This is how we really practice trumpet and get results! It's all about the long tones, flexibility drills, tonguing, etc. Trumpet practice should always start with a warmup, followed by technique and finally some music.

For anyone wandering, my theory of why we do that is because playing too much or too strenuous can make the lips tense and hard to play (often referred to as “busting your chops”), and loosening and relaxing your lips help fight this.

Hi there, metronome on, single tonguing 16th notes for 4-8 beats at about 84. If it sounds good go up from there until you reach your goal speed, ONE CLICK AT A TIME. Do it daily up to twice a day if stamina allows. Beware: this exercise can be strenuous for some. Rest wisely.

I just began playing the trumpet a several days ago, not experienced with any musical intrument at all. I've been practicing my buzzing, watching videos, researching things about it, etc. However, I have a particular issue which no matter how far i search everyone says the same thing and its not really explanitory enough. How do you do such a high pitch with only your buzzing like that?
@TrumpetHeadquarters
@TrumpetHeadquarters 7 месяцев назад
Buzzing requires a different level of aperture control than playing the trumpet. It’s actually not like playing the trumpet at all. You can learn a lot more about buzzing and other super important basics in my trumpet guide. Hope it helps! Https://www.trumpetheadquarters.com

Do you have overbite teeth? I have similar face structure but overbite/overjet teeth , im in trouble with high notes,
@TrumpetHeadquarters
@TrumpetHeadquarters Год назад
Hi there, thanks for watching. Most people have a slight overbite, so you’re not alone. To play the trumpet successfully most (NOT ALL) players with overbites have to bring the jaw forward to vertically align the teeth. This allows for a flat surface for the mouthpiece and even distribution for playing. If you’re having a hard time with range, accuracy, fatigue etc, it’s likely that you’re playing with the red of your upper lip due to the overbite. The trumpet bell would be pointed quite low. This can be fixed with an embouchure change. If you’re interested I do private consultations to diagnose issues and provide a practice plan. If you need anything else feel free to visit www.trumpetheadquarters.com for tons of resources and for info on those private consultations. 🎺

My warmup is just that. A warm up. Just enough to get my lips ready to continue playing. After my warmup I do about 45 mins of routine technique.
