Let's be honest; writing learning objectives isn't the most exciting part of the instructional design process. But, learning objectives are important-they are statements that define the outcomes or the final results of the training experience. And if you don't clearly state or define the objectives for what a training experience should cover and achieve, how will you know if you've been successful? My point is that no instructional design or eLearning development project should start without a set of clearly defined learning objectives.
So, in this video, I'll share with you how to create performance-based learning objectives, including the anatomy of a learning objective, how to write terminal and enabling learning objectives, and how to use Bloom's Taxonomy to identify action verbs for your learning objectives.

L/Os are the guiding lamp of any course creation, aren't they? Without them you risk running into info-dump. For me it makes sense to compare any content ideas, modules, activities, etc. to the L/Os, and if it isn't fitting the bill, then either remove it or refine it. One of my habits now is to have the L/Os posted nearby while I work on content, as a reminder of my goal! Bloom's has been a great disciplinary tool for me. Can't stand seeing every objective start with "Understand..." or "Explain..."!

Thanks for sharing! I totally agree! As I mention in the video, good learning objectives becomes the north star for designing and developing the whole experience. If you get the chance, please feel free to share your comment on the main article here: community.elearningacademy.io/c/knowledge-base/how-to-write-learning-objectives-with-bloom-s-taxonomy-instructional-design

I thought the same until I read the book and realized that Bloom's Taxonomy is not for writing LOs but classifying them and validating test items ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FFYsuKG7JQw.htmlsi=sNvl1xU9AV49C-pS&t=361

@@alexdavidsalasThanks for sharing. Bloom’s Taxonomy is for both establishing the learning outcomes on the front end, which is used for measurement and evaluation on the backend.

@@TimSladeeLearning what’s your source? I happened to interview the author of the Bloom’s Taxonomy Revision. This is something many people get wrong.

1.Will the enabling objectives be different in case of Instructor led training and self paced learning? 2.Is it a good practice to use Explain as a bloom verb for measuring objective in an online learning space?
