Your video is wonderful. Thank you. I am thinking about planting these sometime, but I read they can be toxic - if ingested - well, I won't eat them & I'll be putting them in raised beds & keep my dog away from them. My dog doesn't eat plants anyway. But, I also read they can cause contact dermatitis & irritate the eyes. I myself am not sensitive, but what if I make a bouquet for someone who is? Or if their cat jumps on the counter & chews it? I heard the oils from this flower can be fatal. Have you experienced, or heard of any skin issues? Or toxicity with this plant in your experience?
@gingersflorals

It’s part of the buttercup family so it’s toxic to eat. I’ve never had an animal or kid try to eat it. I also have no issues with it being a skin irritant

I’m curious as to what you do with the corms after flowering do you dig them up and store like dahlias, or leave in the ground ? I’m also in 8b . Thanks for the informative videos.
@gingersflorals
@gingersflorals 5 месяцев назад
You can leave them until the leaves yellow and dig them. They need to be stored very dry and around 50 degrees. I usually buy new every year though. It’s just easier for me.

@@gingersflorals Will the heat kill them? First year planting mine. Should I dig them up and replant in October? Or will they survive in the ground for the summer? I am also in 8B

Hi. I planted my in March. I didn’t read before 😢 by the way, I’m in Texas. Do you think they will be dead from heat? Or they might survive and come back next year
@gingersflorals
@gingersflorals 4 месяца назад
Ranunculus really don’t like the heat. Too much above 70 and they suffer. The amandine series is a bit better with heat but not great. I’d try starting them in the fall this coming year

thank you for responding my message 🙏 I appreciate it. The thing is that my ranuncules are in the ground and already started to sprout up. That’s why I wonder what to do. Keep it in the ground or dig them and put in the pot or dig them and dry out. I really don’t know 😢

Hello! Questions from here in Atlanta (new zone 8/old zone 7b): 1) I want to plant mine in a raised bed. Can I pre soak now and plant in the bed or wait until later? I have hoops and plastic that I can cover them with, esp with all the rain we can get and nightly lows getting into 20s lately 2) do they need any water? Like if I cover the bed- or only water once they sprout? 3) what are good companion cut flowers to have in a bouquet with them to start soon?
@gingersflorals
@gingersflorals 7 месяцев назад
1) raised beds are great. i have some from last season still in a raised bed. You can soak them and plant them now. Just be prepared with frost cloth if it's going to get below 28 degrees. They will need protection. 2) if you cover the beds with a plastic row cover they will need watering. Though not often during the winter. I'd check the soil once a week to be sure it isn't bone dry. It's way too damp here for that to happen. LOL 3)I grow anemone, iceland poppies and tulips that will bloom the same time. You could also grow biennials (sweet rocket, sweet william, foxglove) which bloom around the same time. you'll have to start them late this summer for blooms next year though.

Nope. At this point you can wait until the first party of March to plant them. They'll be a little later than the fall planted ones but not by a lot.
