herm a bit fast for a Mobility scooter ??? see from 00:48 for more features on this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cCz7USkbCOI.html
@@PodpadStudios Ope, didn't know it was a "mobility" scooter. I thought it was a proper street legal vehicle. Its a shame I would love to see a real Akira motorcycle.
@@Viperawezome yea that's a whole other project, maybe for the future - however you have to compromise on the specs from the bike as it appears in the Manga/film : as the laws of Physics come into play when you make something for real. The steering rake, the size of the front wheel, the weight distribution, where do you put the engine? HOW LOW is the person sitting inside the bike is a very unusual position (even in our prop (the electric one), it is pretty scary to stop because you feel like you are not going to get your feet out in time - so it feels that you will drop her as your feet are so so so far in front of you... also there's the small matter of turning corners - 90 point turns are not uncommon with ours...
Problem would be a hayabusa engine has so much power and unless ur riding ontop of the engine like a normal bike it would be hard to keep balance. Im sure u could find a way to get the engine in the front or rear but just not under you cause then u cant sit as low as the akira bike is. But if u figure out someway to keep stability u got it. That would be awesome
@@waffleszszsir5439 original thought was front end of Yamaha GTS with electric motor under the seat........ Electric motor far easier to control at low speed than petrol + clutch - then again we were making a mobility scooter max speed 8 mph !! You are right about ride position can be bit un-nearving in terms of keeping her upright
I'm 28 now And today I have decided that this is what I want. I will have bike like this just need to find the I will have bike like this just need to find a person to build it
Thanks for your comment. Its a mobility scooter and electric bike (at the press of a button 2 extra wheels come down and it is then a 4 wheeler not a 2 wheeler) so world's first mobility scooter Akira bike .... If you want to see more about this project see 00:48 onwards ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cCz7USkbCOI.html
Looks great until you want to lean into a turn and find that you can't! I guess it must have 2 wheels at the back, but must be pretty unstable in corners anyway!
This is awesome! Genius and very creative. Is there any chance you have blueprints or specs to recreate? In my life I would love to try and build one myself. It’s so inspirational. You earned a like and subscribtion from me
Thanks for the sub and the like - most appreciated. Ref Blueprints... sorry cos we build using the method cardboard, glue gun, "herm that looks OK", then onto cutting the metal ... So we don't really use blueprints as the 3-D object forms itself along the way with the build, and the cardboard gets thrown away afterwards. You can see lots of evidence of this method during our latest Build - the T1 tank-tracked Battle droid ru-vid.com/group/PLr65de2xUB5Pf3hyrChe-_Lp42nBSZe_0
i have to say it, the only way this looks like Kaneda's bike is using my imagination, looks good but that's not kaneda's bike, there is something called fiber glass, its easy to use and would look better with that frame. still a nice work!
Yes we have used fibre glass in other models - for example for this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JG0hV5rb6Ik.html (based on Terminator Battle field Tanked robot T-1) but the idea with the Akira was to use metal and make it a mobility scooter too - different artistic treatement of the imagery - in Anime there is a sense of flat surfaces / illustrated comic book style I guess we were having a visual joke - exploring the fact that the inspiration initially came from a 2-D art form ...
Yes very easy to maintain. All the charging sockets are under the seat. The chain can be adjusted in the normal way via the back wheel adjuster or via the tensioner sproket behind the seat. Front and rear tyres can be removed easily. All our builds are designed to be functional and as such building with maintance in mind is very important.
@@PodpadStudios I like that it almost looks like it be a hassle. also I like the fact it can look like a high tech with some triditional parts like the chain. also I heard that this style is riding has so much more advantages to triditional. aspeacial in long distance riding. wish they keeped making them like this. only closest ones were made in the 70 or 80. is it automatic? or still has the shifter?
Not as an electric bike. Fits criteria for mobility scooter in the UK, regarding signals, top speed etc. However turning circle is quite big 😉 so not that practical 😜
Master Maker makes every thing from scratch, by hand - we're a bit old fashioned like that, there's a lot of research a few sketches on the back of an envelope and then lots of tea and welding sparks and the frame appears, then there's lots of cardboard patterns (which all got recycled into other stuff like Animatronic birds ).... but we did find this link www.akira2019.com/akira-bike.htm with all the dims etc etc hope that helps. Because our bike is not a replica (its the world's first Akira MOBILITY SCOOTER) we changed the design accordingly ........
Yes bendy bikes - good for going round corners.🤪 Props from cartoons are the hardest to make as you have to decide which aspects to compromise on, since they are often totally impractical .... ... Initially we thought of a petrol engine and articulation would have been hard so we abandoned the idea.... . ... Now it's an electric motor we could possibly have made it articulate - would of made the steering easier - they did it with the bikes in the film "The priest"..
@__SK it's a 450w electric motor .. The bike converts from a 2 wheel bike to a 4 wheel mobility scooter. To comply with regs for the scooter it's limited to 8 mph... For more info take a look at this video from 00:48 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cCz7USkbCOI.html
Thanks for your comment Of course, you are right, to create EXACT replica takes a lot of time and money. Especially from a Cartoon reference as many of the laws of physics are ignored in the cartoon.... However, we like to always make props with a twist so that they are slightly different this is our way and we make technical and artistic comments when we make a prop. So this one was a mobility scooter too - having the extra wheels and we achieved that aim.
