*Name* : *Contact* : *Goal* : i wanna gain experience in the job market(or specifically in that retail)(is it your favorite restaurant? Why) *Edu* : talk about school (what did u learn?, clubs? And why)(stay where u are add ur gpa average if its good) *Background hist* : (babysiting etc are listed as jobs and experience for ur background) *basically sell the good side of you* Dont wait more than a week after u have applied, call them like "hey i was in an interview earlier (or however long it was id say give it a few hours before calling or checking up because they most likely forgot. Dont go longer than a week)just want to know if i got the job" or go up to the manager "i know we have had an interview not too long ago but i want to meet you and i want you to meet me" make sure you smile and sit up straight, u know how u are fake around people sometimes? Yea do that. (Hope this helped, just a little summery)

After applying online, I have my students take a hard copy of their resume and go in to the place they applied - tell HR or the manager that they've applied online and introduce themselves, say I'm excited to meet you and can't wait to hear from you soon. It's an awesome way to make a connection beyond paper!

Hey great video! I work as a recruiter, so I would advise that individuals include a extracurriculars section to speak about leadership experience from basketball or, the debate team. Recruiters spend on average 6-8 seconds on a resume, so it’s important that the space at the top of a resume is used tactically. Also, people should include metrics or numbers from their experiences. So, number of clients served, customer satisfaction rating, average number of children attended to at a time, etc. Lastly, high school students should prioritize gaining/presenting customer service skills because those jobs are more likely to consider hiring them right out of high school.

Kellie Meyer: I work as a recruiter and recently started a career advice channel, so I wanted to share some additional tips for your students! If they have no work experience, tell them to either plan to start a service type business that summer (lawn care, cleaning, babysitting, etc.) or to volunteer/job shadow with a relative or close family friend. During this experience they should focus on gaining customer experience and work to be able to demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and dedication to a future employer. They should also look to have some numerical results to provide (average clientele size/ number of customers, impact of projects completed, customer satisfaction percentages, etc.). Also, when writing in an experience section, they should think S.T.A.R. Format (situation, task, action, results). Hope this helps with what you’re teaching them!

Should I always list my past job experience no matter what it was, or how long ago it was? Or does it matter? Also how many references should I put down?

robert Butcher: hi Robert, I recently started a career advice channel so I wanted to reach out when I saw your question. You should definitely list your 2-3 most recently completed jobs. Only include other past jobs older than that if they are directly related to the job you’re applying to.

I will work full-time because more movie-goers want to see movies during the afternoon and evenings and take movie-goers' orders whether they want soda, popcorn, candy, etc. Also, I will clean the auditoriums before/after the show.

ZAX LAX: hi, saw your question so I wanted to reach out. I just started my own career advice channel since I work as a recruiter. You honestly probably want to keep that section brief. If you wanted to list something, make it clever. So, if I was a builder I’d put master builder looking to craft your vision. Or a teacher’s would be like “molding young minds for the future”. Basically, you are just restating your craft in a fancy way that will catch someone’s attention

I have a real question for you, is it possible to actually get a job at 13. I am currently 12 years old and have been spending the better part of my year building up my C.V by volunteering, running small businesses, doing small jobs for people and researching for hours almost every night. It’s one of my greatest aspirations to have a job at a young age and make some of my own money and I would love to know if it is actually possible. Thank you for listening

I was a patrol captain in grade 5&6 (I helped kids cross the street before school, after school, and at lunch everyday and assigned patrols to their posts as captain), would it make sense to list it on my resume as someone going into 11th grade?

Hi I’m a high school student who’s trying to find help in wording my skills with beauty and fashion I’ve done many people’s makeup assist planning set up for people proms making phone calls setting things up suggestion did a lot of fashion advice for many people around me I manage 4 sports teams among high school I still attend I babysit my neice only about 3 times I provided so much advice for hair and life and I’m even Vice President of my class how can I set up my resume and cover page specifically

Gaming isn't nice, being comptetive in it proves you have amazing analytical and problem solving skills. The only issue with gaimg is that its public image are people who are extremely addicted to it and never do anything else. You just need to portray it in a professional way, and also highlight that you were good at some certain subjects to eliminate the idea of you possibly slakcing off on the job and gaming instead, Just a hobby that you're amazingly good at. Also, congrats by the way!

In that case, it would be useful to include that experience because it was directly related to that company. You could include it in a section called “job immersion experience” and talk about what you did there, for how long, and who you worked with.”

Hi Tim, saw your question! I’m a recruiter for a hospital system, so I figured I’d give you some tips in case you’re still job hunting. In your education section only put your degree, the school you went to, and either a completion date or expected completion date. If you have a high gpa, and honor roll status, you can put that as well. As for your work experience, you should include at least your two most recent positions, but be sure to evaluate how you can make your experience relevant to the job that you’re applying to. Hope this helps!

I'm going onto 9th grade, so on the resume where it says "education" what do i put down? I'm sure that the man said that middle school education stuff doesnt matter.

OliThaDon: Hi Oli, you can say what high school you are going to, and in the years section say “anticipated completion date: 20xx” whatever that would be. That way they know you’re in school and you don’t have to bring up middle school.

OliThaDon: high school. They will know you completed middle school because by putting your high school on your resume, you’ve stated that you completed middle school.
