That’s so fun! I like the little present idea. That’s sweet. We do 1st day of school pictures, a special breakfast (breakfast pizza) and I ask them a few questions to put in our yearbook. At the end of our 1st week back we do a fun field trip on Friday to celebrate. I make a yearbook that I add to throughout the year through Mixbook (the only site I’ve found a homeschool yearbook template on). I put the kids’ 1st day of school photos and the answers to the questions I ask them in there. It’s fun to capture our memories throughout the year and then we have a keepsake of our year. When I don’t feel like we’re doing “enough” or that we haven’t done much, I can go back and look through what we’ve done so far and it’s comforting. It also gives me a creative outlet through the year and I love it 😊

We have done a variety of the things you do. Generally we may or may not take the picture, we go out for breakfast around the time, we go back to school shopping for supplies and a back to school outfit, I will have all their supplies and new books out in the table in the morning, and we go for ice cream :)
So fun! I love making that first day back special and joyous 🥰 my favorite tradition is our back to school breakfast we do every year - homemade cinnamon rolls, bacon, and berries 😁
We do a back to homeschool breakfast too! Our gift is new school supplies lol 😂 and a book! I sometimes joke with my husband that one year I’m going to buy them pajamas & slippers for their new school uniform. I don’t take the typical outside pictures because we homeschool so we do indoor pictures!
@@HomegrownHomeschool we have a variety of foods with word puns lol… bacon makes everything better, cereal (I’m curiously glad you are in my class, donut worry 6th grade is going to be awesome, a variety of fruit labeled by a color crayon printout, French toast (bonjour) , and bagels (B is for bagel)! Every has orange or apple juice & a red apple!
We don’t do pictures but I’m ok with pictures if my kids wanted me to!!! We have information on their dreams and who they are tho!!! That’s what my kids wanted to do!!! We are define the 1st and last day but at the beginning of the school year my kids love writing who they are and their dreams!!! We end the year at Easter so we ended it with our Easter unit!!! In summer homeschool one of my kids started her social studies research project and she said it’s special as she’s researching something that she is instrested in!!!
I love hearing about homeschool traditions. We do first day and last day of school picture with the board, but I like the idea of canva paper to keep it. Thanks for sharing yours. I’m planning now to go to the store to get a few goodies!
