Thank you for this -- so helpful! How do we get around making it easy to read (ie by underlining, bold, bullet points) when they just provide a plain text box for supporting info, that doesn't allow for these things like in Word?
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK

Yes in this case, I would use paragraphs as chunks and dashes as bullet points: - like this :)

I'm just wondering is recovery worker an entry-level role? I'm a Psych graduate and I've tried applying for a post called Support Time and Recovery Worker but haven't had any luck yet. Some also require NVQ level 2 in Care which I do not have. What would be your advice for this? xxx
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK 3 года назад
I had some support worker experience before I became a recovery worker. If you have 0 experience, I would try and go for support worker roles first :) The NVQ is something I'm coming across more and more but your degree should cover that to some extent! Good luck!

Thank you very much for this, I just wonder about age and applying for this jobs. Being in my 40s and want a change of career

Thanks so much! Age is a protected characteristic so they cannot discriminate in terms of age :) As long as you meet the criteria, I wouldn't worry!

@@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK Thanks for the video, I've just started the AP application process after completing an MSc (at 36 no less) so this is uber helpful! I do realise my application is short on clinical experience. Which types of training jobs would you recommend for clinical impact? After a decade of work, I'm quite good with cross-cultural communication, reporting and leadership.

@@trudyau Hiya :) I started as a support worker in a physical health/psychology setting - these roles can be really helpful!

A very helpful video! I'm applying for AP jobs currently and am unsure what to write for the Employment History section as all of my psychological experiences have been voluntary. The only actual employment I've had is working in a café, however, this is irrelevant to the AP role. What would you recommend I write for this section?
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK 3 года назад
Hi Luca, thanks! I’m glad it was helpful! I would write in all your voluntary experience but make it clear that it was voluntary :) Good luck!

@@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK Thank you! Would you suggest that I leave out the café job that I had?
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK 3 года назад
@@lucamariedettmann4783 no I would put that in, otherwise you might look like you’ve had a gap in employment :)

I have earned masters degree in Psychology outside of Uk. can you please guide me the process and requirements to get registered and which are the registering bodies ?
@izzymehmet2649
@izzymehmet2649 3 года назад
First thing you'll need to do is get accredited by the British Psychological Society so that you have Graduate Basis for Chartership - easiest way to do this is to do a Psychology Conversion MSc with a UK university

Hiya - I would have a look at the BPS website - they have a download about international students. www.bps.org.uk/sites/www.bps.org.uk/files/Accreditation/Study%20abroad%20guide.pdf You could always contact them to find out as it will depend on the course you've done and where, I expect. Sorry - I hope that helps!

You need to ask equivalence from uk naric and if you haven't experience you can apply as assistant Psychologist at the first ,where you are from?
@kechnora8639

For registration as psychologist its HCPC ,it's professional body you cannot work without as psychologist

Hiya, thanks for your comment! I honestly don't know, it's best to look at the HCPC registration requirements as an international applicant! Here are some pages that might help: www.hcpc-uk.org/standards/standards-of-proficiency/practitioner-psychologists/ www.hcpc-uk.org/registration/getting-on-the-register/international-applications/

Thanks Holly for your quick response ,I am waiting for my HCPC registration in international route, I sent it on 13 July .I have a good experience as clinical psychologist also I have family therapist qualification, and in victimology and training in psychometric tests ,but i am worried for my english language especially speaking and listening .I am trilingual French, Arabic and English. I think assistant Psychologist is the good way for start working in London. What is your opinion ,last week I passed an interview for AP in neurodevelopmental service but the manager said I am overqualified, I was very sad because I am without job since 3 years .thanks for your support and your understanding .
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK
@ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK 2 года назад
@@kechnora8639 To be honest, it does sound like you’re overqualified! You don’t need HCPC registration to work as an assistant psychologist. It sounds like getting your registration sorted and then working as a clinical psychologist would be best!
