Thanks for this Andy! A colleague and I are investigating the rhetorical structures of grad student conference abstracts, and we've found that students - at least in language-oriented disciplines like Linguistics, Didactics, and Translation - really struggle with this academic genre!

This is just amazing stuff. I will be applying for PhD soon and I am about to start my research proposal along with (trying) to publish a paper. And this video came out at the right time. Thank you. This is useful. Do you have an example for the thesis abstract? It will be different because usually, PhD thesis has three or four chapters.

Hello Andy! May I ask why you study PhD in Australia but not in UK? It is said that it is very difficult to have scholarship/studentship to study PhD in UK, isn't it?
