So we BOUGHT A HOUSE & wanted to share with you our experience. From saving tips, mortgage advice, ISA's and all things home, we talk you through some of the steps we took to help us save get a mortgage and on to the property ladder to buy our first home here in the UK. It was a stressful & exciting process buying our first home together and we couldn't be happier with it but there are some things we wish we knew before starting the process and wanted to share them with you all. Congrats on the new place and sharing your journey! Your house sounds amazing... :) As an experienced property investor, personally, i would advise first time buyers to avoid new builds like the plague due to the inflated price (consequence of government schemes), leasehold/management fees and usually no choice in conveyancer (again for a premium).

We’ve just bought a 2 bed house new build, we have done the shared ownership scheme and have looked into it for over a year! It definitely can be worth it, we move in March/April!!

@@AmyWragg aww you will honestly!! Just set out a weekly budget for your food etc (lidl and aldi are a life saver) and try to avoid the little co-ops for treats (that’s our biggest downfall) 🙈

Great video! I'm just in the process of buying a flat through shared ownership in central London and started crying when Shawn said he bought one for £250k a few years back.... I am paying more than that for my 60% share. Looking on the bright side it's most probably still a decent investment :)

Hello. I'm another first time buyer looking for a place on my own and was looking for advice and stumbled upon your channel. I've actually been watching quite a few videos, your place seems really nice, I guess the perks of a new build is everything is shiny and new. I know you did mention about the ISA, but I also signed up to a Lifetime ISA to get the 25% government bonus (up to 4k) which is going to help with solicitor fees. Also worth mentioning some mortgage have a fee to apply for them, but you can ask for the fee to be added to your mortgage on the off chance the mortgage falls through so you are not out of pocket.

The key is saving if you can. Especially if you can live at your parents. Tell me about prices in London ! In the UK the government can own 50% of your house I didn’t know about that !

Travel with Nadelina yeah there is a scheme called the shared ownership - I think the percentage of what they own can vary based on the amount you can put down, but it’s helpful for sure! Thanks so much for watching x

Congratulations on your new home and thanks for the video! Its great to know that your partner was able to sell his shared ownership property and make a profit! Can I ask how long it took to sell it and how much of his profit did he have to pay to the housing association? I think a video about that side of shared ownership would be so useful as there isn't much practical knowledge out there! Thanks 😊

Were in the starting phase of getting a house. Looking to do the help to busy equity loan. Spoken to a mortgage advisor and everything seems fine. However, we don’t have a solicitor yet and I haven’t heard one person I know or from RU-vid videos, say that the solicitor they had was very good. 🙈🙈

Are you sure the post office is offering a 5% interest rate, that's really high given the Bank of England interest rate. Are you sure it's not 0.5%

Hey! Yeah they don’t charge here in the UK - they get there money from the bank of which you decide to take your mortgage with :)

@@polebat we were advised one through the company we bought the house with. Mortgage broker should normally only take fees from the people which you get the mortgage with, not the buyers? Maybe try searching for a broker specifically for the type of house you are buying, ie. New build etc x

Quick question: Is it possible to be a first time buyer, sharing the ownership and have tenants/lodgers while you are a live in landlady? I've been searching online a lot about this topic and, maybe because English isn't my first language and I may use the wrong keywords, I can't find anything to solve my issue. Hey! Thanks for stopping by! I believe it’s something you’d have to check. I don’t think you are supposed to rent a room out to help you pay a mortgage when you’re in a shared ownership but maybe check with your mortgage people or your local authority! Hope that helps and thank you for watching xx
