I put my hand on the sidewalls or on the inside wall of the tire to feel the temperature...
-Okay. and what I'm looking for when I do that is a noticeable difference between the 2 steer tires --or all of the drive tires- in temperature range. right. the way that it feels to my hand.
-- I used to actually take a digital heat gun thermometer out there and scan every tire, and this guy was baffled by it, bro.
--he's like: "what are you doing? you're not even checking your tires, stupid." and I'm like: "what do you mean? I'm checking the temperature on the tires."
--he said, "well that's not gonna tell you nothing. you're dumb.
-- I'm like, "bro if one of these tires is hotter than the other, typically it means it's under inflated. and I can prove that. i mean, let's touch your tires, bro. you just pulled in and I've proven that in front of people before."
--I'm like: "yeah this one's hot, man. it's probably 5-10 pounds light.
-- and they're like: "what?!
-- and i stab it. sure enough there we go: 5-10 pounds light.
-- you know if they're not within like 2 or 3 pounds of each other there will be a a physical heat difference in those tires when you first come off the road.
--don't let them cool off. you need to get out of the truck and walk down and touch tires because they will cool off very quickly... and don't touch the outside wall where the sun is shining on them. feel the inside of the wall where there's no sun on it... and you're just getting the the actual feel of the tires temperature versus the sun beating on the side,
-- so I'm just saying stab your tires with an air gauge [is] often the same. all right?
