Writing a LED ZEPPELIN Song | One Man Bands Episode 14 (S02E04)
This week we are finally Rock and Rolling with Led Zeppelin.
On Monday I covered their legendary track STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN which you can watch here - • LED ZEPPELIN - STAIRWA...
This one took longer than I could ever have imagined, honestly thanks to my work situation last year I was never really able to get into a real writing flow, and when the whole key to getting a Zeppelin style sound is letting the song flow and allowing each musician’s flare drive the dynamics of the song, this proved to be a real sticking point in the writing process.
HOWEVER, I’m really happy with what I’ve been able to come up with in the end. There’s so many quirks and intricacies to each Led Zeppelin member’s playing that it was a bit of a free-for-all in nailing down which things to include. But I hope you guys can hear the aspects of each member I decided to put into the track!

Congrats for the 1000 subscribers man. You definitely deserve it, and way more! About the song. I think that it lives and breathes. It has THE feel. Not one instrument is over the top nor underplayed. It’s a catchy tune I might add. It’s mind-blowing for me that you can just embrace the styles of another musicians and just make it look like it was effortless. I know that you put in a lot of work, but I think that it’s worth it. I’m just amazed by your playing and singing skills. Excellent work as always! The pastoral break sounded especially authentic -- could definitely see it being used to score a montage in Almost Famous 2: Nearly There. And I appreciated the drum insights, being least familiar with that instrument myself.

We just watched this video and I have to say, that your guitar skillz improved (because on drums you were already a beast). My girlfriend has a request: something from punk rock realm. Maybe classic - Ramones would be fun. Or maybe pop-punk, that has some kind of revivial right now. The Offspring, Blink? My favorite was always Sum 41. Thanks so much man! Honestly this whole Zeppelin saga has forced me to drill myself much harder on guitar, so the fact you can see it really does mean a lot, nice to know the work is paying off! Classic pink would be a super fun type of thing to tackle, different to anything I’ve done before! Ramones/Misfits are definitely a potential shout. Muse next.

Awesome-awesome-awesome! Man, I missed you! A always enjoy you talking about what musicians of selected band do, there's a lot of inspiration and cool info in that. I also do one-man all instruments music, but I'm more on the rhythm section side of things, i.e. I'm more of a bass player, and I noticed that bass players make a good keyboard players as well. By the way, I think you haven't done a Rush song yet, might be fun.

Funnily enough I actually started on bass, but really couldn't nail the keys, it's something I really want to work on going forward to give me a little more flexibility with artists I'd like to do in the future. Wouldn't mind you trying King's X or Pink Floyd. Both bands have pretty distinctive periods and competing songwriters, so it's interesting to hear which ones other fans connect with most. I have lifelong friends with musical backgrounds nearly identical to my own, but we can't agree on which three songs are the best on any given KX or PF album. :D

Some very big bands here but I’d be willing to give them a go, Floyd have been on the list a while, as you say it’s about picking an era really, they’re too wide spanning to cram into one song! It’ll definitely happen though

@@JohnAzopardi ha! Just down tune your guitar a half or quarter step for metallica, play is slowed down, then increase the speed until the pitch increases to standard. For sabbath, idk, wrap a bandaid over the tips of your middle and ring fingers to best simulate not feeling the tips of your fingers.
