Not that I'm planning to write a webtoon, but these were actually all helpful tips for me as someone that desperately wants to write a book. All of the questions, and the detailed master document gave me a lot of good ideas and I want to try it. Also taking time to write every single week even if you're not proud of it was actually really motivating to hear. I don't write, or I don't draw, as often as I'd like because I anticipate hating the end result and don't want to waste my time but there's no way to get better without just putting in the effort, right?
as someone who has been lowkey (highkey) avoiding writing down everything for my webtoon and not just having stuff rattling around my skull, this helped get me motivated. thank you!
@@rayofsunshan this ended up being a wall of text mb lol // thx for asking i'm doing a lot better! admittedly i did push a lot of deadlines back but thats my own fault lmao i keep taking on more projects and i haven't really been working on it recently besides just visualizing cool character art. its kind of refreshing because i used to berate myself for not getting stuff done or working on it enough and now i just have a chance to relax. i do intend to work on it more, i have an actual clear plot in my head i just need to write it down. only problem (which i've had for like a year now) is IDK HOW MY STORY WILL END ;-; yeah i needa work on that because i don't like not knowing how to tie everything together. i did do some major reshuffling of plotlines and i did drop some stuff that didn't make sense in the story (was kinda sad because i was super attached to those plotlines :/) so the stuff leading up ending is a bit clearer but i still have no idea what i'm gonna do for the ending itself LMAO but uhhh tl;dr i'm doing a lot better than i was before!
The last tip definitely struck me. I've had this world in my head for a while and it's very steam punk. I thought I needed to make it more to date cause that's what ppl want
Thanks for the motivation and advice- this video is really valuable. I struggle with perfectionism and this helped me along my “journey” for lack of a less corny word lol. Have a great day/night, whoever reads this! Jesus loves you ❤️
So nice to see you talking about your process. SFH was one of my first webtoons I read and it was exact my taste! Romance, folklore, reincarnation, history ❤❤
As someone who has been trying to write a webtoon for a couple of years now, the content of this video was so useful. The questions were unique and good food for thought for my idea, and the general message was really encouraging. Thanks so much for your time!
This was so helpful ,I've been searching vor advice like this for like a week and couldn't find anything . Thank good I found this thank you so muchhhhhhhhh ❤️❤️❤️
i have been wanting to make my own story since 2020 ,but i could never finish it or start it,i only had ideas of what i wanted in my story to happen, but now that your mentioning all that,i never even actually asked my self any of those questions in my story, im so glad i found this video it really helps me because its gives me like steps i can properly follow and is easy for me,i really love your videos thank you :D
Great insight! Love how thorough you are with your project. You've even set up a guidebook for your story! We can all appreciate a thorough Author!🙏 These tips are extremely helpful!~ And it's all neatly packaged into one great video! 👍
This video had so much insight I really appreciate the more concise tutorial for making a Webtoon. I've been planning writing a romance story for a while. Thank you for the tips and techniques on how to make the Webtoons this was a big help. Also, give me my Webtoon Let's Go Black Jack a read. I think you would like it.
This was definitely helpful! I was on an episode I hated drawing/writing so I'm going throw that story out and write/draw one I'm excited about. I'm pretty sure people would love to read what I create. Thank you!
This was so helpful! I've published 2 fantasy novels, but I want to turn them into webtoons. It's fascinating and inspiring to see your process, thank you so much for sharing!
@@FrostbittenArt “Wolf & Witch” and “Teeth” by EE Judd. Werewolves and witches vs zombies for the first, and the second is Mercy Thompson meets Stranger Things.
You don’t understand how much this helped me! Since 2021 I’ve been trying to figure out how to put my own story out there. I have tried on multiple occasions and have dropped my stories every time within the first 10 episodes. But this helped me a lot! As I was writing while your video was playing I feel a stronger connection to my story and characters than I ever have!! Thank you so much
Thanks for the tips, I've been writing my story in script form. I find it's much quicker to get the story on paper that way. I'm debating on weather or not finishing the story before drawing out episodes. I don't know how long I'm going to make it. I suppose if I get writers block I can start on the art
I wanna make a webtoon like a biography, I wanna talk abt experiences from my life but as a character and maybe inspire people, I love drawing and writing is great for me to express exactly what I want. I'm 17 but I wanna write a webtoon in a near future, first I need to improve my art
@Sealah here too! I’ve been wanting and wanting to do a webtoon. I have one called Green Duke but no one reads it. I’m losing my motivation. But we can do it! When you publish it, tell me and I’ll read it. I’ll be your first subscriber! 😄
7:04 this actually reminds me of a cut scene from into the spiderverse, where Peter tells Miles that it's not about saving the whole world, it's about saving one person
One of my ideas for a webtoon is to make it a story with the tone of the TV series "Euphoria". I'm not a writer, but this type of story would be very attractive, but because the content policies don't allow it. I think that making a college story with drama and suspense whose themes are mental health would be interesting.
I have 3 stories in my mind that I really wanna put effort in publishing, they’ve been at the back of my head for more than 5 years lol. All those tips are extremely helpful in getting started, and that you have my gratitude. But I have a question: how precise should the writing be? And in what format? A script, a novel or just a general description of the episode?
I think they should be formatted however works best for you! :) there are creators that do everything in between or even no script at all. However, since we are a production team, we work in scripts !
the "they’ve been at the back of my head for more than 5 years" about the stories is SOO relatable and i'm surprised i can still remember my 27363 episode storyline for each one and they have gradually changed over the years for me, now i'm learning anatomy + character design along with practicing my writing to see if i can put one of them out there :))
@@spider-woah-man well I'm just trying to start with something to put out there to build my portfolio if you are concerned about the pay that's not what I'm hoping for it's just I wanna make something it will eventually start giving of it's fruits of labour
Thanks for this, it really motivated me. 😊 One of my main probs is that I want to create 3 webtoons and they are entirely different from each other, and I love these stories so much because it means a lot to me but I have no idea which one to actually start on. I got all my research and etc for it but it's the starting for me I'm like a Sims character on pause. 😅 By starting, I meant which one to first do. I have already started on all the stories and I have an ending for 2 but the other one I'm not so sure of but I have a faded idea for it. It's also the drawing everything that's overwhelming me. Have you ever felt overwhelmed?
yes, all the time!! what's helped me is making sure to take it step by step, episode by episode, and focus on whatever part you are writing/working on and worry about the rest as it comes. Sometimes plot points in an episode force me to plan the story deeper, and so i take that opportunity to plan as i write! Another thing that's helped is finding ways to simplify. What is the ultimate message you want to tell? How are ways to simplify your art process? As you work on it, you will find more and more places to simplify the work flow, but you won't know how until you start! :)
Hi I'm an artist and I'm fairly skilled in digital art . I want to start a webcomic but I'm not really that great with writing so if you can provide with scripts I can provide with drawn episodes and if it gets monetized we can even divide the income.
Very useful as someone working on a Webtoon! The questions you made to help with worldbuilding are things I’d never considered and I’m definitely going to add them to my document. :D
clicked on this video trying to find outline tips to write a klance fanfiction. safe to say a mullet was spotted. 👁 great video by the way! excited to whip up a logline for this bad boy.
this 'master document' thing i've thought about it! my 'lore' thing is always scatered across things. like. it is in docs, on keep, on random ass notebooks i have
Thank you for this video, I often hold myself back fearful that what I'm creating won't be good enough but this kind of content really made me feel normal about it. Thank you
I typically write in novel format, but after looking more into webcomics ive realized that my writing would bebetter fit as a comic than a novel. I see it all in pictures, but fail to describe those pictures in my writing. So im trying to learn about webcomics to see if that will help me get my atory out into the world ❤❤
I want to start writing my first comic/webtoon I already kinda have an idea of the characters and their motivations the world they live in and all that but the problem is i have two stories that i know quite a bit about i dont know which one to choose💀💀
My problem right now is to find something that I want to write for a long time and stay motivated. I did wrote and save them just in case I need it later.
hello! i dont know if you read comments on this video anymore but if you do then i have a question for you: do you only start drawing your webtoon once you have the full story mapped out, or do you write as you draw? i've been writing/planning a webtoon and i don't feel comfortable drawing it out unless i have the full story planned already. Writing as i draw feels like a risky method because what if I accidentally included a plot hole, or what if i accidentally wrote something i'm not satisfied with but now i can't go back and edit the story because i've already drawn the episode?
Hiya, this video is honestly so great and I’d love to hear you’re advice for a question I have hshsbs for a begginer, what is a good amount of episodes to start with? enough where I still get to have character arcs without derailing the story haha
I'm planning to write a story. I'd like to create it like a manga or a Webtoon but i can't do this all Alone. I'd like to have some friends or a team that want to help me with some concept and motivation
This is quite late, but would you mind if I shared a webtoon idea? I would like to have feedback from you and anyone else to see if they'd be interested.
notin to myself Notes for Not So UnLoveable: logline: After 15 years, Eric came back to his hometown after a job opportunity, then finding out that his forgotten love interest, Polineva, was back in town as well, but she wasn't as sweet and carefree as she was before. Will he fall back in love with his childhood crush? Will she accept him as her lifelong partner? There's only one way to find out! worldbuilding: - what is the world like? modern day, maybe a little magic elements, but its not the main interest. magic: humans do not have magic in any way, magic is manifested within nature, creating rare, unique events that no one is able to describe. No scientist has ever been able to get their hands on magic, only thing you can do is sight-see. What happened before the story? Nothing much, seen as its the modern day without significant changes. Characters: (all in another document) Series Outline of each episode: (all in another document) Notes for Soleniscient: logline: Valentina was living a normal, day to day life, until he finds out that very dangerous events are bound to happen, catastrophic enough to annihilate everything in existence. Luckily, he meets numerous friends along the way, making it possible to fight against that threat. But it turns out it wasn't as simple as he thought... Worldbuilding: modern day, highly concentrated in magic, multiple magical species like elves, orcs, fairies and everything of the sort. magic: 1- who has it? Although common, not everyone has the ability to manifest magic. I'd say about 78% of society does. 2- what does it do? multiple things, from moving small things to changing reality. 3- how do you make it happen? in order to manifest magic, you need a magic orb somewhere in your body (usually the torso), and depending on how many streams there are and in which element affinity you have, you can be powerful, or meaningless. 4- how is the user affected? The user can be affected depending on which magic and in which affinity you have. For example, if a Light affinity user attempts on manifesting Dark magic, the opposite of Light, the result will be very poor and can be damaging for the user. 5- how is the world affected? Technology advances a lot, but power hierarchy, social inequality and casualities do so too. 6- how are the magic users grouped and percieved? Magic users in general are divided into 3 main categories, depending on the way you manifest magic; Witches (low-rank/common), Mages (mid-rank/rare), Sorcerers (high-grade/very rare). but there are also cases of people that were able to manifest magic in two different ways, which is very very rare. Even Witch Mages are seen as equally as rare as Sorcerers (both high-rank). the hierarchy goes like this: Witches < Mages < Sorcerers = Witch-Mages < Witch-Sorcerers < Mage-Sorcerers Although there has never been a case where a Witch-Mage-Sorcerer came along, they would surely sit on top of the hierarchy pyramid. After that, the sub-Categories would distinct between Earth Witches, Fire Witches, Fire Mages, etc. Power: Who is the most powerful? - In a case where a being can control all elements and manifest magic in all 3 ways, that being is the most powerful. Who is the most weak? - Humans/Beings with no magical ability whatsoever. Who wants to be powerful? - Everyone is constantly seeking for power, but specially Polterrav What happened before the story? (all in another document) Characters: (all in another document) Series Outline of each episode: (all in another document) Notes for motivation: 1- accountability partner (someone to check your work, can be a friend, partner, coworker, etc) "Every (specific time and day), i'll give you an episode to read." 2- know your work speed. find out your pacing and keep it in a weekly basis. 3- writing environment make sure you have a very safe, cozy and relaxing environment, and make it consistent. 4- dont be a perfectionist, be proud by finishing it and move on. 5- write something you want to see, not what people want to see. be true to what you're writing, dont mind anyone or anything else. anyways ur rly pretty 🤩 n i fell in love with the way u talk 🧍♂️ just lettin u kno🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
