Interestingly, players with extremely high work rate and pressing higher up a lot usually seem to stand out a lot against RM this season. Xaver (RBL), Laimer (FCB), Muller (FCB), Grealish (MCI), Bernardo (MCI), etc. That might be why Tuchel instructed just some of his players to press a lot individually and Laimer was one of them
i was a BIG fan of how Laimer was fighting for every ball in the midfield. Kind of reminded me how Kante was running up and down the field for the ball.
“It’s so funny how many times people always use “IF” when Real Madrid doesn’t lose a game, .. If Leipzig had scored, if Man City had done that.. “ - Thierry Henry
Tuchel won the coaching battle. The difference was the defender that replaced de Light. Compared to de Light is Kim these typ of defender who like to defend agressively and "foward". Tuchel said after the game that he was too greed. Apart from those 4 mistakes from both sides, Tuchel had the better game plan for the match.
Well, fingers crossed. Hopefully, your De Light will be back for the second leg. And we'll see what excuse you'll have to come up with after the match.
Tuchel's tactics in this one were incredibly impressive. Bayern's chances of advancing in the second leg will largely depend on their health. They showed that they have the heart & talent to make it through, if their top defender & attackers get/stay healthy I think they'll have a good shot at the UCL title.
Title suggesting that it is Tuchel's Bayern who got lucky in this game, while all the facts showing that Real should be very happy they didn't loose that game.
The first 20 mins Bayern was dominating and created good chances that Sane and Musiala couldn't finish well. Then the early stages of the 2nd half Bayern also played better than Madrid, scoring 2 goals to turn the game around. If they could properly contain the opposition which they had all the assets to do, then they would have walked away with a win
@@Niimerium Madrid only had 2-3 chances (excluding pen) which only 1 has been converted. Bayern had around 4-5 chances (excluding pen) where better decision making or finishing could put them ahead. RMA is a team of moments, not matches. They could play horribly throughout the entire game but still win because they used their moments and that's the magic of this club. But the fact is that Bayern just played better apart from some defensive moments and finishing.
@person9735 In the words of Thiery Henry, people use too much if buts when its Madrid that win. This is UCL and we get the job done which is why we have 14. Not reading all your shitty if buts crying stuff that also has no logic at all and is biased. Cant even decipher/apply stats properly to backup eye test too. 👋
@@Niimerium Pretty rich saying that since you're the one crying and using no logic in your arguments, flexing with accolades you had no hand winning ey? You didn't win anything, you're a glory hunter who watches a team win 14 UCL, pipe down peepsqueak and keep it civil.
Critics often accuse Carlo Ancelotti of lacking clear strategies against top opponents on big Champions League nights. However, if we apply the 48th Law of Power, "Assume Formlessness", we can view Ancelotti's approach in a different light. Ancelotti's strategy could be seen as a form of "formlessness". Rather than adhering to a rigid, predictable game plan, Ancelotti may be choosing to remain flexible and adaptable, adjusting his tactics based on the specific circumstances of each match. This approach can be advantageous as it makes Real Madrid difficult for opponents to analyze and counter. Just like water, which assumes the shape of its container, Ancelotti's team adapts to the challenges posed by different opponents. This fluidity and unpredictability can be a strength, not a weakness. It allows Real Madrid to respond to the unique dynamics of each game, making them a formidable opponent on any given night. In the high-stakes environment of the Champions League, where games are often decided by the smallest of margins, the ability to adapt and change can be the difference between victory and defeat. Ancelotti's "formless" approach keeps opponents guessing and allows Real Madrid to seize opportunities as they arise. So, while critics may perceive a lack of clear strategy, Ancelotti might be employing a sophisticated approach inspired by the principle of formlessness. This approach requires a deep understanding of the game and the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
Exactly, why would you set up a gameplan that is obvious to the public that it would make it easy for the opposition to think about the tactical solution 😂
Cool analysis, I think that Ancelotti is so experienced that he can switch several tactics throughout the game. Maybe one minor mistake I noticed (and that is already an arrogant statement by me given that I speak about such grandmaster, so apologies), but I think that sometimes (eg, against M City and Barca) Ancelotti was late with the substitutes. his players were tired and the opponents in both games scored. Something to consider.
Formlessness means playing without a clear strategy. It's like saying to the players: "Do your best. Seize the opportunity. Good luck!" 🤣🙃 No it doesn't work that way. Carlo has always put emphasis on defense and employed defensive formations and strategies like any Italian coach would do. Then they use counterattacks to kill.
RM's RB has always been lacking support from the start. It usually happens in many games. Carvajal at times needs to handle the winger alone, now the same thing happens to Vazquez.
@@PRT976 Nah. against city carvajal was helped by valverde against grealish. But for this game if carvajal played it would've been better, as carvajal is better at vasquez in defending. i would go so far to think musialas penalty could have not happened if carvajal played.
@@FootballMan-eb6qx regardless of the stadium actually. Ancelotti almost got it wrong yet again. Bayern vs Arsenal last time out actually Arteta made big mistake because Tuchel found huge blindspot in Arteta's gameplan
@@johnlau6749 Ancelotti apparently gets it wrong every match and every time yet ends up winning or getting a positive result. Maybe we should re-examine our definition of getting it right and wrong.
@@mariolovo3209 bro, winning comfortably is what matters most in times like this. The last thing u want is winning with warning signs because that wrong gameplan in the first leg is gonna cost u dearly
@@mariolovo3209 exactly, his tactic involve almost 'getting it wrong', a bit like de Zerbi with Brighton, but the difference is, when you have world class players and not just good ones, this can actually work most of the time
As a Cityzen like me, then you haven't watched both games vs Leipzig because they literally park the bus for 170min and thanks to Leipzig bottling 30 chances or more they went through It's true vs us they didn't park the bus at Bernabeu but apart from that game embarrassing from the king of Europe
It’s so embarrassing how people are mad that Real Madrid isn’t playing the way they want them to, Real Madrid know what games to approach with which tactics. That’s why they 14th times UCL champions
@@lulamabowdenmagwa6803They clearly rely a lot on "moments" and individual brilliance under Carlo. This doesnt make them undeserving, far from it, their mental strength and ability to snatch results from the jaws of defeat never cease to amaze me. But lets not say that there is anything special about their tactics. They have clearly been the inferior team for the 3rd tie in a row.
@@MrSoumyaBanerjee this is true. Bellingham did say in a post match interview that Carlo allows them to play freely and figure out what works best between them. Have to remember Carlo doesn’t have tactics on paper but his man management is second to none
Laimer had both incredible defensive obligations in covering Vinicius Jr. when he dropped and offensively in the second half he was their sole buildup link from midfield. Great stamina that makes me question his limits and will definitely warrant a rest day during the weekend in the league. I also think Tuchel's match plan and 2nd half adaptation don't get the praise they deserve when you consider man city struggled to create high yield chances against this side.
People are underestimating and quickly forgot what happened last year at the semis. Madrid were demolished by City in the second leg and Ancelotti admitted that. Also, Real were struggling against Barcelona and were outsmarted tactically several times by Xavi. Real wanted to avoid this happening by any means during this season. Given the fact that Benzema left, changes were desperately needed. Last year Real played with the conventional 4-3-3, which Ancelotti adopted during his first stay at Madrid. The very same construction was later used by Zidane. However, it became very predictable and Ancelotti knew during the summer that it is the right time for experimenting and selecting a new gameplan. Not only Ancelotti changed his own tactics, but as @sparkle-stories rightfully indicated now Real is indeed "formlessness". Sometimes they play 4-3-1-2, sometimes 4-4-2, sometimes even with Camavinga as inverted back and asymmetrical formation, sometimes Modric plays to the position and the role in which Pirlo used to play and it is difficult to predict how Real will play, regardless the opponent. Do not forget that this year Real suffers from severe injuries of Militao, Alaba and Courtois! Against Atleti, they even played without a natural center back! No other team would have managed to adapt so quickly and still be at this stage of the season in a top shape. Madrid put Barca at their place, kicked out City, won the Supercopa, needing only 4 points to take over La Liga again and now fighting for a third trophy! In fact, Real only lost this season against Atleti! So hands off from Ancelotti, he is a Mastermind! Can't wait for the next season and the new arrivals. Real will be stronger!
Yea bro. Like it’s full of Bayern and barca fan demanding that they should have won. Ngl first twenty minutes were bad for Madrid but I think for the rest we were quite solid besides mendy and Vasquez
@@ArmageddonAI One can never say that Real undeservedly gets results (since this is what they do). But no one would complain if Bayern stayed at 2-1, Real's defense wasn't as solid as vs City.
Next game Nacho is dropped in order to gain speed. Mendy, Tchoua, Rüdiger, Carvajal, Kroos as pivot with Valverde and Camavinga tight on either side with freedom to go up wing, then the top three of BVR. They did this vs Man City 1st leg to great offensive effect. They just have to control pace of pressing better during 1st 1/2 to avoid early exhaustion in 2nd.
I liked Ancelotti's subs. Replacing Jude with Brahim was a big call, and also replacing Nacho with Camavinga to push Tchouameni back in defence, lead to Madrid restoring the control of the ball and equalizing.
@@willyvonfalknerheim4128 haha, yet another one who underestimates one of the greatest coaches in history. That's fine, go ahead and continue doing so. Weep next week.
More like common sense man, idk what in the world made tuchel think it’s right to start sane on the left and musiala on the right when they played the opposite(the normal) for the whole season.
@@mightyskull you’re mistaken brother, he played on the right both legs. In fact he’s a shooter like robben cutting inside. It’s just that tuchel had a brain fart
@@needfoolthings I get it but sane on left is a disaster waiting to happen. The moment he was exchanged with musiala, they both excelled in beating their man
If there's someone to beat Madrid at the Bernabeau it's Tuchel. He's unpredictable compared to a Pep and his tactical nous is up there with the very best. I think Madrid will play a bit freely at home and that's where Tuchel will show how good he is. Predicting Bayern to go through
Real Madrid will win in the 2nd leg with Carvajal...Lucas Vazquez couldn't offer anything at the front last game but Carvajal is different breed in important games
In an age were football is filled with system players, Jamal Musiala is shining like a bright diamond. What a player. Tuchel showed his tactical acumen in this match, he deserves more respect than he gets tbh
The first leg tactics seem fine for attacking but wasn’t the fact that the central defenders were so far apart the reason why Vinicius had this much space to score? I feel like this is a very risky tactic against a team like Madrid which is known to not play for possession but transitions very well.
Well thats because ancelotti has a great player like vinicius who can finish his chances. I bet most forwards are gonna miss that 1v1 against neuer. Guys like Kane, haaland and mbappe score like 1 goal after screwing up 10 big chances. So the coach needs to literally get his tactics going to create that many chances, if they wanna score. Just watch how many chances Kane missed yesterday. That's something the coach can't control. Madrid barely created any real chance. The 1st goal was pure brilliance by kroos and vini. Most of madrids recent games have been that way. The Individual brilliance of the players and the final finishing is what saves madrid while the opponent forwards struggle to finish their chances. So even though many teams have outplayed madrid tactically this season, madrid managed to grab a win or draw against them purely due to this reason.
Tournament football doesnt require the winning team to have the best squad or tactics. Which is why upsets are so common while league football usually sees the same old suspects win over and over again. RM were inferior to Leipzig and City and were outplayed by Bayern yesterday. Thats an objective fact but football is about a lot more than just tactical matchups, esp in tournaments.
When you have wingers as good as Sane and Musiala why wouldn't you keep them as wide as possible as much as possible to attack the fullbacks 1v1? the bayern fullbacks would then overlap or invert into midfield. Isn't that the tactical question here? Bayern have 2 outstanding wingers Tuchel was playing not on the wings but in the channels 🤔
RM fullbacks arent great defensively. Vazquez got cooked by Musiala time and again. Although I feel that perhaps they should have attacked the half spaces more.
You didn't clearly touch on how Real made the first goal, the gap between the mid and the defense line was already pretty wide for Bayern. Everyone who's blaming Kim didn't clearly see that the moment he goes to press Vinicius, he's in two minds because there is Bellingham lurking in the half spaces.
Ngl, the production of this video feels off compared to your previous works. Theres a bit too much silence compared to your other videos. Ion know maybe add some background music or something. The analysis is amazing though.
Football Made Simple summed up Madrid's tactics by referring to his name: "Brazilian vibe and German precision, that's why it didn't last more than a minute 🤣 i loved. Very bad luck for Bayern, their centre-back Kim tried to Measure up but lost concentration and made the mistake 🙃
Talking about Tüchel adaptation and giving him a credit for that. While ignoring Ancellotis adaptation by changing the shape of the team by putting Camavinga alongside Kroos and Valverde and closing all the half spaces and made Tüchel look clueless then the equaliser came. Respect Ancelloti respect!!!
mark my words when kroos retire real madrid will struggle they have no other player in the squad like toni but we have his playng style player in man city who else rodri if ton retire i think they should sign him
tuchel, like many managers, are sacrificing wingers for control and playing full backs as wingers. Ancelotti takes a little bit more risk and organizes so that attackers can do their work.
If Bayern really have to play with Min-jae again, they'll be out of the CL. You can buy a player like that to play in the DFB Cup against second or third division teams or a CL preliminary round match against Istanbul and sell a few shirts in Asia. But you don't seriously buy a player with his lack of quality to actually play Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the CL. The mistakes he made caused both goals and at least the first mistake (even though Kroos' pass was great) was on the level of an inexperienced schoolboy player in the district league.
mean and biased German team and equally stupid racist fans do not know how to respect player when he had to play 15 consecutive matches for not worthy Bayern when other cbs were struggling. Kim is such a idiot to decide to play in second tier Bundesliga which is not so exciting and not so fun to watch. I HOPE KIM ESCAPE SHIT BUNDESLIGA ASAP JUST LIKE SON DID LONG TIME AGO.
Bring Tuchel back to Chelsea ASAP, he understands tactics which Poch doesn’t, just look at the difference, Chelsea usually play worse in the second half of games which has to be blamed on the manager, where here Tuchel seen what was wrong tactically and changed a few things at half time and Bayern were better in the second half, I just don’t think Poch is good enough tactically to manage Chelsea. I think Poch will be sacked when the season is over and Tuchel is definitely gone from Bayern so if there’s any chance of getting Tuchel back Chelsea owners need to swallow their pride and try get him back 🙏🙏🙏🙏
People in the comments praising Don Carlo for being a reactive manager and adjusting his tactics during the game while GOAT Jose gets criticize for doing the same thing and parking the bus as well
I think Madrid are going to win their home game by a very small lead, simply by virtue of not being in the habit of giving away easy goals, unlike Bayern's defense.
Madrid did exactly what they planned to do😂, they don’t care if it doesn’t look like their the best, as long as they have the quality to put goals away with minimal time on the ball they can play however they see fit

Bayern were sitting deep a lot of times, just rotating with the ball, wich led to 5-6 vazquez long balls to vini and bellingham, who couldnt win aeral battles cause goretzka and kim are way superior in the air, but tchouameni also dominated the high lose balls

If Bayern came with this result to the Allianz, I would say, they have a chance as long as it doesn't go to pens, but taking this result to the Bernabeu, yeah good luck. I hope I'm wrong though.
Tuchel may be the best tactician in Europe over the last 5 years. I always love Ancelotti's Real vs a Tuchel team because both are stylistically versatile and it's difficult to predict what gamerplans the sides will put out. These days where defending is harder than ever with the new Var interpretations they always somewhat amount to attackfests.
In the last years Bayern lost the 1st leg at home, this time is it a draw. Bayern is mostly stronger in Madrid then in Munich, 2017 was a 1:2 and 2018 a 2:2 in Madrid. Dont underestimate Bayern.
I don't give more than a 15% to Bayern to go through No chance for any team at the moment of beating Madrid after surviving in their worst scenario by far from them the Etihad Winning or losing they were performing dreadful vs Leipzig both games and man city second leg Still believe that City is the best team itw since 2020
lmaoo you think Man City is the benchmark? 😆 your win last year was a fluke because Lukaku can’t get the job done.. and since 2020? did you start watching football in 2022 or what? bayern was total dominence in 2019-2023 before tuchel take over.. and before you come with 4-1 winning with us last year.. just remember, nagelsman got sack before that match.. so tuchel don’t have enough time to implement his tactic.. you might think that this is an excused.. well.. we accept the defeated anyway.. but don’t think too high about your team 😂
I Genuinely Think That If RMA Had Both Kroos And Modrić In Midfield, We Would've Won The Match. Especially When You Have Tchouameni Handling The Defensive Duties.
Nope, Modric and Kroos cant played together on this types of games anymore. You need the physicality. The worst match of the season was the last time Modric and Kroos played together for good season (first league game against Atletico)
@Jefstito I Disagree. Atletico's Style Of Play Neutralizes Our Style Of Play, Regardless Of Who Plays In The Midfield. While I Do Understand That Physicality Is Also A Huge Factor, Having Players Like Tchouameni, Camavinga, and Valverde Makes Up For It. We Saw In El Clasico How Well Both Kroos And Modrić Operate. Sure, We Might Be Vulnerable At Times In Defence, But This Is Nothing New For RMA.
How? Performing like shit every game don't think so they will go through just being clinical that's it but they perform as bad atheir neighbours in Champions Atlético Madrid
