Very strange. I lived in CDMX for 3 months last year and never had any issues with the tap water. Stayed in Roma Norte, Alamos, and San Rafael. Also never had any issues with the altitude. The smog was real, you could very much see it, but never really noticed it daily; can't speak to the long-term effects though.

I think you would like Quéretaro. I'm from Mexico city and moved to Queretaro to study college, and it's another city, definitely smaller than CDMX but has its pros, such as it is cheaper, quiet and calm (not that much traffic).

Mexico city looks great! Is it safe though? Especially if you can't blend with the locals and look 100% like a tourist, I'd feel a bit uncomfortable tbh. 😄

1. Yes you can wash your fruits and veggies in tap water, if you wish you can buy a desinfectant for food and spray it on them or mix it in a bowl of water and wash your food there. 2. No there are no fake police men scaming you, you said you "heard", well no, there's none. 3. It is not true that taxies don't have meter's, they do, specially in the city.

2. Oh there are plenty of police that would be more than happy to bribe you for cash and extort you for a quick payday.

Worked in GDL and CDMX for 3 years... and cost of living... a bit expensive for me compare here in MNL 😬 and they also have traffic and floods during rainy days or during hail storms. But they are really nice cities!

I've noticed an increase of English speaking people in non-touristic areas, and some even buying groceries, turns out they're mostly digital nomads. The language barrier is extremely prominent despite most young Mexicans having English classes and taking the B2 certificate from their grad schools. Have to admit English is not necessary unless interaction with other countries is needed, and those who speak it or are learning will have a really hard time because everything gets translated into Spanish.

@@reginacullen96 which is ignorant in a global society that allows travel anywhere you want for a population that makes up less than one percent of the national population. This is a government issue. Caps could be set to prevent prices beyond some local relative maximum. That alone would stop real estate companies and investors from gobbling up property and skyrocketing prices which is half the problem. Likewise for restaurants that have English vs local menus and have a segment of their business revolving around the intent of extortionist prices. There's also a global recession and housing crisis. These areas have also always been upscale and unaffordable for the average mexican citizen All of these contribute and it's not black and white. But people rarely take a moment to examine anything beyond demonizing subgroups that provide easy targets for their anger
