There are some lectures on YT that describe the names of the Sea Peoples that are mentioned by Seti's stelae. Pretty interesting theories about where they actually came from and who they were.
You may be close, Plato gives clues that suggest they were the forefathers of the Phoenicians and Minoans. They supposed to come from the west however, perhaps beyond the Med. Alantis maybe?

the horace and set story will forever be special to me. my honors english class in my senior year of high school was "world mythology" and my group had to share myths from egypt. one of my groupmates chose that story.
Funny story: I took an art history class in college that went over many pieces of art throughout most of ancient history. For our unit tests, we would be shown one or two pieces of art and have to write a short paragraph describing its physical and historical attributes. One of those pieces was the one of Akhenaten and Aten shown in the video. I wrote a pretty decent summary of the piece from what I remember, but when I got my test back for feedback, I noticed I was docked half a point on it. That's when I realized I had accidentally written "monotheism" and "polytheism" as "monogamy" and "polygamy" throughout my summary with full confidence I used the correct terminology 😅. I certainly got a laugh out of it and accepted that minor L!
As much as I've understood about Akhenaten's recent historiography is that it was less "first attested monotheism" and more sort of henotheism/monolatry deal. And that it probably was less about genuine religious revelation that concerned all parts of egyptian society and more about an attempt at wrestling control away from priesthood of amun who had grown too powerful.

You asked about the timeline of Aten. It is still debated whether Aten inspired Judaism or if Judaism inspired Aten. The reign of Akhenaten does closely line up with the time of Joseph and the time the Jews were in Egypt (around 1400-1200 BCE). For reference Zoroastrianism is in the historical record from about 500-700 BCE in Persia (Cyrus the Great was 600-530 BC), but is thought to be founded 1500-1200 BC in Iran or Afghanistan.

One thing I've been wondering about recently is about when people as a whole stopped worshipping the dieties of places like Egypt and Rome. What led up to that? Did it just fizzle out? Obviously, this had to have happened many times because there have been many cultures for thousands of years that were polytheistic. Will society go through another shift of belief the same way it happened before?
Yes Society will go through that shift! It is happening now even as we speak! In 2017, Greece recognized Hellenic Polytheism as a religion (I believe that's how it was worded, correct me if im wrong), and there are active rituals being done in honor of the old gods of Greece. I myself am a Hellenist in the sense that I am praying to Zeus and starting off my journey, and let me tell you that yes the Gods are here and always have been!
We can see the splintering of denominations, our most dramatic is the Christians, orthodox, catholic, Protestant, and Mormonism which some consider to not be Christianity but just resting on it. That without the preceding Judaism and the definitely not Christianity in Islam. In the east, there is Yellow and Red Buddhism which may or may not be more about politics and control than Theology IDK? There are several good RU-vid videos about this subject, but basically, the church/temples and synagogues provided more services in the past such as welfare, money exchange, hostels for travelers/missionaries, and business/government connections. In most religions, you must convert to marry, normally women. Add the benefits and the wealth and connections then more and more people flock to the successful religions (and teach the kids and grandkids they were always so), and as soon as the Monarch or the state makes it an official religion then you curry favor by being in their same church, and those with his/her ear will be scattered through other churches so if you want to influence with the bureaucrats at the royal court you join their church and get your second son in as a priest. (Quick theory time, Islam is so strong and dogmatic because the British took over all the civilian jobs and sacked or sidelined the local population, so the only role of real influence they could not take over was Imam, so there was a sudden oversupply of Imams and unemployed followers).
I believe over time it was just Christianity taking hold (as well as the other Abrahamic religions), mainly once they started taking over the Roman Empire and a lot of Europe. I believe that society is definitely going through major changes right now in terms of religion. About a hundred years ago the "default" was Christianity in most places (at least in western society) and now a lot more people are converting religions, becoming athiestic/agnostic, or tuning back to more traditional/old religions like Paganism and it's various branches. I think it's mostly because people are starting to realise that you can be a good/moral person without religion, as well as other things that relate to what used to be said and were common beliefs way back when.
On your point about Hinduism, it get's me to thinking what religion in the West would be like if history had taken a different turn. The idea of Hinduism as one unified faith. rather than hundreds of local ones, stems from Western Imperialism in the Indian subcontinent, first by the Islamic empires, later by European ones, and I wonder - had it been the other way round and the West been conquered by Indian empires - what they would have made of our beliefs. Almost certainly Christianity and Judaism would be classified as types Islam (the Abrahamic faith with which they were most acquainted). And - just as European grouping of various Vedic faiths led to a more cohesive Hindu religion - I wonder if this might have led to more syncretism between Abrahamic religions. Certainly I can see the sectarian conflicts between Catholics and Protestants, and Sunnis and Shiites, being diminished. It's funny to think of, I'm a Christian, a Catholic to be specific, and while I respect the views of Protestants, and the beliefs of Jews and Muslims, I don't think I fancy the idea of being of being classified as being the same as them in terms of belief. I wonder if many Hindus feel the same, do they - perhaps - find are classification of all Vedic faiths as Hinduism offensive, when - between two people called Hindu - there might be significant variation in style of worship, the gods that have precedence, and dietary requirements. Hindus in the comments, your thoughts on this?
Actually most Hindus don't find it offensive. Hinduism was never under same umbrella, neither were other modern dharmic religions any different from any other sect of "Hinduism"....they were just means to get spirituality....it was diverse, with many beliefs coexisting together. It often once had ability to assimilate other religions beliefs into their own, just like any other ancient religion. A king born into vaishnav family might want to end his life like a Jain monk and follow Jain traditions in his last moments of life, and it wouldn't be a problem, because that's what is his belief...his children weren't obligated to follow his path either. They might like Buddhism, or shaivism... religion was means of spirituality and wasn't ruled over strict rules. Ofcourse religion, like any other part of the world was used for politics too, which might have caused some minor rifts between the different sects, king wanting to make the god of his faith to be followed among masses, his opponents might want to make the god of their own faith to become popular, i think it was just a political move. I wouldn't say that problem started occurring after abrahamic religions came into subcontinent, but they surely changed the concept of religion here...made it more...rigid? The concept of religion is very different between these two different religion groups, right? To bring people under same umbrella, rules were made rigid ..and that's what is modern hinduism. Normally Hindus are chill about their religion, they can be monotheist, polytheist, atheist and still can be called a Hindu without getting prosecuted about it..... let alone being from different sect(shaivism, vaishnav, shakta sects) they are not even considered being different in any sort....just being different ways of worshipping almighty. Can't say same about extremists..they follow religion with agenda in their minds. Most of them have political agenda in mind...they are the one who have all sorts of issues which people find in social media 😂

Furthermore, Zoroastrianism is said to be highly related and likely evolved from the preexisting Vedic beliefs (1500-1200 BCE) spreading from India into Persia and parts of Mesopotamia. This is quite likely where people get the idea that Jesus traveled to India to study, as the bible has several ideas that parallel Hinduism. Atenism on the other hand may not have denied the existence of other gods,; simply you cannot put the other gods before me, ie none are greater than the kingdom god. The exact belief is in dispute by Egyptologists. And Lastly the most striking parallel that people notice is that Atenism is Sum worship, while Zoroastrians "worship" (or worship around) the eternal flame, which draws parallels to the burning bush and may well simply be a perpetually burning natural oil/gas leak in the desert that can create noises that are very similar to voices and human psychology can turn into actual meaning. But the Sun/fire connection is not very convincing to me, especially since everyone had both moon and sun gods, and the most important Mesopotamian god was the moon that was worshiped at night under fire light.

I love your channel. Egyptian mythology is extremely confusing. They mentioned Sekhmet and being a form of Bastet. However, Bastet wasn't the only candidate for Sekhmet. Sekhmet is also known as the eye of Ra. Yes, Bastet is an eye of Ra, but so is Wadjet, Nekhbet, and Hathor. Plus Sekhmet could be a deity in her own right. Did you know that Egypt's original name was kemet. In modern times, a person who believes in the ancient Egyptian religion is known as a kemetic.
I mean it's only confusing because of how we view religion today, it was never a static practice and constant in change and it wasn't the same in every region. You gotta remember the ancient Egyptians were around for A LONG TIME and their gods and stories constantly changed hierarchy
@tux_xox2 very true. Egypt is very old and had been invaded by many countries. Wadjet was the patron goddess of lower Egypt. Nekhbet was the patron of upper Egypt. When upper and lower Egypt united their symbols. So, not only the crowns united, but so did the patron goddesses. These two were known as the royal goddesses. They not only protect the Pharaoh but Ra as well. Wadjet sits on Ra's crown. Bastet and Hathor are said to come from countries overseas and brought to Egypt. They ain't sure who they were, but they did. Throughout their history, power changes and their myths twist and turn. For example, in the old kingdom, Seth was actually a good God and defended Ra. However, over time, and by the time of the new kingdom, Seth became known as the first murderer. The God who murdered his brother over jealousy and hatred. As you said, things change over time.
The egyptian kings and queens wanted to emulate the story of Osiris (first king) and Isis. Even Ptholomi (greek general under Alexander the Great and founder of the last egyptian line) adopted this system of marriage.
At 19:30, I'm pretty sure it's originally kings who's hearts are weighed and eaten by ahmet; great video, my favorite story is the love story of isis and osiris where isis brings the world healing, medicine, science, and beer brewing; and osiris brings the world farming, law, religion, and education though; as a good example of why the kushites made the most progressive society in human history, though like alot of things that alot of people can take too seriously, as I love cats, but I'll try not to get killed if someone straps them to their shields though.
like 99% sure that most of the Sea peoples that went to Egypt/Hittite lands were Greek. This is mainly from the Philistines who we know were Sea peoples and we are pretty sure they are Greek from their pottery/architecture. The theory I follow is there were two main waves of sea people, the invaders of Greece and the invaders of the east, famine led to a breakdown in trade leading to starvation on the very trade dependent edges of the ancient world, this led to people outside of Greece to invade Greece (either tribes from the Balkans, Italy, Sicily, or Sardinia, or all of the above) and they completely destabilize the region, this led to a number of disorganized internal revolts further exacerbating the food crisis and eventually due to the massive pressures bands of Greeks began to migrate east by land and by sea overrunning Anatolia and almost overrunning Egypt to.

That idea of gods being deified kings lost to history is called Euhemerization, named after the Greek historian Euhemeros, who is the first person to suggest it (that we know of). It's often been used by later Christian writers to justify them writing about earlier pagan religions, famously the Icelandic scholar Snorri Sturlasson, who is our main source for Norse mythology, claimed in his foreword that both Thor and Odin, among others, were ancient kings.

In the story of Ra's journey through the afterlife (explaining how the sun goes around the world each day, and outlining what Ra and the people on his boat do each hour) during one of the night hours just before he emerges from the land of the dead, Khepri comes to Ra's barque and fuses with him. So yes, at some point, the scarab god and Ra do become the same god daily! I have no idea why the Egyptians thought this was needed, but at some point this part of the myth happened.
You should play Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, it's like 5-7yrs old now but was such a fun game to play my favourite of the series especially love the time period. Akhenaten: mid 14th c. BCE. Zoroaster: No consensus as to date, credible estimates range from 1500 to 650 BCE. Hebrew patriarchs: Probably not historical. I recall reading at least one history that places Joseph in Egypt during the Fifteenth Dynasty (1650+1150 BCE) based on probable ethnic affinities with the Hyksos making it the most likely period for him to gain favor, but I doubt it.
While records are short. American products has been found in Egyptian tombs and Michigan copper in ancient Greek coins. We don't know much about the ancient trade but we know it existed.
I know you're a high school history teacher. At least when I went to school, they tried to make ancient history as boring as possible. Thus I never really read up on it, prefering more modern topics. This is not exclusive to blue Jay, but I've always had an issue with people saying the sea people caused the Bronze Age Collapse. It seems more likely to me that they were a symptom.
I don't follow this closely but I think the general historical consensus now is not the conquest theory but rather a confluence of factors, ranging from climate change due to droughts and earthquakes to the breakdown of trade to the internal chaos caused by invasions(themselves probably forced out of their homelands by a multitude of factors.)
