My dears: take this from somebody with life experience. You can always teach your child your language....just speak. The child can answer in the other language, it doesn't matter. They will learn. I say this because you still plan to have a child, right? Well, you shouldn't ever speak English only, or Italien only. Each one speaks in their language, reads in their language. Don't forget! Wow. I stumbled upon your food reviews a month ago, watched a ton of them and now had to watch this one after a bummer of a Friday. You are both so endearing, that really is the best word I can use. Your video put me in a better mood. Anyway I’ve also done background work (it used to be called “extra work,” haha) here in the NY area for many years but I’ve primarily been a stand-in on film and TV projects. Last week I just finished work on Season 4 of the series Succession as Brian Cox’ stand-in. So of course I loved how you met doing stand-in work on a series! Your story really is great and SHOULD be adapted into a film, at the very least a Netflix romantic comedy. Keep up the fantastic work, youse two!

Oh man I missed the live but watched the replay and it was so good. I loved hearing the details because I felt like a good friend getting the story and it was really romantic, funny..just awesome. I couldn’t stop laughing at your telling the organ donating story. My son was born in London from 2 American service members in ‘78. He only lived there 2 weeks before we returned to America. He can have dual citizenship but didn’t because he couldn’t do his job if he carried a British Passport. He can now. Britain changed that law in ‘85? I don’t know the technicalities but he couldn’t if he were born there now. I wish the US would do that. Just started watching the two of you, so much fun.

I am surprised that you did not learn English. My mom was born in Buenos Aires but of Italian descent. Her mom was American as well and her dad Italian. She and har siblings all spoke English, Spanish, French, and Italian.

I'm glad you brought up "correcting" each other......Jessie, just with this video here, I hear where you could "correct" your sweetheart on some words he is not saying correctly. Yes, it is cute as you say to hear him try to pronounce English correctly, but by the same token, you are there for him to learn it properly also. You should want him to say English words properly (and vice versa). You are to help one another. I notice when he says the word "girl" he is not pronouncing the L. He is saying gur....leaving off the L. Also when he pronounces some numbers, for example, when he says "nineteen" (or anything ending in teen) he is putting the "ing" sound with it, as in nine-ting. He speaks very well, however, you can help him to speak better. You two are adorable. (Does he have a brother for me?) ❤

Things that Ifound shocking moving here * Being asked to take a test showing that I knew how to read and write while trying to enroll in a University 😂 so i told the admission person "In Italy kids spend 5 years in high school, have to write or read countless papers and have a comprehensive written and oral exam at the en so of course they know how to read and write". * People disliking labor unions. Labor unions are ubiquitous in Italy and usually are well liked by the people although not so much by employers. * Fewer labor protection mechanisms compared to Italy, I was shocked that in many states employees could be fired at will. * Having to pay to go to the hospital and people going bankrupt to pay for hospital bills, I thought that was quite barbaric * Having little to no maternity leave and women losing their jobs for getting pregnant. Things are a bit better now, but i still don't like seeing hecily pregnant ladies having to work practically up to the day of birth and then being given only 2 weeks paid leave. * People being obsessed with race * People being uninformed of everything going on outside the United States. * Families being so separated, parents throwing children out of their homes as soon as they turn 18. Siblings and cousins treating each other like strangers. * Only 2 major political parties * 16 year olds being allowed to drive * People not bothering to vote, in Italy it is required by law and there are consequences for not voting

What a wonderful story! My mother was Italian, my father Irish. They met on a hayride when my mom stood up to move she fell on my dad's lap! When she went home that day (she was only 14) she told my grandma that she had met the man she was going to marry someday. Five years later she did. I love that you shared your story with us and I love watching your videos!
