The Hayabusa-2 spacecraft was launched by Japan’s space agency (Jaxa) in 2014.
Three-and-half years later it reached its destination - the asteroid known as 162173 Ryugu.
BBC Click’s Spencer Kelly meets the team behind the project to find out more.

IF WE DID ACTUALLY LAND A SPACE PROBE ON A REAL FAST MOVING ASTEROID, THERE IS ACTUALLY HOPE WE CAN SAVE THE PLANET EARTH BY SENDING MORE SPACE PROBES TO THESE GIANT SPACE ROCKS AND SET OFF BOMBS OR CONTROL IT , AND CAREFULLY SAFELY MOVE THE ASTEROIDS AWAY FROM THE EARTH ( JUST IN CASE ) RIGHT?? :)

this amazing, shows the truth of God (Allah). He said in alQuran Surah AlAnbia :30 tha the earth and universe come from the same source. After that, the world and universe saparated by God to two section, one named the earth and one section named universe.SURAH AL-ANBIYA AYAT 30 IN ARABIC TEXT أَوَلَمۡ يَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ كَانَتَا رَتۡقٗا فَفَتَقۡنَٰهُمَاۖ وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمَآءِ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ حَيٍّۚ أَفَلَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ Awalam yaral lazeena kafarooo annas samaawaati wal arda kaanataa ratqan fafataqnaa humaa wa ja’alnaa minal maaa’i kulla shai’in haiyin afalaa yu’minoon ENGLISH TRANSLATION Here you can read various translations of verse 30 SAHIH INTERNATIONAL Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?

I'd say It's an accomplishment for the world, not just for Japan, similar to the moon landing. Would you say:"We sent astronauts to the moon" or "The United States sent astronauts to the moon"? Space agencies around the world are cooperating, not competing.

Overrated country. America has contributed 10x more to the space industry. We've put people on the moon, sent a hand full of probes to Mars and are even planning on sending astronauts to Mars, etc etc etc. Meanwhile over in Asia India has managed to land on the moon before Japan. This isn't a competition, but if it was USA would be miles ahead of everyone else - facts.

The physics that I've learned Like physics of space Once that Craft lands on a celestial body It is now trapped in that orbital field The energy required to escape it Would require the launch from the asteroid Not have an equal and opposite reaction from the thrust And the fuel that's going to be required to make up that In that error If they're thinking of gravitational slingshot Will be waiting a long time it'll be interesting if a craft from another celestial orbit Can come back to earth From what I understand that would be nearly impossible if not a miracle I'm from America
