As with all of our Legends vs. Canon Series videos, let me know which version depicting the death of Jedi Master Jocasta Nu at the hands of Darth Vader you prefer: Legends or Canon! Personally, this might be the toughest one yet. There is something profoundly “correct” about Jocasta falling within the Archives that she dedicated her life to, but I think the story within the recent Vader comic series was extremely well done and added A LOT to Jocasta’s character. I’m going to have to lean, ever so slightly, to the Canon on this one. But let me know what you think as well! I hope that you all enjoy today’s video!

3:15 Look at all she and her partner created! A nicely hidden base and home. But her partner is left alone and wondering and waiting for her return that will never happen. She should have left the Grand Inquisitor alone and left the planet.

Canon wins this one. The Vader comic at least did something meaningful with the character and expanded a good bit on her. Though I must agree that it was a bit weird that Jocasta couldn't control herself and walk away from the Grand Inquisitor, failing to be a proper Jedi despite her particular position

Great points IO! I thought about that too re: Jocasta being unable to avoid the confrontation with the Grand Inquisitor. Here's what I ended up concluding about it, and I'd be interested in hearing what you think buddy: (i) It makes sense that Jocasta would feel so connected/protective of the Archives given her decades of dedication to them, whereby it would be extremely tough for her to just allow them to be thrown around and disrespected by someone; (ii) It was at least nice to see a Jedi show some passion in this moment, particularly given all of the events surrounding Order 66 and the rise of the Sith/Empire - an "irrational" choice is perhaps acceptable in the circumstances. That said, it still may have been a lost opportunity re: the memory crystal and training a new generation of Jedi. Nonetheless, thank you for the support and for watching as always IO. Hope you're 2018 has gotten off to a fantastic start!

Those arguments are very sound. Jocasta''s dedication to the archives is a passion in itself, and losing herself to it makes sense - the Republic and the Jedi have just been destroyed, after all, and what is left is being despoiled by the Sith. I'd like to see more Jedi who listen to their training, however. 2018 has been pretty decent so far. I hope for another great year for you and this channel!

In Legend she gives her life to safe many Jedis as Shat Ti, Paratus, Olins, Sha Koon, Rayce and many others to give a Legacy New Jedi Order that lasted 130 m9re or lesd when Disney Canon her Legacy gives a new Jedi Orden that lasted less of 20 years.

Juan Francisco Gonzalez Garza It wasn't as if Jocasta heroically fought Vader and stalled him in Legends. She was just the first victim and if it had been anyone else, the result would have been the same. It's only natural that some Jedi get a chance to escape when Vader and his clones come through the front door. I otherwise agree with the disappointment that is the canon's New Jedi Order

I prefer the new Canon version. It gives her more purpose and character (imo), she's shown here to not just be the head archivist, but also a badass in her own right, unlike her death in the old canon. It also added some dimention to Vader at this time of his life, which I liked a lot.

I like both legends and canon depictions of her death. The new canon comic has more depth than the legends story. As stated both are equally good. I enjoy the channel and the content

Why did you leave out the details about how she fought and lost to the Grand Inquisitor and Vader saved her and the robot sentry exposing Vader as Anakin and when on the transport she called him out in front of the clones and that’s why Vader crashed it killing all witnesses??? It was a lot of good stuff in that issue dude... you are by far one of the best Star Wars channels and it was hard to give you a thumbs down but I did it out of tough love you you and your great work.... If not for meeeeeee.... do it for Vader’s first lie to Palpateeeeen

I just finished reading the Darth Bane Trilogy, and I was wondering how Yoda knew who Bane was and about the Rule of Two, I watched your videos on them and where did you find the story of the Jedi who fell to the dark side and he learned about the rule of two and told the Jedi who did not take it seriously. I am just looking to read the story myself because I am interested.

I was wondering about Legends, the Darth Bane Trilogy are Legends books after all, and if you look at the Legends timeline Media, The Clone Wars is on there, including the episode that Yoda talks to Bane's Ghost.

Hey Jarod, great questions here! If I remember correctly, the story of Kibh Jeen was first introduced within an article written for Star Wars Insider. I just did a bit of searching and it looks like the story might have appeared in a supplement written to Star Wars Insider 88, within an article entitled "Evil Never Dies: The Sith Dynasties". It is definitely a retcon, but the story is interesting enough nonetheless. I hope that helps and thank you very much for taking the time to watch and comment!

I think legends is better. Not only did it show the power of pre suit vader but it made gave her purpose without extending her character more than it needed to be. The canon not only didn't really add anything to vader that we didn't already know but felt like Jocasta Nu was just there to pad out another vader comic, it just kind of felt like filler for me. My biggest takeaway from this was that this may help luke in the long run but did we really need to see Jocasta Nu again and I was kind of wondering how she didn't already have the holocron if she escaped order 66.

I agree, it was a badass way to be killed anyways, I wish we could've seen more fleshed out scenes of anakin slaughtering the sand people as well as the jedi in operation nightfall

"For I wonder what would've happened if she'd just walked awaaayyy." That's a fair question. And, thought this doesn't happen often, I prefer how Canon handled Jocasta's fate. 9 times out of 10, I prefer a, more-or-less predetermined death - to be a brave and defiant stand.

I don't know if it's better, but it definitely makes more sense. She was in the library when Anakin invaded and got killed. All the Disney stuff is a little weird and it's like she's a different character, but I guess that could happen when everyone else in your order is dead.

I don't really like the idea of that lightsaber gun thing. It just doesn't seem to fit with the Jedi at all. It seems more like something the ancient Sith would use in battle against the Jedi. As for Jocasta's death, I may hate the New Canon and prefer Legends, but I really not care how she died. Never really cared or her character that much.

Normally I would say legends is better but this time the canon one added more depth. However, there are parts in the canon version that I don't like and that I think are out of character.

Jocasta nu should of have a bigger more honorable death. She should have shoot some sith lighting at Vader. Forming a force shied making it shoot back her way. That would have been better. But just because I love force lighting either. You know because it my favorite force power of Manny.

it serves to show how Luke discovered many Force techniques , because he only had days of training with Yoda and Obi-Wan , so he needed to learn by itself.

Darth Vader what other reason would he light his light saber. My enemies enemy is my ally type of situation. Much more interesting story. They’ve killed every character on page not counting the movies so why kill her off page? To save ink? She’ll be back and this video will have to be changed. Not hating on the video but it will be incorrect if I am right.
