We had fun this year checking out a few camping shows. We held a meet and greet and did a presentation ‪@torontospringcampingandrvshow‬ then two weeks later, did another meet and greet and presentation at the Kitchener RV Show ‪@ontariorecreationvehiclede5893‬ . We were overwhelmed with the response from our faithful viewers at both shows. Thanks to ‪@RVLifeMagazine‬ for giving us some space at their booth. We recorded the presentation in Kitchener so that those who couldn't attend could see the show.

Nice video! I have been a subscriber way back in your early days and have always enjoyed them as they have gotten better over the years. Anyways, I would love to see one video per year from those tiny little provincial parks that not many go to or talk about. The parks with less than 100 sires. For example, Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park. I know there is not a lot to do at some of these parks, but these parks are nice and quiet for those who like just to camp with no frills. Thanks!

Hey Cheryl & Ben, we so enjoy your videos & get real excited when you post reviews of our favourite parks; eg Rondeau, MacGregor, Bonchere. You feel like old friends that we could simply pick-up with if we ever cross paths at a campground, but then campers are like that eh :); ... suddenly your camp etiquette advice came to mind; ok then I'll wait till you are set up. Thank you for your energy and your good 'ole camping folks style. All the best this season.

Your videos are very useful for information about Ontario Parks. You mentioned that some people don't like when you show the campsites, well let me tell you that this is one of the most important features for me. We have a 29 foot 5th wheel which is not big by any means but its important to us that the park have bigger and easier lots to manoeuvre. I've also notice that some parks are terrible at keeping the brush trimmed back.

We bring ours home next Saturday!! I will be doing Cheryl's hug PLUS a happy dance! We've also switch from tent camping to a trailer in recent years and find that with better sleep and more conveniences, we have more energy each day for the fun outdoor stuff like hiking and paddling that we love so much! We still try to fit in a little back country camping here and there though... it's important to me that our kiddo knows how to!

My wife and I hoped to catch you at the Kitchener show, but the timing did not work out for us as we were there first thing in the morning on the Sunday, and unfortunately the show seemed relatively small this year compared to last. So, we're glad you've posted a video of your presentation. We picked up our Starcraft 187 TB recently and are heading to Coles' Site 47 on Birch Boulevard at MacGregor Point, inspired by your videos, in the near future ;) Looking forward to this year's content, keep it up.

Great video of the presentation you guys did for both of the RV camping shows! Interesting how your transition to backcountry camping to trailer camping went. I grew up frontcountry camping with my family in a tent, though my parents trunk.in their Volvo station Wagon was still jammed packed. Once I was a pre -teen I found a book on backpacking, read that and others while convincing my father to take me backpacking. Science a yout teen to having children in my mid thirties I backcountey camped exclusively. Once I had my children I went back to frontcountry camping with them and now we do both types of trips. Over the years weve found a good balance of stuff we take when frontcountry camping but still not as jammed packed as my parents car was. Having a trailer and keeping most of not all your gear and stuff in it all of the time must make it super easy and fast to prepare for each camping trip after the first one of the season!

Great presentation! Loved hearing the story on how you got your current trailer. 😂 One thing I’d like to see in your park reviews is overall bear activity in the parks like where they’ve been seen, chances of seeing them, etc. And I know it can change but as someone who doesn’t live in bear country, it would be nice to know. I know bears could be anywhere in bear country however, hearing about where they frequent in that park would be useful knowledge. I guess it would boil down to gauging how much bear safely is needed in that park. Is there bear boxes? Do we need to carry bear spray on trails? That type of thing. 🙃 I am headed to Ontario this summer for 2 weeks of camping and your videos have been pivotal in my decisions for parks. So THANK YOU for your hard work on these videos!
@CampingwiththeColes
@CampingwiththeColes 2 месяца назад
Thanks for the suggestion. We rarely see or hear of bears in the parks when we're there. If we do see or hear about them we usually mention it in the video. We have a few videos where we mention it but most videos it's not mentioned because it's not an issue.

It was great meeting you both in Kitchener! Do you find the trailer wrap worth it? Are there any concerns about it rubbing and damaging the finish or anything else?
@CampingwiththeColes
@CampingwiththeColes 2 месяца назад
I'm very pleased with the cover we got for the trailer. If I can't have the trailer inside or at least under a shelter of some sort, I want to put a cover on it. My main concern is the sun beating down on it all winter. It'll cause the roof caulking to dry and crack which could lead to leaks. Also, having the trailer finish and the start of the awning exposed to the sun all winter will fade it and in the case of the awning cause it to prematurely break down. Our cover is sized properly for the trailer with a bunch of fasteners to keep it tight. We have no issue with it rubbing on the finish. If you were to use a standard construction type tarp to cover the trailer it would cause issues with rubbing the finish of the trailer because of it's material and poor fit.
