- - In today's video I want to take you through vibration acoustics and how it relates to your room. Airborne sound energy is created by vibration that travels through the air whereas structure "borne" vibration is a little bit different. When that airborne energy strikes a structure, it changes and converts to more of a vibrational energy and this has an effect on the sound you hear in your room.
So in today's video you'll learn:
1. How the materials with higher densities or weight will keep more energy in your room and keep more energy from coming in your room,
2. Why the frequency response is a factor of the material in your room structure, its composition, and the amount of room treatment you need and
3. Why you must take all of this into consideration when designing the room you are going to produce these frequencies within because they all have their say in what you hear and feel.
So enjoy the video and as always please let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks
Dennis,

could you please tell me more about airborne noise and structural borne noise ...thanks for video ...

Noise or frequency travels through the air and through structures. Both must be minimized. The science and treatment are similar but you must apply their differences correctly. This is the error most individuals make. They apply air borne technology to structural vibration issues which is like holding up a feather to stop a tornado.

Just found you and subscribed. Very pleased to have found your channel. I record and mix in an old basement with low ceiling and ductwork, furnace and other terrors. Surprisingly, I can get some good results. Is it worth adding diffusion to an environment like this?

B, Maybe. Lets take a look at the complete room picture. Fill out the information in this link: www.acousticfields.com/free-room-analysis/ Stand in room center and take pictures of all four walls and ceiling. Attach pics to form. Follow software prompts and schedule a time to speak by phone. Since this is a free service, clients are required to call us at the scheduled time.

Hi Gaurav, We have done such a video. It is entitled Seven Day Noise Study. It will be released soon.

Hi I'm from Holland...for 8 years now, I suffer from 'vibro acoustic disease' (hearing - extreme - low frequency sounds, feeling their vibrations in my body)...everywhere, so also in my home. Is there anything I can do to protect myself? In The Netherlands there are 1,3 million people living this experience in there homes.

A, You can isolate structures from vibrations and low-frequency energy. The process involves barrier technology which is a permanent build. It also involves measurements to produce the correct structure design. It is a complicated process and expensive. There is no easy fix.

Sir, how do we calculate the thickness for pipe reinforcement for this AIV case?
@AcousticFields

C, I do not understand your question.

I have tasks to reinforce piping of flare & relief system. The piping severe AIV but in pipe stress analysis i can not find certain thickness for AIV case even I enlarge the pipe thickness. What I got from references they just put somekind of pipe support or clamp to overcome the AIV. How do I justify this type of pipe reinforcement could overcome the AIV case?

hello , i know that may Q could be some how far from what you explained , i study architectural engineering and was asking my self if there is any material that can deform under sound vibration such as remember alloy the new smart material that can deform under heat , i intend to ask you since you know a lot about sound waves and things related to ! thank you

does a structure vibrating harmonically produce air borne noise, if so what is the source of air borne noise is it the structures normal velocity ?
@AcousticFields
@AcousticFields 7 лет назад
Hi Vigneshwaran, If you exceed the structures resonant, frequency sound can get into the audible domain.

2:07 - Actually, sound travels faster in most substances. See www.engineeringtoolbox.com/sound-speed-solids-d_713.html and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_sound
@AcousticFields

Hi kent mccarthy You are correct. Sound does travel faster in other material types. However in air, which is our sonic medium, the differences in speed are slight and remain within predictable and consistent speed ranges effected by just a few variables such as temperature and humidity. Thanks Dennis
