I just want to give a shout-out to public libraries. My work doesn't require a ton of bandwidth or continuous access to the Internet so locating and visiting public libraries is a big part of my remote work plan. Great way to get a sense of a community too!

We absolutely love public libraries! In fact, just the other day we were in a place that had too many trees for starlink to work and we had no cell service, so we spent the whole day working at the public library. It was quiet, clean, and very free!

Hey folks! Great video, very useful information, thank you! Is the battery bank to run your Starlink when you're not on shore power? Do you think it would be possible to run a 1000w PC tower + monitor when not plugged into shore power? We'd love to live a similar lifestyle for a while, but my work requires a massive PC tower!

We almost exclusively camp without short power, so we are always running our electronics off of the battery through the inverter. We have a 2000 watt inverter which would be more than enough to power your PC and starlink at the same time, but if you wanted to run something else at the same time like a coffee maker or a microwave, you'd probably want to consider getting a 3000 watt inverter. You could probably get away with a similar amount of batteries (400Ah) and solar panels (570W) that we have, but you probably benefit from having more. Otherwise, you're going to be running a gas generator more often on cloudy days or in the winter when solar performance isn't as good. My recommendation would be to buy a cheap watt meter on Amazon and plug your PC into it for a day to see how much you actually use for the course of a work day. From our experience, our Starlink hardware uses about 60 watts while running, so just do the math based on how many hours you need the starlink to be on. This lifestyle is totally doable for you. You just need to invest in the right equipment to get you going. On the bright side, you'll probably never have to worry about heating your trailer as long as your computer is on 🤣

Hey Jess and Justin! Question from us: Is that your battery box in the under storage next to the inverter? Or is it mounted on the front of the trailer? We are getting the dual lithium batteries and we believe they come in a pretty secure metal box, but we prefer to have in inside the trailer storage area, if that is an option.

You'll want to confirm with your salesperson, but I'm pretty sure the only Alto trailer with a battery inside (like in this video) is the F1743 Expedition, because it's the only trailer they make with a 400Ah option. There's 200 amp hours on the tongue and 200 inside the front basement. I guess technically, the A2124 also has a battery that's inside a basement because the trailer comes to a point in the front. For what it's worth, they do use security screws to attach the lid of the metal battery box to the box itself. They include a driver bit in the owner's manual pouch in case you need to access it for any reason.

If you're able to, try to find a company that will rent you a trailer, van, or similar RV and try it out for a week! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. 🙏

Subscribe to make you happy?
@JustinandJess
@JustinandJess 8 месяцев назад
Indirectly. More subscribers means more views which leads to more ad revenue allowing us to spend more time and money on making increasingly interesting videos which is ultimately our goal. But that's a verbose way of phrasing it for the video so "Please subscribe; it makes me happy" seemed playful and appropriate. Thanks for watching! We hope to earn your subscription one day. 😉

I understand the sentiment here. Usually “calls to action” on RU-vid work better if you explain to the viewer what value they will gain from your channel by subscribing not what you will gain by then subscribing, liking etc. That being said, great video found it very helpful and informative.

@@louss thanks for commenting and glad you enjoyed the video. It's always interesting to see what seemingly innocuous thing will get picked apart in each video. Just the other day, I had somebody criticize me for saying "it's clever how our front dinette table converts into a bed." That being said, I wrote requirements in my past job, interviewing business people trying to figure out their pain points so I could fix them with new systems and processes. Usually, even if a message isn't worded constructively, there's always some little truth to glean. If nothing else, this is all an exercise in growing a thicker skin.
