go to Home > Number > Format Cells (under the little arrow). Then under Category select Custom and in the Type box put this: "#,### "m²";-#,### "m²"" (remove the outer ""). You can change the amount of # to adjust how many decimal points it shows. Hope this helps!

Wow... good one... got me thinking there for a while :D There's several solutions you can use for that one: 1. Set the cell to text format: cubicleoverlords.com/blog/the-text-cell-format-in-excel/ 2. Precede the number with an apostrophe ('22) 3. Use the equation editor: cubicleoverlords.com/blog/writing-special-symbols-and-equations-in-excel/ Either one of those should work. You won't be able to perform calculations on the number since it's set to text mode, but I imagine that what you're looking to do doesn't require performing a calculation directly on that cell, just displaying the math operation in a readable format.

The apostrophe tells Excel that what follows should be taken as text, and no math should be performed on it. As soon as you remove the apostrophe, it will go back to being a regular number in the cell.

Same idea: 1. Type "mm4" into a cell. 2. Select the cell and press F2 to enter edit mode. 3. Using the arrows and shift (or your mouse) while in edit mode, select the "4" 4. Press Ctrl-1 (or your local keyboard shortcut for font settings) or from the ribbon select the little arrow in the lower right corner of the "Font" menu section. 5. Select "superscript" 6. Press ok
