Trains are an excellent way of transportation: They are comfortable, affordable, and, mostly, very safe.
However, like every other transportation system, accidents can occur. Train collisions are one type of these unfortunate accidents and can happen due to human response times and errors of judgment.
In order to avoid such accidents, engineers have developed train collision avoidance systems, also called TCAS. In this video, we will tackle the subject of train collision prevention.
Unfortunately, train collision accidents still happen from time to time all around the world. From train traffic lights to specifically developed systems, different countries have different approaches to choosing the best collision avoidance system for trains and ensuring train safety.
Most of these accidents are a result of human error, and the common ground of these train accident prevention approaches is to prevent human error to avoid accidents in the first place.
If you watch our video, you’ll see that one of the countries introduced a series of safety measures like interlocked block signaling while another one has developed and is testing an automated train protection system to minimize accidents.
By either working on developing new systems or trying to make the existing systems better, engineers and train operators are trying their best to prevent these kinds of accidents from happening ever again. If you are curious about how these systems work and why engineers and train operators take this issue quite seriously, be sure to check our video!

IMHO, the issue that is not adequately addressed is that, by relying upon radio communications, the systems are inherently open to jamming and spoofing/impersonation attacks. GPS is notoriously subject to both, for example, because the signals coming from the satellite are so weak. Signals from trackside transmitters are subject to simple replay attacks and, clearly to jamming and spoofing.

According to a professor of ours 9/11 was an engineers failure because he should have predicted that maybe planes would have hit the building. I am not even joking. And before you ask i study civil engineering

Yes we can prevent train collision but we should not use train in the first place because only the queen of England was ambitious enough to control the world by using train
