REALLY appreciate you showing the whole process... including challenges, screw-drop, etc., and how you solved them - that will make it much easier to take when I encounter all the same things! Thanks for this great video!
As a single mom and I can't seem to trust mechanics with my sole means of transportation in 2021, I appreciate a great video that will allow me to fix the problem myself. Great job.
good advice ,mechanics made my car dead cost a new engine ,,, I learnt a lesson once I took apart a whole engine by reading honda service manual and while i did that i found how much the mechanics were amateur and liars and I found that the whole problem was a 20 usd heat sensor I change it and everything was fine but it cost me an eninge because them sşnce that moment ı do everything myself am an engineer and theyr are only kids learning things without thinking the where and whys ..go ahead trust yourself and you can do it,,,women are much more organized thats why are more adequate to do things clean ...salutes from Turkey
@@chawqueeThis happens to my aunt all the time. Car after car she takes her car to a mechanic and they charge her an extra exuberant amount of money, keeps bringing it in time after time and it stays in the shop longer and longer until she just says screw it and buys a new car again. She's tried hiring tweakers but they either don't know what they're doing or are pulling her leg for extra money. Telling her the parts cost more than they actually do so they can profit even though she's also paying them for the job to begin with. It's a shame. She refuses to learn how to work on her cars by herself no matter how often I've told her before to try her best to learn how to fix it on her own. She fixes everything else by hand in her house including the construction. So it's beyond me why she doesn't work on her cars herself.
This is car repair at it's best...lol. Almost always agonizing, especially when things haven't been disconnected for a very long time. Car repair is so often a lesson in persistence and enduring some pain...lol.
Was trying to diagnose my crvs rpm flutter at idle and was trying to figure out where to start in fixing the issue, this just pointed me in the right direction. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. My Honda crv 2001 automatic will idle and stall when stopping in the red light or intersection. I was trying to replace the IAC valve and I found there is no coolant line connected to my IAC. I am not sure if it’s missed or not. Is it necessary to have the coolant line? Actually my car has serious idle and stall issue when engine is cold. So every time I need to warm up first before driving but now it is getting worse because of stalling at stop. I really like my CRV and it runs no problem when driving. Thank you
Fast idle air valve can cause that problem too if it allows air to pass after car warmup. It suppose to allow air pass only when car is Cold, after that it closes when car get warm.
I did the job, but saw liquid coming out of one of the hoses, I thought: “there’s not supposed to be water in here” so I dumped a lot of it out. Turns out it’s coolant that reaches the throttle body, including the IAC valve. So now I got air in my engine coolant system and the idle jumps around lol. Now I gotta bleed out the air from the coolant system. Just in case anyone else makes the mistake I did.
@@michaelmaldonado2408 Put the front of the car on ramps and open the radiator and idle the engine until the thermostat opens (the top radiator hose will get hot, the electric fan will come on, and coolant will be circulating in the radiator). The ramps place the radiator high above the rest of the cooling system and helps to get rid of any air in the system. Turn the heater temp all the way to warm so the heater core is circulating. Add coolant to the radiator if it's low. Let engine run around 1500 RPM's for about 5-10 minutes longer until there are no more air bubbles or when coolant begins to overflow. Top off radiator if able and replace the cap. Make sure the overflow container is level with the "cool" mark on the side. It can be a little over but add coolant if it's below the "cool" mark. Take car off of ramps and drive it around neighborhood with the heater all the way to warm for a few minutes - then park it, check for leaks, and let it cool completely. Then check the radiator once more and add to fill neck if necessary. Check the overflow container in a few days and replace any coolant that is missing and bring level up to "cool". You should be fine after this procedure. Placing the car's front end on ramps will eliminate any possibility of an air pocket(s) remaining anywhere in the system IF the cooling system has been maintained and there are no issues like overheating or leaks.
i have a P1508 code (iacv circuit malfunction) however my 01 AT cr-v idles perfectly fine. i replaced the IACV twice and the car is idling as you described if it were broken (code stays). when i put the original old one on it idles normal again. any thoughts?
Can you use a manual transmission IAC valve on a automatic ? The price difference between the two is like $100 more for the auto vs the manual. They both look exactly the same part though. I am trying to replace for 1999 Honda CRV EX AWD 2.0L. Also is yours automatic and do you have link to the new part you used? At all Autoparts stores Advanced Auto Parts, Orielly's, and AutoZone it is $257 or so for the automatic tranny one and like $158 for the manual tranny one. I don't get why the price difference is so much!
Im not sure on that bro. But i think the part came from RockAuto.com. Quality parts and replacements. Just have to decide if you want to wait on the part to arrive. But if the part look ls the same and says on the description that it fits your car, only then you should buy. Check out RockAuto.com. look at the prices to see wich is convinient for you.
I try to solve my 99 crv because motor quites on me whenever it wants to, serveral options for me either replace ignition switch harness or fuel pump relay, or distributor, dig into coil pack, I switch distributor from my 01 crv still rite up, looking into RU-vid a guy replaced fuel pump relay so I did and start rite up
By cleaning the old dirty one IAC for 1999 Honda CR-V, it stay working for 3 years (the problem was with air conditioning when on the idle almost died and the computer turn the AC off to prevent the engine from idling low) and after 3 years the same problem.happen and I clean it again but it wasn't that dirty and it works for now but it is time to change it, I don't think it will take long anymore.
yo mate. Firstly Happy New Year.. I have a 1 question. In ur footage u use Low profile socket. If u dont mind can u tell me Where did u buy it and how much is it?
Hey Omar question for you, I got code P0505 which I know is related to the IAC, my idle is low, not jumping around, if I clean the valve and throttle body should that buy some time until I can get a new valve?
I just had a low idle issues before hand. And so I thought I should replace it and I did. And now it has a jumping idle between 1 and 2. What’s the issue?
I think it is because I got a cheap eBay aftermarket one. I can’t get rid of the problem. I have put back the old one and it now is back to the low idle like almost wants to die but doesn’t. I will be looking for one at a junkyard now another day
The valve uses the coolant temp to actuate the valve to open and close via an electrical device. You need to burp the air out of the cooling system after you replace the valce of it might not work.
Before you changed it, was your idle bad when you changed into R or D? Mine is okay when starting but when putting into gear it drops RPM and tries to stall
Hi Jay Dee. Thanks for wahtching this video. Both ways it was doing the idle then when on the road it would stall and would have too crank the engine up again. Replaced the valve and that was it. Good luck like subscribe and as always God Bless You
@@robertmackey1442 can't remember the mileage but I tracked my fault down to a bad rubber seal - it's like a figure of 8 to look at and was knackered. I used some instant gasket in its place and my troubles stopped and it became reliable.
Hi kc thrasher. Thanks for watching this video. I got the iac valve at auto zone. I don't know the price. The customer brought the new part. Or look up RockAuto.com and it should be there for a cheaper price. You just have to wait depending on how much you want to pay for shipping. As always God Bless and like subscribe. Thanks good luck
Hi there Valeria Martinez. Try some wd40 on the pigtail then blow air with pressure to remove dirt wich can cause the pig tail not too clip. 😑 don't rinse with water. Hope it helps you mam. Good luck, and as always thank you for watching like subscribe 😊
I bought two new iacv for like 60 and second 40 dollar and they dont work, the first one got fluctuating idle up to 1500 and down to 900 no stopping after cra warmed up, the second one i tought it does work, but the idle was too hight when the car warmed up like almost 1000 rpm, and the air conditioning doesent work with that idle, the computer turn the clutch off after 10 second of engaging, and what i did is clean the ild one with throttle cleaning (the problem with the old one was when i turned the AC on, the rpm engine goes down too low and the computer turned the AC clutch off) and put it back and drive for 3 miles and the AC worked perfict for two years no clutch desengaging anymore, but after the same problem.happen again and i clean it again and it workung for now but i need to buy the original one from honda after the two after market new ones fail to work properly.
Hi there. Yes always spend on the original parts especially things like this. Actuators aswell always buy new from dealership. Its a pretty penny to spend but man you will have a great engine running with oem parts
Go to a junkyard and get one off of a low mileage CR,V and clean it up well. You will be better off with the used OEM part than buying the Chinese junk available around every corner. The OEM part brand-new is $350-$500+++, depending on your location. Don't forget to clean the ports in the throttle body while you have the IAC valve off the car, or better yet, remove the throttle body and give it a good cleaning.
@@plumkey197 you right. I have now three low milage used OEM from ebay, one cost me 55 dollar, and it worth more than that, and two other for only 40 dollar, i bought only one, but the seller sent me two, but they were dirty: gascket and inside, i cleaned them inside and outside gascket side with throttle cleaner and they work fine.
W up got saint problem where you buy that one check auto zone to much one $198 for it the other one saying better $230 got Honda cr-v 5 speed tell me need buy one for manual auto it difrend thank bro good video
so i changed this valve and even cleared the code but it continues to pop up p0505. even cleaned the throttle with it on. so i guess the next part is to remove the throttle. 😭 (side note one my socket is in no man’s land 😂😂😢)
