Today’s episode is about one of my favourite things in the kitchen, Fire Cider! It was inspired by a special request from someone in my family who wanted to give it as Christmas gifts this year. So of course I was excited to help make that happen for her! The batch I made earlier in the year was almost fully supplied by my garden, but for this batch, I had to hit the grocery store! Where funny enough, I met three lovely strangers in the lineup who made my day with their patience and kindness while I struggled to purchase a $16 radish for my recipe! But that has nothing to do with this so I’ll move on ♥️
This lovely request is also for some fermented garlic honey so we’ll be mixing up a batch of that as well.
Whether enjoyed on their own or combined, Fire Cider and Fermented Garlic Honey create a symphony inside us that I absolutely live for! They are anti-inflammatory, immune boosting, anti-viral, and decongestants, which aid in digestion, and taste absolutely delicious. I make it into sauces, sprinkle it on salads, top off soups, and add it to wraps! I put that shhtuff on everything! Here is the why and how!
The key ingredients are
Garlic and Onions - They are super supportive to the immune system. They stimulate and fight against harmful bacteria and viruses. It’s even said that they increase blood flow!
Horseradish - Been known to speed up digestion and help to flush our systems. It’s immune-boosting and wonderful!
Hot Peppers - Loaded with capsaicin, it’s what gives peppers pep, it kickstarts circulation, warms us up, and can serve as a decongestant!
Rosemary, thyme, and Oregano - All amazing herbs for any time of year.
Ginger - Warms us up, reduces inflammation, eases tummy troubles, and wakes up the immune system!
Apple Cider Vinegar - FULL of probiotics that support gut health.
Lemon - Loaded with vitamins and can also help as a decongestant.
I typically chop and add the ingredients in equal parts, but it really depends on what’s in the garden! Sometimes I have way more horseradish or an abundance of onions. Sometimes I like to add extra garlic or use grapefruit slices for my citrus element. You can add cloves or cinnamon sticks. It’s really something you can play around with to suit your tastes!
The Fermented Garlic Honey is just that. Garlic and Honey!
I get my unpasteurized honey from a local gal. It is an immune boosting, body regulating, throat soothing, anti-viral, and wound healing powerhouse! 10/10 for supporting us and tasting amazing!
So I hope you enjoy today’s episode.
Have an awesome day!
PS
If the lovely people I met at save on foods that day ever see this. I truly appreciate you! I hope your lives are filled with joy!

Not yet, but it is definitely in the plans! We’re actually planning a sort of “garden fortress” for them. Something that can act as a layer of defence for bears and whatnot! It should be amazing
