In the video, you will see a nail at the bottom of the tree that my lights are attached to. That nail has been in the tree for years so I decided to use it. I DO NOT recommend putting nails in a tree to attach your lights. All you need to do is tie the plug around the strand when you come back around for the first wrap. You can use a zip tie if that is easier for you.
Coming from someone who wraps trees for 3 months out of the year, I'd say the only major thing that might make it easier to do this process is wrapping from the tips of the branches towards the tree. It eliminates some guess work and will save you from having to use excess lights and wrap them back into themselves. Also dark or brown colored cordage to tie between the light spacing so it doesn't sag on trees with smoother bark like a beech or Japanese maple for example. All in all good work on the video!
If you start from the tip of the branch to the trunk, how do you cover the other branches? Is it a different string of lights or do you take the bulbs off?
you have 2 options A) good art takes time, put in some earbuds and listen to some new music a podcast or a book on tape. enjoy the feeling of accomplishment and a job well done. B) smoke a fat bleezy and cut that tree down, wood chip it into a flowerbed. and never worry about the hours you could have lost!! C) be the somebody (who invents the easy method) and rake in the cash D) throw money at it and hire a bro liek the one in the video, but i bet hes not cheap, cause inflation is rediculous. i hang my own lights, not a 1/4 as good as the video, but i just dont care as much. some people are all about it, some dont even have a tree. christmas is a long dead fake dudes birthday anyway, weve just made it into a reason to buy tons of shit to give our friends n family.
@@CTChipmunk haha idk man iv watched alot of stuff on religion. closest thing i can find to true is bob marley love is my religion. to me nothing beats love, love everyone for everything. where i get upset is why dont these religious people actually do something with the money instead of building better bigger churches meet in a field, use every penny to build houses for the people without, feed those who need. how much does a church cost? how many could be fed or housed with that? if they (religious people) really thought their god was that amazing and powerful. they could sweat a sermon out for the betterment of others. i just see a buncha fake jerks attending some performance by somebody who doesnt want an actual job. but thats whatever.thats just how I (ME) feels about it. people can do what they want, aslong as they dont hurt or restrict fellow humans or animals, its a free country. hope your having a good day chip. and ted (iknow your getting notifications too 😂) spread that love yall, we all stuck up in this bitch (nobodys leavin earth anytime soon we dont all get to choose our lives as much as we think, born in middle east? im sure customs are different then im used to, born in england? i bet we look crazy accross thr pond but we are all humans just tryna make it) my original comment might have sounded rowdy, i was just tryna add some perspective :p im a happy nice gent :]
This video is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you SO much!! And for your links in the description. Very helpful! I can’t afford to go all out with my tree like this (even though it is exactly what I want), but maybe I will do a few strands a year until I get there. Or die first of old age. 😂😅 Your trees look phenomenal! ❤👏🏽
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I couldn't do this, but appreciate your effort and other homeowners who go to the trouble and expense to share the joy and beauty of the season with others.
Impressive! Just beautiful!! I always wondered what details were in this process. Very professional and it makes the children feel happy as well as their adult family members bringing them in to enjoy ;>
I priced out 5mm mini lights online and they're $26.64/each for 70-count commercial-quality lights. 79 strands times $26.64 (not including shipping of those lights) is $2,104.56. That's quite the expensive decoration for a single tree. That said, it does look amazing! Well done...
That's exactly where my mind went too. I love the design, but the expense is over the top. Also, the labor to put them up and take them down is a bit over the top.
Ya this dudes a little nuts. I thought he was saying “7 to 9” at first haha. When I realized he was saying 79 strands for one tree I decided this shit ain’t for me 😂
The ones he uses are linked in the description and much cheaper than the ones you mentioned. That being said, it’s still way outside of my budget. But I might do a few. 😅
Too many strands on the same wire in series is the problem. So what he did is split it into two seperate parts, trunk and one side and then the other two sides from that second plug. He joined them together at base for ease of use and clean look. If he put to many strings in a series it may blow since the string light wires may not be able to handle all the amperage over such a long distance. Hope that clears it up. :)
You are right. As soon as he added the plug at the bottom they are now one single string of lights. but the lamp cord can handle a lot more current than the the lights, so by branching off the lamp cord it's fine. Just like using a thicker extension cord with multiple outlets can connect even more strings. You do have to be careful not to exceed the current rating of the strands or you will blow a fuse, most led light strands have a 3 amp fuse.
Thank you for an INSANELY USEFUL video!!! I decided to put lights on my front yard tree this year, and I found your video, and WOW - Great tips, and EXCELLENT instruction. I am using many of your basic tips and insight! THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to create this video! I'm getting started with the lights on my tree, and thanks to your video, it's looking GREAT so far! THANK YOU! Happy Holidays!!
Wow! Great job decorating that three. Looks amazing! Thank you for taking the time to upload this video and for teaching us how do measure. New subscriber.
I absolutely love the look of those trees you've done up in lights! The house is so minimal, bc the trees are & imo, always should be the star of the show! **(unless you don't have trees, then shrubbery etc. Would be my 2nd, then the house or permanent human buildings or garages etc.) I will say I also love a nice light up, elevated ddck off a house, that's looks so nice too! I actually did mi e this year bc I could finally afford the lights and electric fir it lol. Your trees have so much character with all the twists & bends, it looks so beautiful and majestic at night! How wonderful to see people, young people especially. Taking thr time to pur up such beautiful Xmas lights. It holds such a pleasant sentimental place for me! Love to see them! Thank you, it was very informative and helpful! 👍🤗💯
I. Have. Got. To. Get. Some. Of. That. Wire. For years I've struggled with trying to run lights in trees and trying to figure out how to run the next set of lights so it doesn't look stupid. Thank you for showing us this. 🌲🌲🎄
Wow! What an amazing job! I'd hire you in a heartbeat because you're as much about perfection as me! Also, you just gave me the confidence I need to try these vampire plugs. Thank you!
I don’t know which video we originally watched to start wrapping ours, but we’ve been wrapping ours in balls for years. It makes it easier to store without tangling all the lights, and easier to on put on trees and or bushes when you get them out every year.
Many apprecatiosn for your share and great video. It's first time for me. I didn't know how to do. It's very helpfule for me. Thank you so much again! Happy Christmas to you!
😮😮My friend does landscaping and lawn mowing. But he said he makes a good money in winter by setting up and taking down Halloween and Christmas decorations.
I'm no mathematician but according to my calculations, material alone on this bank of trees equals about 4800 bucks. I'll stick with the inflatable santa.
For some reason my tree is shorting out? I’m trying to run my two trees and when I connect Tree 1 to Tree 2. Lights go out on both trees. But when they’re alone they light up fully. What’s wrong with my lights? They’re all brand new and fresh out the box
Im cringing at the memory of me at 15 asking the math teach "When am I ever going to use Algebra in real life?". Using the circumferance to calculate strand length is super smart!
If only i haf a tree like that insted of the one i do , it's big but too many branches n yes i do have lights hanging from the tree ,just not wrapped around too complicated with the branches..
I have to say it looks inviting as if it was a Hallmark card picture you did an awesome job man I'm sending all these to my wife and of course it's now on the to-do list thanks LOL
Hi Jordan, thanks for posting this video. lots of good information here. just want to make sure i understand this as far as cost. at the last section of this video you show a tree that took 79 strands of 70 count mini lights. so for me to figure how much it cost to do that tree i would take a the cost per strand on your site ($12.50) x 79 and it would run a total of about $987.00 per tree right?
Yes, that is correct. Also you can also buy a 50 pack on the website which will save you some money instead of buying individual strands. For example you can buy the 50 pack then 19 individual strands. Of course it all depends on the tree size and how many strands you will need. If you have any other questions, feel free to email us.
I've been doing Christmas displays for 35 yrs, graduating year by year. The problem I've had is that the quality of products have become worse. Snow we've decided to cut back and do less. But great advice. Especially on the add a plug and wrapping the male and female to stay attached. I've also use to what I call the Burt !! Bacharach, It's a back wrap for long end wires, so your spacing stays even
