I have four dogs three love the water one will not even wade in the kidde pool! How can encourage her? You are the best trainer on here Stonnie!

What if you don't have a pool to introduce your pup to the water? I take my yellow lab to a nearby lake but I have to literally put him in the edge of the water and he immediately gets out with no desire to go back in. He's an english lab and 19 weeks old. I plan to keep putting him in the edge again and again with hope that he will eventually like it but so far not getting anywhere.

How do you drain the pool?

If only my lab/bloodhound and golden loved water the way this one does🤦🏼‍♀️🙄

Any suggestions on how to get my 2yr (lab, dane, plott hound mix) and his 4 yr old mom (black lab/dane mix) to like water? Mom is ok with getting washed but they dont like the hose or even a baby pool we bought when the pup was about 6mo. Id love for them to enjoy the water to be able to cool down in hot Iowa temps and eventually go canoeing with us

Just FYI, we've had a lot of fireworks going off all night long, so instead of white noise, I put on some Uncle Stonnie, since your voice is always soothing to dogs, cranked the volume, then turned the fan on low. I worked hard with my dog to make sure he was good with loud noises, since I work construction, so he's not afraid, just couldn't sleep with all the big booms. As soon as I put your video on, though, he listened for about 45 seconds, twirled a few times, was able to get right to sleep, and he's been knocked out since, lol.

Stonnie, you are so patient, and thank you for that. Your teaching me how to go slow and build successful outings upon successful outings vs. trying and getting upset with the dog for not getting it.

We put toys in a kiddie pool for our pup at 8 weeks to get her use to water. She is 12 weeks now, and is already swimming in the river, and lake. She is a lab/heeler mix. Now if we can just get her to like a bath.

My Lab pup, at 4 months, saw another dog in the lake, and she jumped right in and swam right after that dog. Never been in water before (except for inches in the bathtub). Now, at 6 months, she reminds me of Mister No Name in that she is part terrestrial animal part aquatic animal -- as comfortable in the water as on land. She is quite competitive, too. Three adult retrievers and pup going after a ball or dummy in the water, this little pup gives it her all to get to it first. And she usually does !

?? NEVER in my 55 years have I even SEEN a puppy AFRAID of water requiring all this

does it have a drain on the bottom? did you get it at farm and fleet or an equivalent? do they rust out fast?

I got lucky with my bench bred springer spaniel. He was my first dog that I got once I moved out on my own. He’s made everything so easy, any adventure we go on he’s totally cool with. Ran right into the lake the first time we went as a 16 week old pup, never gave up on fetching things from the water even when he was basically drowning himself trying to figure it out and now he’s a pro. I love watching your videos and learning for my next dog because I’m sure I won’t strike gold twice!

How about a lesson on how to get an American foxhound who is a rescue dog with severe separation anxiety and already a year and a half old. A vid on that Stoney? Can't even get her into a kitty pool but yet she will run and jump and splash through mud puddles I don't get it. I brought her a long way from when she was brought to us from a city gal that had her in a small little apartment out here on our 200 acre farm but I still can't get her to like water and I don't know why.

My pupper loves water and is now jumping in and out easily. But as a border-heeler mix, I think she tries to control the splashing and becomes a bit crazy when we’re in the stock tank. She’s SLOWLY calming down at 9 months. Thanks for the video, Uncle Stonnie!

It was pretty easy teaching my German Shepherd to love the water. I just had him spend a lot of time with some Labrador Retrievers ;)

How to teach a lab to love water? Lol....

My girlfriend and I frequent the lake with our corgie. The very first day he ran into the water and scared himself. Now he doesn't even really want to walk in the water. I carry him in (he doesn't squirm) and he swims out just fine but he isn't playing in the water like id like. Now we just try to walk the water shoreline to try to get him comfortable but he doesn't even really want to do that. How can we restart the process?

Where can I get a pool like that?

I didn't realize you had to teach labs to love water

I learned the hard way with my golden/burneese mix that all dogs are not natural with water sports. I threw the ball off of a low dock and he went in after it and rather than jump/bellyflop that I have seen every other dog in my 60 + years do he actually dove in front paws out and disapeared under the water, I was about to jump in after him when he surfaced looked around and got the ball and then headed for the beach where he gave me the EVIL EYE and would not acknowledge me all the way home. Man I felt awfull but he was ok and still loves the water

Any ideas on getting a puppy who is super picky with their food to eat, as well as getting her to train even though she is not food motivated at all? Love the video- can’t wait to go on some puppy adventures this summer! Also started a journaling everyday for her :))
