Tommy's branding is actually so strong, though. If you tune in to one of his streams, it'll start with the same song, he'll be wearing the same shirt (you know the one), he'll normally open a can of coke, and he'll say "welcome back, everyone, to the stream" on the beat drop. I get that a lot of that is more routine than branding, but its definitely dome of both. He creates a very familiar environment both on YT and on Twitch, and it gets people yo want to come back.
It's important to look at how he usually streams for an hour per live stream. This because he puts so much energy and effort, so he would be exhausted after a couple hours. Therefore, whenever he wants to stream for longer, he usually has more "chill live-streams" or goes live on his alt account.
Yeah but he took it even further one he was at about 1 million subs and started repeating the same jokes and acting the same way constantly to the point where it felt fake and repetitive
I've noticed Georgenotfound using the same thumbnail design with a red shirt in the bottom left corner & Minecraft in the background...apparently this is in connection with Dream also. The bizarre thing is that means we're headed to a future where everyone's branding/thumbnails are going to be really similar
When he goes on podcasts, he talks completely different than anything you see on screen. He is actually really smart and it’s no wonder he’s made it this far.
I feel like Tommy's videos are also really available to people who can't hear very well. The bad auto subtitles on RU-vid are very hard to follow. And even when there created and done by hand there still boring. So the way Tommy does it with the bouncy transitions and colour to match a person it not only makes easier to follow but also funnier.
I remember watching Tommy when he had less than 30k, and your points about constant movement, good story telling and text on screen, where all on there. I have to congratulate him he deserves it
I suddenly realised that RU-vid growth is not about conscious things like telling your viewers to subscribe and like, it's actually about the content and how you make it interesting.
Tommy is the entire internet's child. Like honestly, we adore this little man and his success makes a lot of folks who couldn't achieve that very happy. Not to mention he's genuinely an incredibly smart kid.
I've always thought about the fact that he uses colour coded subtitles as really neat. Typically for Minecraft videos no one's there to write captions for the videos and the auto generated ones are really just terrible. And when you're someone like me who cannot for the life of them hear words properly Tommy's subtitles are a godsend. The fact that he colour codes them is amazing too, cause I suck at recognising voices and the colours help me know who's talking. I just think that it's really neat that one of the many changes Minecraft videos got since back in the og times were the inclusion of subtitles that really made the whole experience so much better
From an algorithm analysis this is spot on when discussing Tommy's later on exponential success, but even in his early days was he a networking genius! He started out on a Minecraft server known as Hypixel initially doing party streams to then doing the very trendy and hyped Skyblock game where he grew to a few dozen thousand subs. Within the span of a few short months, he joined the Earth SMP where he did something similar to what Paddy says where he mentioned very popular youtubers like Technoblade and CaptainSparklez in his titles. The coolest part however is that he has been very persevering in how he got into these events. Honestly although Tommyinnit gets a mixed reputation he is very much a youtube genius. Great video!
@@itschrisboi6539 we are absolutely no where near 2022 and Tommy has green 3 mil in about 3 months so yes I think he will have 20M by 2022 or even more maybe, I mean look at Dream's growth, with that, anything's possible
You wanna know whats even more genius? You, bro. Seriously, its cool that you were able to notice all these things and then put them into an entertaining youtube video like that, i hope this video blows up!
Tommy also uses picture of him laughing in thumbnails because most of his fans find his laugh they’re favourite thing about him, or/and he is known for his laugh
RU-vidrs like Tommy with a extremely loud tone in content isn’t really my thing, but I’m glad his content is making others happy and I do understand how some people like very loud creators.
Hey Paddy - Would be really interested in seeing a video on how someone very successful in the education space on RU-vid has found their success. I think what drives success (and even clicks), in that genre is very different that what makes a great vlog or gaming channel. Love to see if something like this is in the cards! Keep up the great work!
Tommy's amazing. He managed to become this successful in such a short period of time. Unfortunately, it did cost the social security and the personal aspects of his life in such a short time, as well. However, this young man is strong enough and has the best people around him to overcome that.
@@vailingnewt3175 Everything. People shipping him with Tubbo, TimeDeo, being cancelled like how many times? Most of them from saying something a little wrong while another was for being friends with Schlatt who makes a joke out of anything he wants, a fangirl younger than him chased him out in public, I believe (You can search that), his life is different because people recognize him in the streets, etc.
Tommy just has amazing chemistry with literally everyone...like most people will be slightly shy and it gets awkwardly quiet at times, but Tommy will just keep it rolling and literally scream laugh at the smallest moments. Love him
Logistically, Tommy probably started learning about RU-vid analytics from the very start of his teenage years (13-14), which was really smart to do. A quick word of advice to any kid/teen who wants to be a RU-vidr in the future, give it your best shot when your still at home with family because it would be a real struggle when your older and have to pay rent, taxes and daily costs. I’d say that from 12-15 research RU-vid Analytics and from 16-24 give it a go. It may seem like a long wait to try but in the long run the knowledge will help you.
@@riotix1196 i think it is, cuz he does same thing on SMP earth being annoying but it didnt go very well. While in Dsmp, Dream on that time is sooo famous and creating boost for tommy, and then tommy made an interesting storyline with wilbur + with help of dream being famous make him gaining so much clout. This is my opinion
Awesome video! As someone who’s been watching Tommy grow for over a year now, another one of the things that has helped him is that he knows how to play to his strengths. This kid is a fantastic networker and uses that to get more exposure and do collabs that many other creators can’t. He also is very consistent with uploads. Most creators when they reach the level he has slow down a bit because they feel like they’ve “made it” but Tommy has never stopped the grind and continues to revolutionize his niche. I definitely have a lot of respect for what he has done!
Yeah I mean just from watching his videos you'd think he's just another dumb teenager and that's part of that relatability. He might be smart, but he puts on that persona so people will like him more. It's actually really smart
And theres a reason, nobody likes a smart show off, yet they want a brilliant you-tuber, this is what Tommy is doing, mad respect. He’s being relatable to impress his audience while using his brain
The cost of living is making people go into different businesses anyways, but my problem is that the rate at which money gets finished on little purchases is so surprising
I make good income too from bitcoin trading and its been my most reliable source of income at the moment. With profits I've made so far I don't think i can get broke or lack anything.
i would do that but idm about views. it’s cool and all when i get high views but it’s not something i’ll just try to get. i just do what i want to do, i’m doing youtube to have fun and share my work but wanting views is definitely something i understand!
@@superdogs1 not if you don’t mind about it. they matter if you want money, i can’t monetise my videos yet so views mean absolutely nothing. even if i could monetise them views still wouldn’t matter unless i wanted to actually earn money
Ok I knew Tommy was really smart but I didn’t know he was this smart like holy crap all of this makes so much sense he’s a freaking genius! And he’s nine days younger than me! And I couldn’t even think to do all of this in my videos!
He’s so smart. He went into college for editing. He’s doing what he loves and is finding ways to improve all the time. He’s one of my favourite CCs of all time
When a small RU-vidr becomes popular, there’s those people who think they’re cool because they were around when the creator had 1K subs or something like that... But nobody cares!!
@@Nightmare-dc5yk yeah, likes, he's getting 100 subscribers pre weeks, like, he's destroying everyone recommendation, and is destroyed stevee in the most funniest way as possible
I've been following tommy since 15 december 2019 and I vividly remember showing my brother a video from Tommy back then and saying that i don't understand how he does't have more subscribers and that his content is really entertaining. I am really glad i watched him blow up and it's crazy how many subscribers he has gained.
Hey guys don't be rude, ryan from the ryan world channel just want to entertaining the 'kids'. I mean that's a kid's channel SO It's for kids not us, you should keep your opinions back to your mouth even when you don't like it. Plus, that's were the kids learns manners and things.
@@felominocruiz3902 "Kids channel" Smh his mom use him for His family's Money and is a Convicted Criminal, Don't believe me? Search up "Why Ryan's world is bad"
1- he never takes no for an answer so he basically interacts with every RU-vidr he wants to talk to (like Wilbur when earth smp was a thing) 2- he’s actually entertaining 3- he plays with people who have big names on RU-vid
Hello, I'm new to Biticon trade and l've been making huge losses but recently i see a lot of people earning from it. Please can someone tell me what to do?
Being a newbie in Bitcoin investment and trading is very discouraging but since I met Mrs Annabelle Hartfield , she has really been careful in handling my investment.
Yes there are scammers in the business just like it's in every other business but there are also legit brokers out there for investors and Mrs Annabelle Hartfield is one of the real and legit brokers out there.
I predict that when dream smp falls, the sleepy Bois Inc and the long standing youtubers like quackity or the ones whose success doesn't rely from dsmp will continue on to grow on YT while on Twitch, I predict that Tubbo will reign supreme AND have the respect of the lsf/wider twitch community due to him streaming variety and varying contacts Mizzy Wizzy and for pushing BTTV which the Minecrafters don't usually get now for obvious reasons.
Yeah Tubbo is definitely gonna grow the biggest on Twitch, partly because of his connections and BTTV but also because of his consistency. The youtubers like Tommy and quackity have made it clear they are mostly youtubers and not streamers, and have made their presence on the site scarce on purpose so people go flocking to them whenever they do stream. It’s actually pretty fuckin genius. People like Wilbur and techno operate similarly because they know damn well their scarcity is gonna cause people to come in DROVES when they finally post or stream
You have to be popular in the first place for it to work, but if you aren’t planning on uploading weekly rewatchability is key. Can’t count the times I’ve rewatched Technoblade’s potato war series and the numbers show it. This also applies outside of Minecraft, Safiya Nygaard uploads rarely but her videos are incredibly rewatchable. Or Emirichu’s childhood crushes series
@@puzkinamvs4136 probably not i have like 4 channels most are just experiments to see what works and gets recommended and how many vids you make a week doesn't make a difference until you have built alot of loyal viewers who wait for your vids to upload and i don't have any loyal viewers so it doesn't make a difference, and spamming vids won't build viewers
As great as this video is, it seems to be focusing on "Tommy as the editor" when the original video referenced was edited by ArchieMcW. Along with other editors on the team, Tommy can guide them but the editors make it what it is.
To me tommy is one of those youtubers that you just subscribed too for some random video, and then you forget about him until he randomly gets 2mil subs
I’m very confident that Tommy will have at least 20 mil in a year’s time, if he is still relevant. Another thing that Tommy did is he hopped into the Minecraft and Among Us trends. Overall, a great video! Now we test if us animators can beat the algorithm :)
Thank you for the video on Tommy! Also: thanks for recommending the skillshare class by Mkbhd: I’ve already watched it and found it to feel badass! Raza :)
I have watched him for a very long time now- he’s always been so great, he’s so so kind, he’s not just a loud 16 year old, he’s so much more, people say he’s annoying but he really really is not!
@@salad4964 no that’s not what I mean- He’s kind, Okay? He’s kind to all his friends, Yeah maybe he curses but that doesn’t make him instantly “horrible”
That's awesome to see people expand and grow. Just waiting for my time when I upload a video and be recognized for it, been about 2 years from when I started but just gotta keep grinding
Hey Paddy, love the vids! I was just wondering if you could do one for Oversimplified? I'm struggling to see how/why they've got massive view counts on all vids, even the early ones, despite not having much content compared to a lot of other creators
That's because it is, all his videos are the same. Sure they have fancy packaging, but nothing much of substance once you open the box. He has left key info out on other videos he made, which was crucial to said success.
Awesome video... I already knew about the title and the top part of the description for YoutTube optimization but the bottom description that Tommy does actually blew my mind lol. Time to start flooding the botttom of the description with crypto keywords instead of just hashtags.
