren ''The experience worked in germany can be recognized in Switzerland'', ist es auch umgekehrt so ?
Thank you Dr for your nice information. My question is:I got my diploma outside EU but it was recognized by EU system cause I was able to be accepted by One of Hungarian universities.,now If I have the permanent residency of Hungary .am I eligible to apply for indirekt way?
Alles bestens :D
I live in a non-EU country .l want to get an equivalency from Germany and work in Switzerland, but without ever working in Germany. İs this possible and will l take any exam?
Hi Eutopia i would also like to have solutions concerning non-EU citizens who have EU medical diploma (Hungary) who wishes to do their medical residency in Switzerland. I have actually emailed MEBEKO about this. They told me that if I dont have EU/AELE nationality, i don't fall for the direct recognition. They told me that I have to apply for the foreign non-recognisable medical degree recognition pathway.(which is weird since this pathway is for non-EU medical diplomas and I shouldn't fall in this category either) So basically they put me in the same category as a non-EU with unrecognised non EU medical degree, which I heard is the worst category to be put in)
Yes, its an Awkward position to be in. It seems logical that the nationality shouldnt matter as long as you got your Diploma inside the EU, but here we are... Sadly I cant help you. I hope you get it done and maybe some time in the future you can shere what the best way is. Best of luck
Thank you so much for useful video…my question is what if someone has Perminant residence in eu country but not the passport…is it still possible to apply for recognition?
Same question, if a person is NOT from the EU but have a Permanent residency permit in a EU country AND their Diploma is from the EU, what would be the case? If you already have an answer please let me know, thank you in advance :)
@@Dr.Hachem I searched and realized that its not possible…you can only go if you have passport…cause permanent residence is issued by that country and you can work with it only in that country.
@@keihan4279 I'm personally a non-EU citizen with an EU medical diploma(Hungary). I have actually emailed MEBEKO about this. I think that only EU citizenship/nationality counts for direct pathway. But if you manage to find a wife of EU nationality, then that will be a very easy and quick recognition
