Hey Overlanders! Buckle your seat belts because we are taking you with us through our preparations for a 400 mile off-road Overland Expedition! In this video we take you through all that we did to prepare for such a grand adventure that had no gas stations and no outside resources! We gathered as many spare parts as well as all the tools we had to ensure that our trip would go smoothly! We hope you enjoy this video about how we got ready for the trip and our long trek to St. George, Utah! Stay tuned for the following parts of the videos where we will dive into each day on the trails through the Grand Canyon! See you all soon!

12:25 You didn't show the fence - but I will assume that you are referring to the *"Sound Barriers".* Here in my state - they started popping up in the mid 1980's when we started having an upsurge in home building. Usually - on the other side of those Sound Barriers are homes and the barriers help cut down on the amount of highway noise that enters the housing communities... I also believe that they were built and are maintained by the *"U.S. Department of Transportation".*

You guys should do a tutorial on how to flush coolant since there no real video out there on it. Keep up the great content.

Ok we will look into that for sure!

There is no “flush” screw :/. Wish there was. You have to unhook the lower radiator hose and it flows out like crazy at the bottom.

Nice work, can't wait to see the rest of the trip. Good call on the bedding in the tent guys, ours stays in our tent full time. To me, that's probably the biggest advantage/timesavings/convenience of a rooftop over a ground tent. I'm curious, how did those factory roof rails hold up to carry 200 lbs worth of fuel? I'm curious if I can the way you went here, or if I should buy another set of yakima 1a's and some crossbars to carry my spare gas and water, or if those rails will work.

Thank you!! The bedding in the tent did save us a lot of time, we will definitely be doing that again! The rails worked good, i think the fact that we added the aluminum tubes to each side might have distributed the weight a little bit better. But it’s true, the factory racks did hold a lot of weight for about 3 days straight! Plus we had to use the tubing because there was no other way for us to mount the rack, so it just worked out that way lol. Definitely try it if possible, it was a much cheaper option and it worked just fine for us!!

@@overlandingworld I think I will. Did you use unistrut to bridge it, or something else?
@overlandingworld
@overlandingworld 3 года назад
@@MattKester it was just 20 dollar 1”x1” aluminum square bars that I drilled through. But I am sure that would of worked better.

15 gallons of fuel??! Jesus. I've been all over that area and that's way excessive. Normally going in w a full tank as possible then maybe two Jerry cans is Plenty

Yes but we were in a panic and didn’t want to be the ones that didn’t have enough gas.
