His furnace setup was amazing. The way he was heating up those pipes with his propane torch suggests to me he's using a diesel burner which turns into a gas when its heated up. Unfortunately, despite their hard word and dedication, they will in all likelihood be paid very little for the drums. Using untested scrap iron from engine blocks and likely many other sources will result in an unknown and untested alloy, resulting in varying quality. Breaking apart the moulds while they're still hot will cool them down much quicker, but will warp and temper the drums by cooling the outer edges faster than the inside of the drums. This means they will have internal stresses and will crack much easier and not last as long, and will also require more machining. They also don't use any oil while drilling, and also don't appear to pull the bit out until the hole is made, so they'll go through drill bits faster and will also further temper the drums. Painting the inside of the drums will mean that it will need to be stripped of the paint before installation, as paint is terrible for brakes. It would be much better to paint the outside and coat the inside in oil. While they work very hard to make them, they don't have any sort of testing or quality control. The quality of material and product is unknown and therefore untrustworthy. In short, there's no amount of money you could pay me to install these on my truck.

If you were to make a screen shot of this video in black and white, you wouldn’t be able to tell if it was made today or a hundred years ago. The equipment and methods are basically the same, and the labour is so cheap there why change. Who needs to worry about workplace safety. Unfortunately there is no shortage of desperate uneducated, or educated, young men willing to work themselves to death to earn money for their families. No snowflakes here, my hats off to these men. I mean it, I really am impressed with these men, they know how to work hard. I particularly liked the image at 2:33. It is a perfect example where old and new can be seen together in the most unexpected places. The image of the primitiveness of the work area and a worker with a smartphone just amazes me. For all we know he could be looking at viral TikTok videos, the latest “Karen” video or even studying quantum physics, unlikely but you never know. You never know and that’s what make it such an alluring video. A comparison Banksy might point out with one of his wall paintings.

I wonder if they’ve seen how we make brake drums. I appreciate the fact they work hard to produce even one drum. Doesn’t look like quality control is a concern there so I’d never step foot in a truck with those drums on it. But imagine them seeing our factories and the rigorous testing we do. I hope they make a lot off each drum because that’s a shit ton of work.

On the subject of QC, why don't you go there and "teach" them the right way of doing it, and while you are on your way in any case take with you all the technology you uses to make your so perfect. You see it is because of all your technology and money that theses people has to make do, question is how will you do it with out your technology. My guess is exactly the same.

Wonder how many times these guys wake up every morning and ask what did they do to deserve the life they have And respect quality control the trucks don’t do 80 miles an hour over there so lucky to do 20

I worked at a plant back in the 80's where a crew of twelve poured 190 of these an hour. Super automated, precision metallurgy, and lots of tools to help. I hear the kids today are pouring 300+ an hour and are hitting up against limits of local supply of scrap and ability to cool the castings before demolding. Messy work.
