I have no clue how to write a whole novel, but I always wanted to write/create my own fantasy action/adventure novel. Thanks man I’m definitely going to do this
Hey there. That's a good video with some nice information for people who are looking to write a quick story and don't really have an idea about where to take it. If I do have an idea myself, I write the list of chapters and a short summary of each chapter myself. Then I ask ChatGPT to write a summary of the story for me (or at least the act that I want to work on). And then for every chapter, I first ask it to write an outline based on the chapter summary I wrote. And then I ask it to write the actual chapter. That gives me a pretty good and coherent storyline, and it's quite satisfying to see my own ideas come to life. It also helps to explain ChatGPT to focus on storytelling concepts like "show don't tell" and "character development", or to ask it to include a lot of actual dialogue instead of describing what the characters are saying. That way, the stories become much more vivid. Have fun with ChatGPT!
And by that point, you’ve got an entire book you haven’t written yourself. This is all plagiarism. You people should just read good books and study how they do it.
Hey everyone, thanks for watching, give it a like if you found it helpful! Appreciate you! Most important point is ChatGPT doesn't have a long term memory, so you need to: A. make parts of the prompt that export succinct snippets in addition to the main content you want it to remember later... and B. include that extra information in all future prompts, whether that is chapter titles or foreshadowed events.
I'm very impressed with your video. Others basically say to get GPT to create an outline, then just constantly "please continue." I finally got to Chapter 20 of my novel. By 18 I had maxxed out GPT4 and I used the default which was very different. I still have a lot of tweaking and rewriting to do, but now I have "the bones" of a novel. I have been stuck on Chapter 1 for too long. I'm really glad to have found your channel. I wish you well and I look forward to other videos by you.
Glad you liked it! I'm planning another video soon for how to use gpt and obsidian for learning to program and for organizing notes. if you haven't done so, please subscribe and also let me know what other subjects you would like me to cover!
Thank you to the video for all your hard work and dedication. Your content has brought me so much joy and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Try 1. You are a {Genre} author. Your task is to write {Genre} stories in a vivid and intriguing language. Answer with "..." if you acknowledge. Don't write anything yet. Genre = Sci-Fi 2. THE PROMPT Title: [Insert story title here] Setting: [Insert setting details here, including time period, location, and any relevant background information] Protagonist: [Insert protagonist's name, age, and occupation, as well as a brief description of their personality and motivations] Antagonist: [Insert antagonist's name, age, and occupation, as well as a brief description of their personality and motivations] Main Plot: [Insert the main conflict of the story, including the problem the protagonist faces and the stakes involved] Dialogue: [Instructions for using dialogue to advance the plot, reveal character, and provide information to the reader] Theme: [Insert the central theme of the story and instructions for developing it throughout the plot, character, and setting] Tone: [Insert the desired tone for the story and instructions for maintaining consistency and appropriateness to the setting and characters] Pacing: [Instructions for varying the pace of the story to build and release tension, advance the plot, and create dramatic effect] Optional: Insert any additional details or requirements for the story, such as a specific word count or genre constraints] Fill out the template above for a {Genre} story Genre = Sci-Fi + 3. Build story outlines from the factors above: + 4. Great, now create story chapters from the outlines above: 5. Write Chapter 1-10 in depth and in great detail, in an intriguing writing style:
I tried this and was amazed at what it did. Certainly this is a cure for writers block! The 6000 limit to its reply are limiting but that can be worked around and I'm definitely going to play with prompts alot more! A good detailed synopsis really helps.
Excellent! I shall try this one thing I have found is chatGPT like to 'Tell" the story rather than 'show' I started a genre I've no experience in between the two of us we are getting it done. I find myself doing some rewriting but mostly it's me guiding the story my way.
Glad you think so! Most important point is ChatGPT doesn't have a long term memory, so you need to: A. make parts of the prompt that export succinct snippets in addition to the main content you want it to remember later... and B. include that extra information in all future prompts, whether that is chapter titles or foreshadowed events.
@@DonjiKong Man I love the guitars. I have 5 of them hanging on the walls my oldest is a 1967 Gibson ES125 sunburst. I am looking at my newest Ibanez classical that I need to restring. Thanks again for the help.
Nice! How do you solve / address the issue when the generator times out and stops mid response? Do you see this as an issue in your process? any simple solutions?
@@DonjiKong Thanks, yup, typically i just say; "are you finished?" and it continues immediately. Though wasn't sure if this would be an issue for the hack as a whole. Curious if you have any tricks for creating dialogue? The process is great for outlining the scene and nice language, but theres no dialogue :)
@@davidedwardsme Just tell ChatGPT explicitly to make the scenes dialogue heavy and to actually write out conversations between characters rather than describing what they're saying. I find that this helps. Another thing you could do is just let ChatGPT write a first draft of the entire story first. Then break it down into scenes and feed every scene individually to ChatGPT, with the instruction to improve the language, add more dialogue and make it more vivid and descriptive.
@@ObjectiveObserver Yeah its a challenge. I find V4 is amazing at many things, coding!! .. but when it comes to writing convincing dialogue .. its so rigid and lacks any emotion. Still trying to find ways to crack that one.
Great vid, Im curious, how does this new update compare to the bing ai? That is apparently using a newer version of chat gbt, not sure if its worth upgrading to chatgbt plus if bing can do it for free?
I don’t actually have access to it yet 🥲, but I don’t think bing has gpt-4 in the backend. I also don’t know how fast bing is since I haven’t used it. The plus version also has a turbo 3.5 mode which I’ll still be using despite 4 being out because it’s just ridiculously fast, which is sometimes even more useful than having better outputs.
Yeah, I actually just found out that I have access to bing with gpt-4, and It is somehow a little worse, I also don’t like the interface, it made me miss just normal chat GPT
Is your book a novel with more that 50 000 words? Or less? If I saw correctly you asked chatgpt to write 10 pages for each chapter? How many words is that?
This totally does NOT work. The chapters are way too short, despite telling it to not give away the next chapter, it does anyway. I tried breaking it down by paragraph instead of chapter, and still wouldn't do what I ask.
This takes all the spontaneity out of writing, you don’t write novels with outlines and pages upon pages of prep-work, you just write them! This it’s what non writers do not understand, they get so wrapped up in world building and fleshing out characters before they even fucking write the thing, you are not a writer, non of these bandwagon AI “authors” are
I actually agree, it seems like ai has spawned a new type of hobbie for better or worse, creating ai generated content. Maybe some are, but I'm guessing the majority of these people don't take their generations too seriously. I'm mainly doing this because I suck at writing, but its fun to toy around and see what output I get. that being said, i think ai can be a tremendous tool for overcoming writers block for experienced writers. I think for those who are experienced writers, having an extra tool to flush out ideas can only be a good thing. maybe george rr martin will finally finish his series hahahaha
The title of this should be 'How to write an entire shitty novel with the new ChatGPT 4'. I guess it's a good thing no one reads or buys books anymore, because the flood gates of no talent wanna be writers are swinging wide open. It was bad enough when Amazon let people self publish their "books" but this is going to be the final nail in the coffin.
@Sonomacats never use any of it, it admits its scrapped from an assortment of others published works and has zero creativity of its own, it can't invent a story only cobble one together
it's very hard to make a novel with GPT 4 has to be considered as novel a book need to be at least 40,000 words and this is without considering the average of bestsellers is over 90,000 words. so I come up with an Idea of adding some prompts based on the prompts you sowing us in your video which have helped me a lot. Please assign a number to each paragraph. This number must represent numbers in tens so the number of the first paragraph will be 10 and the second 20, etc... Now give a name for each paragraph with their number the format must be: “paragraph number”: “paragraph name” Then give me the story of paragraph 10 from the list below by adding subparagraphs. The end of this paragraph should set up the start of the next paragraph, paragraph 20, but don’t include anything that could be from that paragraph. It should be longest as possible without repetitive words. And focus on telling long sentences about the small parts of that paragraph; Introduction to Amauna and Asha, and do not give away anything that would be relevant to the later paragraph, only foreshadow things that could possibly happen in the latter paragraph. Do not tell the ending of the story or try to wrap up the story. Every story should end without completing the narrative. The focus should be more on describing the visual of the story than progressing the storyline. I want you to include past foreshadows events when that makes sense Then end with 4 blank lines with just a period. then I do ask GPT to add subparagraph well I was not aware as a such of thing as subparagraph exist maybe that something I just invented but its work
@@DonjiKong yes now I'm asking chat GPT4 to resume in lest (subchapter) as I use around 27 chapters for my coming novel so as GPT provide overs 4000 word per chapter that's make me over 108,000 words this is 10,000 words more than I wish for my novel. PS today I make a >>>FULL CHAPTER IN A SINGLE DAY!>30X
@@DonjiKong How it's work for you? Di you have any new development with the prompt's? On my side I have to make some adjustments when I review the story, mostly I make new prompt for every particular situation coming out with divers paragraphs and sub paragraph as I don't have find perfect prompt to apply in every case but as they are all different it's maybe impossible to come out with a magic prompt but the prompt you show work every time to start the story and my addition also. what about you?
