We were affected by hurricane zeta in October and was without power and water for 13 days. Our well runs off of power. We had coolers full of just water. We had to put a generator on our freezer to salvage food. We took showers by a hose connected to the generator. I work at a nursing home and we were without power for almost 3 days. Glad y'all are ok and trying to make the best out of the storm

I can understand everything you are describing, being from WI. I cant imagine how hard it would be to live like that without salt for the roads, plows, a power grid that is prepared for it - even for just a few days. I was so happy to see you all laughing through it.

I am originally from Upstate NY and one of our biggest power outages was because of ice. It took out many trees and of course lines were down all over. Luckily we were used to losing power so I had an emergency propane heater that kept us warm. We always had a gas stove because we did lose power several times a year in the winter. Glad you guys are ok and have a good attitude.

I'm from Minnesota and we had a ice storm in southern MN in 91. the power lines were full of ice and the wind started blowing. The electric poles snapped off like tooth picks. 4 county area was with power. The main electric sub stations were down. We were without power for 13 days. Got a small generator after 5 days with no power. We had a kitchen stove Used that for heat opened a window tiny bit. Learned any time there is talk of a storm I fill everything with water that I got. It's a great lesson for kids. The Lord will never give us more than we can handle.

So glad you all are alright, sorry about your trees but they will come back more beautiful than ever. In my life time I have never seen are expirence it. We were more fortunate then the most and had generators. My son prepared for the weather and stocked up on gas to run them. We were without power 14 hour's , then off and on for around 8. This will undoubtedly be remembered by all. My mother once said God does everything in life for a reason, to help us know his power.. We may not understand it, but it brings us closer together she said it will test us. The kids will remember this storm as a special time, it's a adventure.. Others may find it as a loss of a loved one. God's gift in life is not promised from any of this. It's his blessing to us, every day we awake to the gift he has given us. We stay strong as a family and do the right things to help others less fortunate then us. Life it self is beautiful in any situation snow storm are heat wave , and to experience it each and everyday I am just grateful to do for this gift God's gift to us. Thank you for sharing your experience through this journey. Blessings 😇

While you were having sub freezing weather Michigan was in the mid to high 30s talk about weather being confused. What you’re experiencing in Texas is normal for most northern states, it can be an adventure all right 🤣 I hope this wakes everyone up wherever you live to the necessity of a food and water supply, an alternative power/fuel source and a faith in Heavenly Father that will survive through the worst of what this world can throw at us. If you have ever been a Boy Scout you know to save tuna cans and corrugated cardboard, cut the cardboard into narrow strip and roll them up fit the roll firmly into the tuna can and pour wax over the cardboard until it’s soaked up fully, you’ll be able to heat a can of soup, stew or canned whatever, when your done cooking snuff it out by covering it with something nonflammable, some might laugh but others will eat a warm meal. Good luck to you.

We have had bad ones in NC. This is too familiar. No power for days. The last bad one was in 2002. The trees breaking sounds like shotguns going off. Transformers blow up here. Very scary and it does major damage to trees. It's beautiful but very dangerous! Stay away from the trees. God bless you all that are affected.

When you cut the trees that came up out of the ground, make sure no one is near the roots. When the trunk suddenly gets lighter, the stump and short trunk may rebound back into the hole. Unfortunately one couple lost their young son when the stump flipped back. Please stay safe.

Ive been in both. The storm season and losing power when it's 90 plus degrees is absolutely horrible. Now being stuck with no power in snow and ice is nothing it's super easy. I keep wood stored for this reason because you can cook and also stay warm. I guess I should say esy for some, but there is so much of a difference between the two situations, I can do fine in this type of situation.

I really thought y'all would have gone and got on one of the buses and ran its generator. My grandpa in Brazos County is cutting up his broken oaks and making firewood just-in-case this happens again next winter. If not, he said he would sell it and make a small fortune 👍🏼. They lost one of the water wells is all and my parents house had a broken water pipe coming from the up stairs bathroom to the laundry below, so that room got destroyed. My power in Collin County was like y'alls but I had made a trip to the store before all this hit and stocked up can stuff and water, that and a propane coleman stove kept me going. I had my bike stand in my living room and just rode my road bike to keep warm. Yep, we all survived SnoVid-2021 ✝️

You talk about it! Not last fall but the fall of 2019 Central Canada was hit with the same type of storm and my 15 year old bountiful producing apricot tree's branches bent down so low that they broke. The next morning was the shocker. My 70 year old Colorado blue spruce was just as bad. The end result: The apricot is down to a 4th of its original size, the spruce has broken branches as high as 70 feet up. The end result by Spring of 2020 was that I couldn't hire anyone to cut the damaged branches off because it wasn't an emergency or a necessity. So, now a year later, I'm hoping that by this summer all will be taken care of. God is the one who controls the weather and sometimes he gives us a challenge not to punish us but to stretch us a little farther to polish us a little more. Stay focused on His love and His grace.

Better for the trees, animals, people because then if fire happens, it is nowhere close to the size. Currently, you are not even allowed to move dead trees from the National Forest. That and the undergrowth is fodder for the fire.

Terri Shepherd I'm with you on that, and I do believe you just might be correct on both assertions. I know you are about the California fires, especially after looking at all the evidence. Who knows what the future holds, we just have to keep our faith and focus on the good Lord above. He will see us through it.

Living in Ohio we get the cold, snow and Ice. I really like the ice storms but not when it causes power outages and loss of heat. I am glad to hear you are doing good, and that things are getting better. In my part of Ohio we have had really cold temperatures and we are now getting above freezing.

Me too. My niece had a stroke during this storm. Her mom (my sister) had power but her pipes froze. My niece and her husband had no power, so they were at my sister's when the stroke happened. She is home now recuperating. Praise the Lord!

Wow seeing the cross standing was so cool! Seeing Amber shop in the dark definitely looked like an episode of the Walking Dead! 😂 Crazy! We’re in Leander and had power outages for several days and lost water for a few days straight too. Our boil water notice just ended today! My husband is a medic in Austin and had to work a couple days of the crazy. Luckily my parents are in RR so they took me and the kids in so we’d have power, water, cell service and company! The kids had a blast and thought it was a great adventure for sure! My husband will come over and help with the chainsaw job - who doesn’t love a good bonfire?! We’re in!

Oh my! First I need to say that I was moved to tears when I seen that the cross had not been touched, very powerful and beautiful to see. Secondly I commend you two for your amazing attitudes and outlook during it all. I live in Southern Illinois and in 2009 endured a terrible ice storm that did serious damages to my home. I was a widow of only 3 years at the time, my husband was always the one who kept the calm for me and our daughter. So this ice storm was my first venture in trying not to lose it and remain strong for my daughter who was 12 at the time. It was a tough thing for me to do especially when I was told that it would be 2 to 3 weeks before power was restored. My friend and her husband came and took us along with our 2 little dogs to stay with them as they heated their home with wood. I was and still am so very grateful to them. Every winter since then I have panic attacks when an ice storm is coming for fear of it being that bad again. And now seeing you two and many others from Texas who took this in stride and went with the flow just makes me realize that it's high time I put my girl panties on lol People always say how strong I am but they just don't know that I'm far from it. I'm so glad that you posted this, it really hit the wake up call for me that yes once I had a bad time because of an ice storm but it could have been far worse. I will forever remember the things that you said for the next time I am faced with another ice storm. God Bless you.

It was a nice video seeing you get through this storm with such great grace. We went through the same thing with our young ones starting from scratch and it was so nice to see it through your eyes. When you laugh you laugh hard, when you cry you cry even harder. You pray that you don't love this earth so much. Trust me at my age you get sick of it, and the only thing that keeps you here is God and your blessed memories.

Reminds me when we had 15 EF-0 to EF-2 tornadoes came through our county in 30min a couple years back. We lost trees and our corn and beans. But like you guys, we prevailed. Life goes on. Keep up the great attitude. I was so glad to have a grapple for the skid loader helping everyone with cleanup. Would highly recommend a grapple. Best attachment out there and will speed your cleanup up! Good luck.
