How to Write/Produce Liquid DnB Drums

In this video I cover the process of writing and producing liquid drum and bass drums. We start out with kick and snare sample layering and then move on to writing hi-hats and understanding the various articulations we can use for more expressiveness. I also cover the concept of layering live drums over our one shot based pattern to give it a more organic feel.
Then we move on to mixing and processing our drums using various techniques. One of which is using clipping and limiting to reach competitive loduness levels and also using transformer / tape saturation to add nuance to our drums, then use buss compression and finally limiting to really flesh out the drums.

This is awesome. I'm mostly a prog-metal/chiptune musician so I don't have a lot of experience with proper electronic composition. I played that game Neon White and loved the DnB soundtrack so I've been trying to figure out how to write those kind of drums so this has been a boon.

Get addicitve drums 2, it will open your eyes on many levels. try to reproduce famous beat, you will realize that there is a lot less to do that you might think

Yes you have nailed the authentic sound, great work! Guess the whole Dubstep era updated the US to UK dance music. Back in the day when I was going to raves in London - the US was lagging well behind and seemed to use a lot more trance type sounds. That said I think the US dance culture at raves and festivals is much better as aesthetically its more of the psychadelic tip.
