Throw away the human brush. It will do nothing for his hair, nor find mats. You need to get a slicker brush. A bigger one than you have would be good. Split hair and brush a little at a time getting down to skin. This will make sure he doesn't get any mats. After brushing use comb to go over dog. If you brushed dog properly then comb won't tug on hair and will ensure you that the dog doesn't have any mats you missed. Make sure you check arm pits for mats as most have matting here. I'm a professional groomer. Your video was fun but loaded with wrong information. Just wanted you to know how to properly brush Rosco. Your groomer will love u for bringing him in mat free lol Thanks again for the fun video. Ps I have a mini black Maltipoo. Love her to pieces.
@@HbKayleigh so very true. That's why I just had to say something. But she really meant well by making this video. Just had the wrong information to pass along. We have enough people that either don't brush at all or use wrong things to brush to deal with. No need sending out information that could end up having to have their pup shaved and start over like Roscoe had to
Hi Roscoe! I am Jerry a very active maltipoo and I get my hair all messed up. Those grooming tips will be passed along to my Daddy and Grandparents. Woofroo!
Your video is actually WAY more helpful than the groomer videos! I agree with you about using the scissors to saw through the mats. Also I refuse to just pull my baby’s hair with a comb. Again, thank you!
Hi Julia, my maltipoo does not let me brush him! Every time I brush him he starts to bite the brush and sometimes us! Do you have any tips for this? Love the vid
Rosco is often feisty too! It always helps to bring out some treats or his Kong or even a toy as a distraction while we brush him. Sometimes one of my parents will scratch or stroke Rosco while I’m brushing him, which helps him get his mind off of any pain. Thanks for watching!!
Give him treats after a couple brushes and reassure him it’s okey “ good boy” “it’s okey” “yes!” When you see him start to get mad give him a treat and let him, walk off for a couple seconds then pick him up and go again or if he gets mad try to be more gentle and pet him while reassuring him in the area where he got upset you where brushing him and again treats. If he has Matt’s or tangles instead of trying to get them out if they’re in an area where it hurts just cut it off.
If he keeps snapping at you try working with getting him to stop hitting either by putting him in the create and telling him “no” “bad dog” “no biting”
It’s what worked for us. I have a three year old Maltese Yorkie mix who gets snappy if I try and brush his stomach where knots happen a lot for him. I also have a 1 year old Maltese poodle mix and we did what I suggested and she’s great while we brush her but if she’s had too much or she has a mat we just reassure her and either try brushing it out or cut it out.
Hi Bayley! Usually for Rosco we try to keep the hair around his eyes short and clean the eye area often with water and shampoo. I haven’t tested out any products to prevent tear staining, but maybe that’s a video I can make in the future!
I’ve had a couple people ask this question! Maybe I should make a video about this. Usually while one person is brushing Rosco my mom or dad scratches Rosco to distract him. Sometimes we use a Kong or treats. Other times he just squirms and we give up :)
I just got a 3 weeks old puppy May I know what dog food should I buy for him? Royal canin or super coat or others? Vet suggest ed to desex him at 6months old. I am not sure. Should I take him to do that? Does Rosco been desexed?
We feed Rosco Wellness dog food (there’s a link to it in the description of this video). Yes, we decided to have Rosco neutered when he was 6 months. Thanks for watching and good luck with your new puppy!
He's 1 in this video. His ears are big simply because we let his hair grow a couple inches past the actual end of his ears. We like how they look better long :)
